Celiac

I’m heading to Disneyland in two weeks and we just found out my son has celiac disease. Any recommendations where to go at Disneyland and in Anaheim that is gluten friendly?

jaclyn78883 Download the app and look at the restaurants. Most offer gf options. You can also make special requests for the chef at most of the restaurants and they will comply.

AmyLu I haven't been to Disneyland as a celiac, but I went to Disney World 2 weeks after my diagnosis and it was the best possible place to be. In general Disney is amazing and very careful with allergies and gf. The manager would deliver my items separately. It's been a few years, but restaurants would have items marked or I would ask for an allergy menu to see what was available for me to eat safely. I never had any problems there. They are happy to answer questions to make sure you feel safe. Also you should search Pinterest or google gf/Disneyland blogs-I guarantee they're out there and will have tips to help relieve some anxiety.

GFCarrie Disney has an excellent track record of wanting everyone to have the best experience including those of us with food restrictions. We even got to pick out items at a gluten free bakery. If I remember correctly, you could reserve at restaurants to save time. Get in touch - hope you all have a great time.

glutenfreetravelsthewo There is a nice restaurant in downtown Disney called Ballast Point that has a cauliflower GF flatbread with pepperoni that’s good.

KristieGF Disney is really on top of it when it comes to allergies/food intolerances. Lots of articles and blogs available.

j8972 Goofy’s Kitchen is amazing for gluten free. Chef will walk you around the buffet & let you know what does/does not have gluten in it.

lindsay67255 I ate at the River Belle Terrance and a chef came out to take my order personally and take care of it himself. Great experience! I will say the restaurants are amazing but don’t expect the food carts to know what’s going on!

TravelGlutenFree Disney is one of the best places to eat on vacation! Ask for the chef and let your server know your son is Celiac. They will have options. I would avoid fast food places those can be unsafe. Stick to the restaurants

MaryMJ Follow GlutenFreeAndTheMouse on IG & Facebook. She has a downloadable guide you can purchase. But Cocina Cucamonga & Smoke Jumpers in DCA and Jolly Holiday and Hungry Bear in Disneyland park always have safe options in addition to most of the other quick service stops. Get a flop over pizza from Daisy’s cafe in Toon Town or a hot dog from Award Weiners in DCA (just make sure to talk to the chef when you order).

cynthia52842 Disney is very good at doing gluten-free. You can go get gluten-free pizza at the pizza plaza. A gluten-free burger or salad all in tomorrowland. In New Orleans I got gluten-free jambalaya. And in Star Wars land I found some gluten-free. Just make sure you tell the staff ahead of time when you order. They will give you the option of having a shelf handle your meal completely. I would recommend doing that. You do have to wait for items however it is worth the wait. I’ve never had a problem at Disney.

denise77639 We’ve eaten at flos diner and the hot dog place in dca. Next time I think we want to try hungry bear. Almost everywhere will have something. The app will have a menu attached to every restaurant. When you get there, tell them (I say gluten allergy instead cuz that seems to trigger the protocol) and they’ll typically bring a chef out to discuss your options/the safety. Popcorn, cotton candy, dole whip are all safe. Most places have a dedicated fryer. GF is easy and abundant in dland

kayla92378 Just depends on what your son likes, food wise. There is also gluten free chicken teriyaki at the lucky fortune cookery in san fransokyo.

dorothy28652 I’ve spent the last 3 days at Disneyland and California Adventure. Every meal I ordered on the Disney property I had a chef come out and take my order personally. They will take care of you!!!
