This is not a dedicated gluten free facility, but I have been here many times and they are accommodating and willing to wash hands and swap gloves to avoid any cross contamination. I always just get a half pound of either pulled chicken or pulled pork, and the BBQ sauces are gluten free. That entree is so delicious I have never bothered to ask about anything else, but they may have other options I'm not aware of.
GREAT FOR GF!! When I asked if the bbq sauce was gluten free the manager working the line immediately told all staff members to change gloves and swap out all utensils! Also had gluten free dessert options in their bakery! Love this place!
I was disappointed with the service at this location. I tried to tell the people behind the counter that I had a gluten allergy. They were too busy laughing and not paying attention. I decided to order what was on the online menu for allergies. The food tasted great but it made me sick.
Wow I can't believe people are saying this place is safe for Celiac or any level sensitivity. They have gloves covered with each food item and gluten going in every bin. Did not change gloves and when I pointed it out, they did not give me new sides. They also put everything on a contaminated tray/sheet. Everything was covered in grease that probably had gluten in it. Total nightmare, definitely avoid this place. Awkwardly didn't eat it even though I came with an important person.
As previously mentioned, allergy info listed on the website. I've eaten here many times without issue. I choose items listed on the website that don't contain gluten. Most meats are fine as are many of the sides. No issue to find something you'll like as they have good variety. Would be good if they place gluten-free options on their direct menu or have a side menu so you don't have to check the site on the phone prior to ordering.
They don’t have gluten free marked on the menu at the restaurant but allergen info is clearly marked on their website. It’s a quick serve style place and all working the food line were GF knowledgable. I got wings and corn n cob. Manager instructed kitchen to change gloves and get wings from back to ensure we’re not handled by gloves with bread crumbs on it. All their meat and sauces are gluten free.
visiting from out of town. they were able to pull out a binder and show me everything that was gluten free. had pulled pork with their signiture sauce and coleslaw. was very delicious. they even changed their gloves to make my food. Im very sensitive to CC and didn't get sick. friendly staff as well.
I have celiac and had a great experience at 4 Rivers. Very knowledgeable upfront and had a very detailed allergen menu. I did ask about pulled pork since it says it's gluten free but does have soy. I asked and they said it does have Kikoman soy sauce which does contain gluten. So I chose the sliced pork & chicken wings which don't contain either one. Both were fantastic! Great sweet potato casserole too.
Coming from a celiac who used to work here. I would not eat anything cross contamination is a HUGE issue, even if they change their gloves, all the meats have come into contact with bread. All sides made in the back come into contact with the biscuit station with flour everywhere. Also allergen list is completely false. Some meats ie tritip and prime rib are brined in soy sauce. Allergen list is not accurate at all. Just be aware. I wouldn't eat here safely. Insider knowledge
We had to see what all the fuss was about.... I was impressed that they had one laminated allergen guide available. Not impressed with all the grease on it but it was a barbecue place, after all. We had the chicken plate and the smoked turkey with collard greens, baked grits and potato salad. Nothing was worth going back for. Though I don't have Celiac so I can't tell right away when I eat gluten, I'm very careful. Sonny's on Timberlane (off Thomasville Rd.) took special care to provide gluten-free dinners last time we went and the food b is better. They also have wait staff there, and aren't wasting all that Styrofoam and plastic like Four Rivers. Wish I could've attached a photo of the dead fly on the table next to us. It was nice the bathrooms were clean and they provide a sink to wash hands near the door.
My wife is gluten and dairy allergic and we've always had good luck with the brisket here as long as you ask for it to be gluten/dairy free. There are quite a few gluten free options and the staff is good about using different gloves and cutting it elsewhere. Highly recommended.
The staff here were extremely accommodating when I told them I was ordering gluten free. Everyone changed gloves and cleared the serving area. It took about 10 minutes longer to get food but it was worth it. I'm celiac and had zero issues.
I have celiacs and have never gotten sick here. They have an allergens menu that clearly lists what is gluten free. I always let them know I have a gluten allergy and they immediately change gloves and make a note on my tray. Several meats and sides are gf and they even have gf cookies! Plus it's all delicious!!
My lovely sister brought me takeout. We shared brisket, collard greens, roasted jalapenos, sweet potatoes, green beans and corn. It was all wonderful. The brisket was juicy and tender, and the sides were all good. My only complaint was that it seemed a little salty, and I would have loved something to put out the mouth fire... They did have GF cookies already made as well.
I absolutely love the fact that I can get GF chicken wings at 4R because they are smoked not fried. Also I love the smoked sausage. Basically all of their meats and sauces are naturally GF & their staff is knowledgable. They also have a GF cookie, but you have to call 48 hours in advance to have them bake it for you and who plans that far ahead? But overall, I am a big fan of 4R. You can read my entire GF review of 4Rivers on my blog: http://www.celiacinorlando.com/2013/4rivers/
This is some of the best BBQ ever, anywhere. The sauces are the weakest link. But, they are GF. The line is long and worth the wait. Order as much as you can afford and go hog wild. We usually spend 37ish for 2. Yelp it for more opinions. GF options are plentiful. They have an allergen menu on their website.
