server was knowledgeable when i mentioned my needs for celiac, and the many was also very well labeled for gluten and also dairy and dietary preferences as well. i got a bowl and also had the chips (only the corn chips and corn tortillas are fried in the fryer). im very sensitive and had zero reaction
Cool concept, interesting place. Plenty of options, all should be very good but not my experience. Ordered softshell corn tortillas, they were unheated, refrigerator temp cold!!! Huge fail. Ever had a cold taco? How about three! Next, ordered casa margarita. It tasted like it was made from a powdered pre-mix and zero tequila, one of the worst I’ve ever had.
UPDATE: My stomach also did not agree for two days. Cost another star. For reference, NOTHING upsets my stomach
I came in this evening to grab some takeout after it seemed like Barrio had some decent reviews. This is a tacos only place!
I informed them I was celiac and had to eat gluten free. They showed me the menu and what items are marked as GF. There was only one special that was gluten free but the build your own taco menu had plenty of options. I've attached photos.
They told me for celiac that they would wipe down the space and use new gloves without me even asking so I get the sense they have knowledge on being allergen friendly.
Service was really kind.
I’ve eaten here 4-5 times. I’ve generally had a good experience, though there are inconsistencies about what is gf on the menus. And some things are marked gf that have potential cross contamination issues, such as one of the quesos. However, the last time I ate there, they brought out half my tacos in a flour tortilla. I had told the server about needing gluten free and even wrote it boldly on top of the taco order form. I informed the manager, and she apologized but didn’t seem very concerned. My advice is to check all your tacos before you start eating them and make sure to verify they know it is gluten free while ordering and when it arrives. You may also want to ask specifically that the person making the tacos changes their gloves.
