Disappointed by the service. Was told conflicting info about the fryer. Was initially told it was safe, until I pointed out a non-gf fried item, at which point it wasn’t safe. Staff was apologetic but it was still after I ate food that I was assured was safe even though it wasn’t. Steer clear of anything fried
I had to fine a late night dinner on the fly and was of course super nervous! I had a really positive experience here, the server was fairly knowledgeable and honest (said not to have the chips because he can’t guarantee they aren’t fried), and took my concerns seriously when we dined in at like 11 PM. Tried to get take out but apparently they decline to do take out sometimes? Just FYI. Plenty of options as they have “build your own tacos” including corn tortillas. Menu labeled with GF choices. Food wasn’t amazing but I did not get sick, my #1 priority for sure as a Celiac.
Great patio although we sat at the bar because the tender looked lonely. Most items here are gluten free. My bowl with bacon and pineapple salsa was excellent. We also had 2 made to order tacos- cocacola beef and spiced chicken on fantastic house made corn taco shells. The Guac was amazing. Excellent margarita as well.
The tacos are completely customizable, you fill out an order ticket that clearly marks what is GF and the waitress picks it up. I wrote Celiac/Gluten Allergy at the top and the waitress circled it. The tacos came out within 5 minutes of our order. The queso, chips, and salsa were gluten free.
NOTE: The Coca-Cola marinaded Steak is NOT gluten free even though it is labeled that on the menu (it contains non-GF soy sauce). The manager let me know immediately corrected the issue. They were very careful with my meal making sure everything was GF and the food was amazing!
Went to the one in Lakewood for best date night ever. Our new favorite restaurant!! Most things were GF and easily dairy free. All the delicious sauces at the table were GF and df. Wish my kids were more fun, we'd go all the time! I have celiac and feel safe here and can still have great food!
Delicious build your own tacos, tons of gluten free options!
Omigosh! Soooo good! Visiting from out of town, we ate there 3 times over the weekend. Had to get carry out due to sports crowds though (takes about 20 minutes for carry out even though getting a table could have taken 2 hours). Menu clearly shows what is GF. Staff seemed helpful and concerned and knowledgeable. Everyone in my party loved it, I'm the only GF one. I didn't get sick after trying multiple items on three separate orders. Great flavors, tons of options for toppings on the corn shell. Yum! The aioli sauce is awesome, loved the pork and chicken better than the steak. The corn chips with queso blanco were amazing! Wish I could eat there every week!
Love Barrio, the food is delicious and its easy to make your tacos GF. Tremont location is the best tasting.
I went to the one downtown on Prospect. Loved the energetic vibe and the food. If you sit at the bar you can get your entire meal and drinks for happy hour prices. The menu is very clearly marked. Easy to order… No explanation necessary. Tacos are amazing. Chips and guacamole a must! Made this celiac so happy!!!
I love me some barrio tacos!!! Everything GF is marked on their ordering sheets so it's really easy to order. They also have soft corn shells (even though it's not on the ordering sheet) and their cheese has been said to be GF, but for whatever reason is not labeled that way.
Everything is clearly labeled gf, vegan, and even dairy-free (most ingredients are indeed gf). I highly recommend this restaurant some of the best unique tacos that you create via a bubble sheet selecting the unique ingredients you want. Also very reasonably priced. I always go with 3 different tacos @ $3/taco and leave full and satisfied.
I’ve eaten here 4-5 times. I’ve generally had a good experience, though there are inconsistencies about what is gf on the menus. And some things are marked gf that have potential cross contamination issues, such as one of the quesos. However, the last time I ate there, they brought out half my tacos in a flour tortilla. I had told the server about needing gluten free and even wrote it boldly on top of the taco order form. I informed the manager, and she apologized but didn’t seem very concerned. My advice is to check all your tacos before you start eating them and make sure to verify they know it is gluten free while ordering and when it arrives. You may also want to ask specifically that the person making the tacos changes their gloves.
Love it ! Many choice of tacos available :)
