Terrible experience! Their menu has 2 items with a GF. Spoke to the waitress and she had this "oh not another one" attitude. Ordered the rib eye and steamed spinach. Steak came out gray and loaded with grease. It was over cooked so sent it back. When they brought another meal our company were finished eating so we just told them to forget it. Really for what they charge it was the size of a minute steak. Restaurant was not crowded and now I know why. Don't bother
We recently moved to Granbury and were excited to hear that Hoffbrau Steaks had a gluten free menu. That is rare to find in Granbury.
However, anyone with celiac disease must be very cautious when ordering. The servers have a "deer in the headlights" stare when asked about gluten. We had to send our food back because the kitchen did not follow the allergy instructions and included croutons in the salad. This is not a celiac safe kitchen as cross contamination is very possible.
I give them two stars for trying and for having a gluten free bun. But to get five stars in an app that says find me gluten free, they would need to have a dedicated kitchen where anything on the menu could be made gluten free...there are restaurants that do this. For example From Across the Pond near Northeast mall is owned by a celiac. As a result, all of the food except for a few things can be made as gluten free. So to me thats the standard for five stars. This place tries and has some things gf but I often wonder about how safe these places are. The managers word doesnt cut it for me anymore...especially given they have the food can come in contact with gluten containing ingredients clause all over the menu. So eat at your own risk.
Hoffbrau Steaks has a dedicated gluten-free menu, just ask for it. The waiter was very serious about getting things right. I had a salad with dressing, with no problems. I have recently been diagnosed with celiac disease and would definitely suffered if anything had been amiss--very pleasant experience.
Was excited when I saw they had gluten free options on their regular menu. Apparently it was not that important when I ordered though. I did not get gluten free food. I ordered a cheeseburger with a gluten free bun but got a regular bun. The waitress and manager were not concerned. Service was bad. The food was bad as well. Very disappointed. I am a one time guest to this place and will not return.
Ate here twice during our stay in Dallas. Very good food. My wife is gluten free and didn't get sick once. They told us they had a separate grill for gluten free and we did remind them to be careful to avoid cross contamination. Knowledge of gluten free seamed a little spotty, for example we got some interesting looks when we asked for a gluten free menu. However our servers were very knowledgable and helpful. Be careful if you can eat other ingredients, for example jalapeños. My wife can't eat jalapeños and ordered the sweet water shrimp from the gluten free menu... The regular menu had a full description of the shrimp that was 'jalapeños stuff with shrimp'. We were able to cancel the order with no issues. Great service. Good beer for the non gluten free spouses.
Excellent service and great food! They have gluten free breads. I got to eat a REAL hamburger (bun and everything!) in a restaurant! They caught something that could have been cross-contaminated and that is fantastic. The wait staff was very friendly! We will definitely be going back often!
Lots of naturally GF stuff like steak, potatoes, veggies, salad, ribs. They have local oven GF buns for burgers. Ask for a GF menu when you get in, and do have the staff tell the kitchen it is for a Celiac. But I have been eating here GF before they put their GF menu out, their ribeye steak cannot be beat! Only downside is no dedicated fryer so fried stuff is a no.
