They have a gluten friendly and vegetarian menu. It says on the menu there could be cross contamination so I asked alot of questions. Our server, Joe, was very knowledgeable. He understands dietary issues because he has some of his own. I ordered the Sunrise Spinach Scrambler. This comes with gluten-free bread which they toast on a grill where no other gluten is grilled. It also comes with grits but I asked if I could get a fruit cup instead and I could. It had pineapple, strawberries, grapes and blackberries. They also marked my order as an allergy.
We ate here when we came to Gulf Shores 9 years ago. My wife talked about the GF pancakes for 9 years. We are staying in Orange Beach this time, which makes it closer to get to. We have gone twice on this trip as well. The GF bourbon street pancakes were amazing!!!!!! My kids loved the GF chocolate chip pancakes as well. The city grits are not on the GF menu, but our waitress assured us that they were. They are the only way I will ever eat grits. The second trip I also had an omelette (can’t say it or spell it,) it was delicious as well.
I NEVER write negative reviews, but felt it was necessary to write one on this. I'm celiac and ordered a gluten free waffle. After the waffle was brought out to the table, took 1 bite and asked the waitress if she was sure it was gf because of the texture. She told me yes, then halfway through said waffle, 3 people come to the table to inform me it in fact was not gluten free. I paid $83 for our meals and started my family vacation getting glutened. It's safe to say my family will not be returning here, and I highly recommend anyone with Celiac to think twice.
The staff was friendly but even the manager told me she had no idea what celiac disease was. They do have a “gluten free friendly” menu with a cross-contamination warning. When they explained their methods for preventing cross-contamination, I was satisfied (separate portion of griddle for gf pancakes, dedicated gf pan for eggs, cooks change gloves and clean everything) but it was a bit worrisome when they lead off with “we can’t promise you that you won’t get sick.” I appreciated the honesty though!
Fantastic gf, df breakfast. The manager made my breakfast to ensure that both my allergens were taken care of. This restaurant even went the extra mile to “toast” my gluten free bread on a clean griddle. This is an upscale, pricey restaurant but is well worth it in order to have an allergy free, delicious breakfast. There is a McDonalds next door so just get your family member who is gf their breakfast to go. 😉
Has a gf friendly menu, all the pancakes can be made gf as well. They are very friendly about being gf and even told me that the potatoes are fried with other gluten stuff so they understand. I am not super sensitive tho so it’s okay for me.
We heard this place had a gluten friendly menu but were delighted to find they had many pancake options. I chose a flight of pancakes which was a trio of their different pancakes: lemon blueberry goat cheese, mixed berry and cream, and bananas foster. This trio came with eggs and meat as well. It was a feast for around $12! One of my kids got the GF pancakes off the kids menu(!) and they tasted so good to her she was sure she had been given gluten. A non-Celiac child ordered the same meal only not GF so she taste tested the 2 and said, “I was happy with my breakfast until I tasted your pancakes!!” She also thought they were excellent but tested them against someone else’s at the table to determine that the GF pancakes were actually GF! Delicious!! I had to fight people for a taste of my own food!! Of note, there was a marker on the GF pancakes to denote they were GF. And the servers and hosts were knowledgeable as well. Can we open one in our home town?
Staff was AMAZING!! Completely knowledgeable about gluten free, they have a ton of gluten free options! Honestly they have the best gluten free food, it tastes like normal food!
Several gf options, pancakes and omelette and more. They say "gluten friendly" but they are gf ingredients and staff are excellent about using clean equipment to cook when they know it's an allergy. (This is a chain, and every location so far I've been to is similarly good)
I had the sunrise spinach omelet, substituted my English muffin for GF pancake, and upgraded my potatoes to fruit. The meal was good, they brought a individual container of syrup to avoid contamination, and my only complaint was that the pancakes seemed undercooked so the texture wasn’t what I was looking for.
The food here was delicious! I haven't had made from scratch gluten "friendly" pancakes for 4 years! They call them gluten "friendly" and explain why on the menu. I had no problem...but do not have celiac. The gluten friendly menu has alot of choices and the food and service was amazing!
Great gf pancakes & options! Waitress was knowledgeable as she eats gf herself. I had the pick 3 flavors option. Blueberries & gooat cheese, plain, & bananas foster. Comes with 2 eggs & bacon. (I skipped the eggs & had plenty to eat.)
No GF menu and very few GF options. Their only real option was a very thin flat $8 GF pancake and for your $8 that's all you got was that one pancake. I suggested bisquick pancake mix but they aren't allowed. Shame :(
Food was ok. Asked for unseasoned potatoes & they arrived with seasoning. They allow a sub gf pancake (2") for $.99 in place of an English muffin.
On my 2nd visit here, everything went wrong. After ordering, when the waitress brought out my food with other regular food (even though I'd so carefully explained how important it was to keep things separate) my husband and I left without eating, and without paying. it's too inconsistent for me ( a celiac) to ever go back here. I'd NOT recommend this place for fellow celiac's!
I had the Floridian Omelette and my Grandson (a suspected Celiac) had the Lemon Blueberry Goat Cheese Pancakes. Both were quite good! They have a gluten free menu and they flag your order so the kitchen and servers take precautions, but they don't have dedicated kitchen space or a dedicated cooktop or fryer. I got the impression that there was not a lot of training about food allergies because several people could not answer my questions.
The place itself has an industrial feel with concrete and glass walls and lots of hard surfaces which made it quite noisy so we couldn't have much conversation. It was also not real comfortable with hard wooden chairs. It does have a very nice outside dining area that I would try next time.
The food was good, and the coffee was really good. We didn't have any adverse reactions. I would be willing to try it again, but I would sit outside where I could hear the people I came with and the chairs might be a bit more comfortable.
Always a bit leery of eating out. But had a good experience here, no sickies. Had the Sunrise Spinach Scrambler with a side of grits and tomato slices. Ordered from the “gluten-friendly” menu. No dedicated frier, so no potatoes. Very nice server, quite a long wait to be seated and to get food after ordering. But we were there at noon which is probably their busiest time. Would go again!
