This is a must eat!!! They have a decent GF menu and our server Kyler was very knowledgeable and accommodating. For a small charge you can get GF "bread" which is more like flat bread but yummy. I had GF pasta with seafood and hubby had GF chicken alfredo and we were both very happy. Best GF pasta ever!!!
I am allergic to gluten , so they have me a gluten free menu, they made sure there was not croutons on the salad, even brought me gluten free bread! Food was excellent, will definitely go back!!!
Disappointed but I didn't get sick. The "gluten free bread option", for which there is an extra charge, is their gluten free pizza dough. It's not even reshaped. You are served a salty, pizza dough. The gluten free pasta tasted like a microwave dinner and was poorly seasoned. However, I did not get c glutened. It's not the best option but it's not the worst.
My husband found out had gluten free and took me there . They had a variety of gluten free options. The even brought out gluten free bread and dipping sauce prior to the meal! I felt like everyone else being able to eat bread prior to the meal.
They have gluten free bread and a gluten free menu that actually includes pasta! And a gluten free kids menu, as well. I was very impressed. Everything I ate was delicious!
Excellent gluten-free menu options. They even have a gluten free flatbread that they can substitute in place of the regular bread. The food is good and the service has been good as well.
One of the last times we ate here we ordered a pizza on the gluten free rice bread that they make. When it came out it was clearly not the gf. Our waiter was new to serving and not very knowledgeable about the gf menu..so it's unclear if the mistake was made on his end or in the kitchen. That was the only negative experience that we've had. We've even returned a few times since then and every time we have been very well taken care of. Just make sure you check that your order is gluten free! Otherwise the options are plentiful and delicious!!
This review is based on my second experience here. My first experience there were no issues, which is why I'm rating this three stars instead of one. Quite disappointed with our experience here last night. I asked for a gluten free menu, and ordered the Caesar salad with chicken, right off the gluten free menu, but I was brought a house salad. When I stated that I had ordered the gluten free caesar salad, the runner who brought it out snapped back in a very rude tone, "the caesar salad is NOT gluten free!", I attempted to tell her that I had ordered the one on their gluten free menu, however she walked away from me as I was talking to her. I could see her talking with the chefs in front of the open kitchen, looking quite annoyed with me, then came back and mumbled that she "would tell my server for me" as she walked passed our table, not stopping to talk with me or look at me, and a few minutes later returned with my salad. The salad barely had any dressing, which was fine because my server hooked me up with extra, but there were only about four small slivers of chicken on top (way less than the previous time I had ordered it), but I didn't bother bringing that up. Our server, however was awesome, the poor girl was the only one working our section and was also the bartender, but for some reason, that runner was quite inconvenienced by me. My family really likes Zio's, and I really like that gluten free caesar salad, but I don't think I'll be back any time too soon.
Ok, so um. I really hate giving bad reviews. But I called the restaurant prior to visiting to ensure that when you lovely people said they could make practically anything gluten free, that they really could. The woman on the phone assured me this was the case. So imagine my surprise when we got there (by the way, the atmosphere is nice, but I also didn't feel too out of place in my traveling sweatpants) and our waitress told us that they'd recently changed sauce providers, so the only thing we could have was the marinara. Which should have been a red flag, because if you have a sauce provider, then the sauce is clearly not made in-house. And you can definitely taste the difference. So...yeah. A bit disappointing.
Loved the place pre-celiac, but after being served gluten on TWO different occasions, and having had to wait extra due to meal bring prepped with gluten on another occasion (they caught it before they brought it to my table), I won't ever go back. Not worth the risk or frustration.
Stopped in here recently and was told that they nixed their GF menu because some items weren't completely gluten-free. They still had the rice pasta on hand and after clarifying that it was an allergy agreed to make another dish using it. The dish itself was tasty but I was brought salad covered in croutons. Probably wouldn't visit a second time.
Why are restaurants that had gluten-free menus going away from that? Several local restaurants have stopped carrying informational menus and act like it is safer if we talk to our server. The problem is that no matter how nice or accommodating the server is, this person's knowledge may be inadequate to protect my health. What my server offered me was gluten-free pasta. The sauces? "They're all fine." Is the chicken marinated in anything? "It's breaded and then sautéed." When I told him I couldn't eat that, he seemed surprised and told me that the pasta was the main thing. This was not his fault, but the Zio's chain. Why take something away that helps us and put it on servers to be the experts? Shame on Zio's management. I had the grilled Tilapia which was very good, and it came with gluten-free pasta with no sauce. I left hungry and probably will not return.
Great gluten free menu with lots of options, including appetizers and Alfredo. Finally, I can enjoy olive oil dipping sauce again.
We went to the Arlington location and the staff were amazing! Very friendly and very careful there was no cross contamination. On top of everything, the food was absolutely delicious! They brought out gluten free flat bread out for me while my husband had their house bread. Absolutely amazing experience!
Large selection of gf items. Delicious food and they even have gf bread upon request. Only recommendation is to be clear about a gluten allergy. One day they served our son gf pasta with a few regular spaghetti noodles mixed in. Check your food when you get it!
Zio's has an extensive gluten free menu. When I asked my server about some things, like if the gelato was gluten free, he tried to go get the answer and someone told him that it wasn't, but he wasn't too sure of the answer. It was plain chocolate gelato, with no cookies, so it was fine. my point is that I do agree with another reviewer's comment about the staff not being able to answer questions. However, the sheer size of their menu is good enough for me. You will not be limited to a salad or burger with no bun here!
I love that they have a specific menu to make it easy! Also a gluten free bread option that was very tasty!
This was a great experience and the food was yummy! The waiter, Thomas, was very attentive to the need of GF. He offered flat bread and even left the croutons off of my salad even though I forgot to ask. He also offered a separate plate for the herbs so there would be no contamination. The fact that he mentioned "contamination" was a big plus.
What a great place Very Very Celiac friendly. Love it when my wife (Celiac) can enjoy the meal as much as me.
I've been there twice. Fairly large menu. They even have a gluten free flat bread. Pasta has been great.
DELICIOUS!!! I was so surprised by how large the gluten free menu was! It was doubled sided! And for you glutards like myself out there, you all know that is rare!! The food was outstanding. I had the stuffed mushrooms, gluten free bread with Olive oil dipping sauce, and the shrimp and prosciutto pasta. All gluten free, all amazing. My waiter was Henry and he was also just as amazing as the food! I am going home with sick tummy but not because I got glutened, I just are way too much!! Five stars all the way!!
This was great. They served regular bread and dipping sauce to my husband, and then I was able to order gluten free flatbread to go with my seperate dipping plate. It is the pizza crust and its flavorful and delish. They also didn't charge any extra for it. They have a seperate menu and the pizza was yummy. They cook it in a brick oven.
Just have any gluten eaters keep their bread as far away from you as possible as waitstaff would come by and wave loaves in the air asking if they wanted more.
Really good service, and I loved that they had more than one meals that are gf
Amazing. Of course it's American Italian food but if you need gf it's Delish! Not smart when they put croutons on salad though. Wouldn't say celiac friendly.
The skinny white male waiter sucks he needs to go and get skills on customer service. The food is good though
Very extensive gluten free menu! Lots of wonderful choices! I had the Seafood Alfredo on gluten free pasta. It was delicious! Zio's will stay at the top of my list for gluten free dining!
They had SO many gf options I had trouble deciding what to choose. The pasta was delicious! New fave!
