Great experience eating here - our waiter perked up as soon as I mentioned celiac and immediately pointed out gf options on the menu, of which there were many - most tapas are gf and they have a separate gluten free fryer. I enjoyed the cazuela, delicata squash and homemade ricotta (with gluten free bread).
The food here is so good, and the staff are really helpful, they mark everything on the menu according to your requirements. There is a wide range of gluten free options, as well as dairy free and vegetarian. They also bring bread and olive oil for the table and make sure there is separate gluten free bread and separate oil to avoid cross contamination. I've been a few times now and always feel well looked after there!
Had an absolutely incredible time! So much of the menu was gluten-free and the waiter walked me through what was safe. The waiter ALSO was GF and mentioned the dedicated fryer before I even asked. They had GF bread, and we were brought out dessert and a GF version of the waiter’s fav tapa, for free!! Couldn’t recommend this place more, usually I’m stressed about sharing plates as someone GF eating with non-GF friends, but this was so so easy, atmospheric, and fun!
Barcelona is a great restaurant for those of us that have celiac disease. We had not been there since before the pandemic. Almost all the tapas, and main dishes can be gluten free or modified to be GF. A bit pricey, but great experience, great atmosphere, great service. The manager Brandon literally marked up the menu to let me know what was safe. Gracias Brandon!!!
The menu is not marked gluten free, but the server will circle everything Gluten Free. The Staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and our server knew the difference between Celiac and Gluten sensitive. We ordered several tappas for the table and split Paella. We had Flan and a chocolate almond cake for dessert.
Great GF experience. As a celiac, it’s rare to go to a restaurant and not feel like you’re getting a different meal than everyone else. Like another person posted, they wrote on the menu exactly when I could have it was most of the menu! I LOVED both the gambas (shrimp) and the chicken thigh. The eggplant Caponata was a bit too sweet for my taste, but it was still good. Also, they gave me gluten-free bread for free, but it tasted like Udi’s not homemade so I didn’t eat much of it. Can’t wait to go back and try the other items.
Absolutely delicious. Plan for 2ish plates per person. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable and marked my (paper) menu right away with what was available gluten free as is and what could be modified. Fantastic atmosphere, great patio in the summer, extensive and delicious menu and wine list. Don’t skip the flan for dessert :)
The best food and greatest service I have ever had! Right off the bat, our waitress asked if we had any allergies and I said gf. She marked the whole menu with what was gluten free and it was almost everything. She brought out gluten free bread and oil. Very knowledgeable about the menu items and how to make them gluten free. The food was incredible and at the end she gifted us a gf chocolate cake. Amazing service and incredible gluten free food.
We talked to one of the chefs and told him how amazing our experience was with being gluten free. He informed us that they take allergies very seriously and have 2 designated fryers and a separate preparation area for gluten free.
We got the patatas bravas, the aperitivo board, and the white sangria. We split it all 4 ways and we were stuffed at the end!
My 11 year son has celiac and we were worried he wouldn’t find anything he liked here, but the menu was great and there are plenty of GF options. They didn’t even up charge us for the GF bread. And the waiter checked to see if cross contamination was ok. When we said no, he was totally fine with it.
Although they do not have a gluten free menu. Upon sitting down the server asked if anyone had allergies and proceeded to say he was going to cross off the items in the menu that are gluten free, could be made gluten free, and were not gluten free. The food was great with so many choices.
I can’t believe I haven’t been to one of these restaurants before! The waitstaff were super attentive and knew exactly what to do. The gluten free bread was just toast lol but everything else had very interesting flavors. Most of the menu can be made gluten free so you get to try many things! At one point they brought us a dish and a minute later came back to swap it out as they realized it hadn’t been cooked separately for me- thankfully I didn’t dig in yet. Mistakes happen in a busy restaurant with many dishes being served at a time, they handled it well, but definitely still a small risk here. Would definitely return though!
I really love this place. They have loads of gluten free options, and everything I’ve tried so far has been excellent. The waiters are all well educated on allergies and will mark up the menu with everything you can and cannot get (and indicate any necessary substitutions). I’ve been here several times and never had an issue!!
Friendly servers mark everything on the menu that is or can be prepared GF. Most of the menu is available GF. The flavors in each dish are fantastic. The mussels with GF bread and Chorizo with sweet & sour figs are must haves!
The table next to us had one person needing GF and one needing DF. The server marked up two menus to show what was safe for both and made it an excellent experience for them too.
My server went through all my selections to verify lack of gluten. She offered gluten free bread for the pan de tomate to make it safe for me. For items that came with regular bread for other diners at my table, the bread was served separately to avoid contamination. The food was so flavorful and very reasonably priced. It was an enjoyable evening, I felt like the staff was happily working with me to keep me safe, and I had no symptoms afterward.
The staff was extremely helpful in pointing out the gluten free options and they were a lot of choices! Great meal and staff
They have a GF fryer. Since it’s tapas and we (party of 4) order a ton of food I was hoping that when each dish was brought out, the runner would announce if it was GF or not but that didn’t happen. They brought out the mussels with slices of bread right on top. The manager then came over and was very apologetic. I do wish the entire operation had better communication practices. Food was delish as always.
Always a fun place! They are normally very knowledgeable of allergies and will take your menu and mark it up based on what you can / cannot have — did not happen this time, but still were accommodating!
In our party we had dairy, gluten, and tree nut allergies. We were able to (with letting our server know restrictions) get patatas bravas (always amazing!), fig and chorizo (most incredible!), the Brussel sprouts, cauliflower, and chicken paella (half serving size - enough for 3 with other tapas).
The paella was not that good — 2 of the people in the party did not eat it, so I would recommend searching for other options.
Overall, really good place. Be sure to have a reservation always and make one EARLY. People WITH reservations were still waiting to be seated after 40 mins due to back up. We made ours for 6 on a Monday night and were safe from that, but by 6:45/7, it started to get crazy.
Knowledgable staff, lots of great GF options, very tasty food.
Place itself has such a nice vibe, great decor, fun place to spend an evening. Cocktails interesting and very tasty.
The paella was disappointing, but it is hard to find someone who knows how to make paella properly outside of Spain. These folks make it in the oven apparently which is a crime publishable by death in Spain. GF bread also a little lackluster but what ya gonna do.
Great experience! I am celiac and was reassured by our waiter, Derrick, that they had many safe options. I think all but two dishes could be made gf. They have a dedicated fryer! We had gambas al ajillo, patatas bravas, fig and pork and a paella. Everything was delicious!!! The atmosphere was so fun. With a packed place, the plates came out pretty quickly. The owner stopped by to see how our meal was and I was able to thank him for the great gluten free meal!! Make a reservation and experience this gem for yourself!
