I ordered the cauliflower crust here, and specifically told the cashier that I had a wheat allergy and asked what they did with that (if the answer was “I don’t know” or anything of that sorts, I probably would’ve gone somewhere else) and she said that they switched gloves, so I thought I would be okay. I was wrong. I can only assume from my feelings a couple hours after that they didn’t seem to take any precautions to prevent cross contamination. I am incredibly sick and that’s the only thing I ate recently today.

Newk’s is normally a great place to get a GF salad. However this location put croutons in my salad and then the manager pushed back instead of apologizing when I took it up to the counter. Do not go to this location.

The cauliflower crust pizza was great. No issues. I had this pizza: Portabella Veggie Baby Portabella mushrooms, red and yellow bell peppers, red onions, mozzarella, basil pesto, topped with fresh basil. One of the best pizzas I’ve ever had.

The main menu displayed doesn't include labeling for gluten friendly items, but the website was easy enough to navigate to figure out what was safe. Had the full size Garden Salad with balsamic vinaigrette (vegan) with no issues. Newk's is one of our trusted places to eat when we travel & this location was great for us. Friendly service, too. Would return when coming through Meridian next time.

They gave a “gluten-friendly” menu. Five different salads. Cauliflower crust based pizzas. GF salad dressings. Greek salad worked fine, as expected. Works well if all you want is a salad.

Great job fixing any pizza with cauliflower crust!! Add a salad For a great meal.
— Yes, the establishment is dedicated gluten-free

They don’t have a gluten free menu or any indicators on menu. I got the cauliflower crust veggie pizza and it tasted good. Seemed a little overpriced

Newk’s now serves a cauliflower crust option. They state that they do not have a dedicated gluten free kitchen space, but the few times I’ve been there and had the Cauliflower crust I’ve had no reaction. I’ve ordered the Margherita pizza each time and it was delicious.

Check their website for the full gluten free menu. We ordered through bite squad- The margarita cauliflower crust pizza was delicious. The website GF menu also shows you which salads are safe to eat/which to avoid. The Greek salad was very good! I did not feel sick after-yay!

I was pleasantly surprised at how knowledgeable the staff was and the care they took to protect me. They have cauliflower crusts and the same person who took my order prepared my food from start to finish to make sure there was no cross contamination. The food was excellent!

I only get soup here and don’t get sick but I wouldn’t trust it for anything else
Gluten free menu was difficult to find but the server was able to tell me the gluten free options. The new cauliflower pizza they said is gluten free.
Staff in West End Nashville said there is no gluten free menu and no gluten free items.
No
This location has an allergen list available to view if you ask for it - but the staff appeared baffled that anyone would ask about what was in the food. The allergen list wasn’t very clear and both the employees ( one was presumably the manager) only offered conflicting information with what was listed. I.e why all the salads ( without dressing) where labeled to have gluten and soy in them- his answer was the dressing. Plan on eating somewhere else.

Very nice and helpful. Have to stick to salad or the thai soup (if available that day) but you get a protein with the salad so it's very filling. And delicious, might I add. 🙂
I have personally never had a great experience after eating at any of Newk’s locations, including this one. Too much going on in the kitchen area to avoid cross contamination.
No
They would not give me a list of possible allergens list. The manager would not help the employee know what gluten-free meant. Not going to waste my time again.
This place is crap to be completely honest. Website claims gluten free menu but when we asked I received an eye roll and a REGULAR UNMARKED menu. The wait staff does not care at all. We didn't even order, just handed the menu back and left.
Really good sandwiches! I've eaten here three times without getting sick.

Staff was knowledgeable and helpful.
I got a salad, and told the cashier that I needed the salad to have a gluten allergen warning on it. She seemed to know what that was, and happily put an allergen warning on it. I watched as the salad maker put croutons on other salads WITH HIS GLOVES. And then he read my order, and started putting ingredients in— with the same, gluten-y gloves. Luckily I was able to see this happen and stop him before he made my life hell for the next 24 hours or so, but still— they have not been well educated on how to deal with allergies, treat with extreme caution!!!!

I ordered a gluten free salad with no croutons. got my salad and it had croutons in it. the staff took it back reluctantly, and brought me a correct salad. the salad wasn’t delicious, and i’m not sure i’ve had worse... also, i pulled a piece of ice out of it... not a recommendable experience.
Staff had no idea if they had gluten free options. (Including the kitchen staff) They were very friendly but I definitely did not feel safe eating there.
No
a decent number of options but mainly very large salads. You also will need to look up the menu online as opposed to finding it in the restaurant but it's fairly easy to navigate.
We went to this location because the gluten-free menu had some tasty looking options. I don't know (and don't want to risk finding out) if the issues with the menu were related to gluten or not. All I know is the food there made both my husband and I sick. All we had in common was possibly salad dressing base. So, either there was something gone bad in his food (he can eat gluten)and something glutinous in mine, or something wrong with the dressing. I am not willing to risk it again to find out.
I had the salad and it was phenomenal. Jimmy the manager made sure that the black and blue salad was gluten free. no reaction thank you Newk's
I was shown a menu that was intended for staff only, and advised by a nice employee whose mom is gluten free on what is safe to eat. All in all, I had a nice lunch: salad with delicious dressing and some bean salad. I'll gladly eat there again
Yes
I love their salads! Most are or can be gluten free!
Note: I have food allergies to wheat, beef, and some nuts. I do not have celiac disease. They have a folder that lists what allergens are in which dishes (ask a manager). I have sent salads back that had croutons and they are always nice and apologetic. Cross contamination is an issue but they said beef and chicken are cooked separately and I did not have a reaction.
They brought my salad out with croutons even after asking for no croutons. They then brought out the wrong salad. I do not recommend.
No
I an highly allergic. Their menu is not marked so you have to go to the web site and it is very informative. The red white and blue salad was wonderful and I had no reaction.
decent. chicken salad is great and all salads minus croutons are gf.
when i asked for an allergen menu they sent a girl out with it that is also gluten sensitive. she was very nice and said they are currently working n on gf bread. the chicken salad and red quinoa salad and all the other salads with no croutons are all gf. i ordered the chicken salad that came with a slice of tomato and a side. i also ordered the bean salad. both good
Horrible service. Salads are the only thing gluten free. Not very friendly about being asked what they're gluten free options are.
Excellent huge salads. The staff are not very knowledgeable about GF, but the chain has an extensive allergens list: http://m.nutritionix.com/newks-eatery/portal
The staff isn't willing to help you besides rolling their eyes and looking at the allergen list behind the counter. I never saw it myself and when I asked to speak to a cook about specifying ingredients, the girl at the counter ignored me. Not many choices for those with allergies. I also asked for no croutons, and that wasn't done either. Everything is iffy, but I risked the Southern Salad.
No
Limited choices but they have the allergen menu handy for referencing menu items. Best finds include soups, chicken salad and salads.
