Best gluten free dining yet. I had fried chicken!! Phenomenal service and incredible options. Donut Holes for dessert. Could go there for dinner every night for a week and try something new each time. Incredible!
Amazing! Delicious food, great service, nice ambiance and lovely view. My daughter with celiac ordered the southern hamburger and she loved it. Her gluten-free bun was really good and didn't crumble apart like some gluten free buns due. So many gluten free options to choose from. We also had the gluten free donuts which are served warm and are so good that the non gluten free members of our family gobbled them up. All of us really enjoyed our meals even my very picky 15 year old cleaned his plate.

The food was wonderful!!! Fine dining with out the pretense. The selections were great and the seafood was very fresh. We were here off season so it was a quiet night (which we loved). They are very accommodating with my gluten sensitivity and they know their stuff. I got the crab dip and it was delicious! My hubby who is not gf was able to get some crustinis and I enjoyed my corn tortillas chips. For dinner I got the peppered catch which was outstanding. My husband got the crab cakes and was blown away. If you enjoy excellent food, consider your self a foodie, and want great service and a beautiful evening this is a great pick!! Oh and I almost forgot, the bathrooms have a changing table for the kiddos. So they are family friendly too!!! We will for sure be back!
what a refreshing experience! We picked this restaurant bc of the reviews and we're not disappointed. One of my children and I can not have gluten. He was so excited to have GF pasta! I had the most delicious brisket sandwich and the GF Bun was amazing! the owner came over to talk with us and she was so kind! it was the only meal on vacation that had no complaints and 5 clean plates. That is impressive and speaks volumes. The entire staff was very knowledgeable. We will go back every time we visit.
We stopped here today after the Aquarium and were not disappointed. This was day 6 of our trip and the best food we have had so far! We ordered the crab dip with corn chips for an appetizer and it was bland, but they took it off without us even asking which I wasn't expecting. I had the catch of the day (flounder) with green beans and mashed potatoes. My wife had the fish tacos with pan seared flounder. I had the house-made ginger ale and she had the root beer on draft. We both loved our meals!! We met the owner and she is GF and vegan. Her husband is the chef. I felt safe as a celiac eating here and absolutely recommend it to anyone.
Diverse and delicious GF offerings. Staff is extremely knowledgable and the atmosphere is relaxed with a beautiful view of the water. The crab dip with corn chips and GF bun on the down south burger were perfect.

FANTASTIC! 75%of the menu was gf. Everything was fantastic. They had gf apps, main dishes, gf pizza and pasta. Beautiful setting overlooking the pier and ocean. A wonderful place.
I have 7 food allergies including gluten (CD), tomatoes, broccoli, peas, almonds, pork and avocados. I also have IBS so salads are out. The owner is GF and her children are on special diets. She came to my table and reviewed ingredients in the dishes. They make a gf fried chicken! It was pretty good too. I also had one of the best mojitos I havery ever had there. I wished I had found this restaurant earlier in our trip I definitely would have gone back.
Owner is gluten free due to a autoimmune disease. The chef is her husband. Her two kids are also gluten free. Ask to speak to her & she will come to your table & talk to you about the ingredients.
lots of gluten free options marked right on the menu. They have GF rolls for burgers and Greens beer. really nice atmosphere and great staff. parking can be an issue but needed to walk after dinner anyway. highly recommended.
Most excellent. Wait staff was fairly knowledgeable and was able to ask an owner when she didn't know the answer. Delicious chicken breast served on a GF bun that was very tasty. Best GF/DF meal I've had on the outer banks of NC.
My husband is gluten sensitive and dairy sensitive and we wanted to eat here after reading the raves. They give many options and he chose. The chicken sandwich. The GF bun was the best looking GF bun I've ever seen and he said it tasted good. I had the crab cake sliders and they were so good my eyes rolled into the back of my head. The staff was friendly and good.
Owners have a child with celiac and one of them is the chef. Dedicated gf fryer, superior knowledge of ingredients (all made from scratch). Corn and potato chips made fresh- haven't enjoyed that in years! Overall an incredibly comfortable, safe, and delicious experience. Also have green's gf beer and cider on the menu.
Owner & chef husband have gf child and vegetarian child so understand food choices. Have separate cookware, even separate fryer for the gf food when preparing. Menu denotes gf, vegan and vegetarian choices. They will also work with other food allergies, such as dairy, when finding a meal choice. Uses organic, locally-sourced foods. Stop here when in Manteo, NC on Roanoke Island before you get to Nags Head, NC on the Outer Banks.
So many options! Pasta, pizza, rolls. All items on the menu are labeled gluten free (or able to be made gluten free) my party had multiple allergies including gluten and everyone had options! Everything was so good! The wait staff and hostess were friendly and and helpful with the menu and our allergies. Great view of the water was a plus! Perfect choice for anyone!
Avenue Review The decor inside of the restaurant is beautiful. It has a Manhattan style theme to it. We met one of the co-owners (Maria) who indicated that she eats gluten-free (GF). Almost every item on the menu is GF or can be made as such except or a few items which are denoted with an asterisk. Our server Kara was extremely friendly and attentive. She had a great knowledge of the menu and the GF aspects of it. I had the Avenue salad - poached pears, candied pecans, mixed green & crumbled blue cheese with a red wine vinaigrette dressing. For dinner, I ordered the Tuna Oscar and my wife had the gluten-free Basil Cream pasta with chicken based on a prior reviewer's recommendation. Both of our dishes can be summed up with one word...amazing!! The tuna was fresh and savory. It was topped with crab meat that was seasoned beautifully and the shoestring potatoes were so good that my wife couldn't resist continuing to reach onto my plate and steal them. Her GF pasta was fantastic. The cream sauce was light and flavorful and the pasta itself was tasty. We finished the meal by ordering their GF creme brûlée. It was a little heavier than traditional creme brûlée, but tasted exactly the same. I would highly recommend the restaurant and every dish I referenced in this review to everyone...not just those with a gluten allergy.
Delicious gluten free pasta! I ordered the Basil Cream Pasta. My non-GF family enjoyed their meal as well (crab sliders and fish sandwich) We brought our 1-year old son and it wasn't a problem. Nice view of the water and the Festival Park attractions.
