I only discovered Barrio about a month ago, but I’ve been there three times already and I cannot wait to go back! I was diagnosed with Celiac before I turned 2, so I never got the experience of eating endless baskets of warm chips and salsa before the meal is brought out until I came here! They have a GF fryer and the complementary salsa is only a little bit spicy. There are tons of taco toppings that are GF, but I would recommend the spice-rubbed chicken as it is tender and delicious. They also offer GF appetizers including queso. I would HIGHLY recommend Barrio to those with Celiac and anyone in general.
I went to the Kent location and the queso and chips are gluten free and the menu is clearly marked, they take allergies seriously and make delicious food! I don’t generally enjoy Mexican food but somehow can’t get enough of this place, I seriously recommend this place, good food for a good price especially for gluten free, servers and nice and understand what needs to be done for celiacs, 10/10
I’ve eaten here 4-5 times. I’ve generally had a good experience, though there are inconsistencies about what is gf on the menus. And some things are marked gf that have potential cross contamination issues, such as one of the quesos. However, the last time I ate there, they brought out half my tacos in a flour tortilla. I had told the server about needing gluten free and even wrote it boldly on top of the taco order form. I informed the manager, and she apologized but didn’t seem very concerned. My advice is to check all your tacos before you start eating them and make sure to verify they know it is gluten free while ordering and when it arrives. You may also want to ask specifically that the person making the tacos changes their gloves.
