First time customer, asked for Gluten Free crust and was told they had THREE!
**** THEY LIED ****
Rep told me one of their GF crusts was made “in-house” and was GF and Vegan.
Thin pizza delivered to table, Within first few bites, I doubted it was GF (it tasted too good).
I went back to the counter to verify, and was told it was definitely GF.
I checked my receipt, “Classic Crust”, did NOT specify GF.
I then asked “How do you know this is GF?” And was told it was because he made it himself. Again, “How do you KNOW the crust is GF?”. They said they could tell because it looked different.
I could see other crusts, bubbling in the oven, so I continued to eat half of the pizza that tasted “too good”
Sure enough, within 24hours I was doubled over in abdominal pain and diarrhea which last three more days, compounded with joint pain, headache, and dizziness.
I contacted their Corporate customer service … who STILL have not answered HOW can a customer verify they receive GF?
Instead I was offered a “free pizza if you provide your Blaze Pizza rewards info”
… this is the MOST gluten I have been exposed to since diagnoses in 2010. I was traveling, and had to get a hotel until I could continue 8 hour drive home.
Being LIED to about food containing allergens is UNACCEPTIBLE
This franchise should be avoided AT ALL COSTS!!!
I work here at Blaze Pizza and I ensure you that we take every precaution to prevent any cross contamination. We offer a Vegan Gluten-Free Crust and a Gluten-Free Cauliflower Crust.
Before I was gluten free, I was a huge Blaze Pizza fan! Went here for the first time in a long time the other night and now have to eat gluten free. I asked about their options and they had a couple crusts you could choose from. They said they would change gloves, and had ingredients below the counter they could use to avoid cross contamination. I'm not sure if they did change gloves or not (I was distracted for a minute), but they did *not* end up using ingredients under the counter. They said most of their toppings were gluten-free anyway, so there shouldn't have been much, if any, issue. But the biggest problem I saw was they cut my pizza with the same cutter they use on every other pizza. I didn't complain because I hated to waste an entire pizza, and honestly, I wasn't sure how much I would react to a little cross contamination. I was hoping it would be ok. My pizza was absolutely delicious. The crust I got tasted just like normal crust. But within a few hours of getting home, I was sick the entire night. I should have been more vigilant about making sure they made my pizza correctly. I won't make that mistake again.
The gluten free pizza here is good, but don't expect anything to be without cross contamination. They might pull from down below if you ask - some staff did and some didn't. Some staff changed gloves and some didn't. This is conveyer belt pizza, kind of like Chipotle. So multiple people are touching your food, making quality control around GF pretty difficult. They have a dedicated pizza cutter that they then placed on non GF pizza pans - so that's not quite meeting the mark. The crust is also very thin, so expect to order more than you normally would. Celiacs should beware. I managed with only a headache afterwards but someone more sensitive definitely would have been sick.
Delicious GF crust pizza!! They have 3 GF crust options including vegan, keto and cauliflower. They ask if you require a glove change.
Delicious pizza - loved that they immediately offered to change gloves when I ordered GF crust. Plus they had a separate container for sauce for GF to avoid cross contamination with other sauce and utensils. They also got my toppings from containers under the counter to further avoid cross contamination. Great service!
I was sad when zpizza closed...but then I found this place. I was pleasantly surprised when I ordered a gluten free pizza and saw them take out actual gluten free pizza dough! No shells here! They have a press they use when flattening out the dough, and they cleaned it thoroughly before using it. The staff all changed their gloves when informed of a gluten allergy, used dedicated utensils, and everyone was very knowledgeable about which ingredients and toppings were GF. But best of all, the pizza was SO GOOD. Instead of using one of those conveyor belt ovens like Pie Five or zpizza would use, they use a real oven (flames and all), and you can taste the difference. This might be one of the best GF pizzas I've ever had.
I really enjoyed this place. When ordering the gluten free pizza they asked if I needed them to do a glove change. The pizza was really good! I'll be back for sure! (I do not have celiac and they do stress that there can be some cross contamination for those who are celiac, so be careful depending on your needs).
Awesome gluten free pizza!!!! They have gluten free dough and you can use it to build your own pizza with unlimited toppings for the same price. Gluten free dough costs $3 extra but it is still $10.95 for a good sized personal pizza (too much for a single person to eat all at once.) If you get the "high rise" with extra dough, it becomes the BEST gluten free pizza ever! They use shared oven and toppings but will change gloves. (I am not celiac, but have not been sick.)
