Amazing choice of everything a celiac misses. I really loved the vanilla donut and the almond croissant. Although it’s such a celiac safe place, it is so expensive as well, too bad.

Amazing food. Totally gf. Tasted great. My non gf family said they would have never known the bread was gf. Only criticism was I found the bread we brought to take away a little expensive. Overall really recommend visiting though.

This place was a gluten free dream. The bread basket was delightful and it was so exciting to try all different types of gluten free bread - the jams it came with were amazing as well! My personal favorite was the caraway bread, which was the best bread I have ever had. The smoked salmon and cream cheese croissant was a great lunch and the almond croissant made for a delicious dessert. I would definitely recommend - especially for the caraway bread!
It is 100% GF.
Please note, there is only outdoor seating.

Wow! The most beautiful gluten free bread shop I’ve ever seen. So many delicious options of breads and pastries us celiacs and gluten avoiders can’t eat! I had a loaf of the buckwheat sourdough and even after 4 days tasted amazing. This place is special! They are expanding all over LA and it’s obvious why. What a treat!

Had amazing food and it felt amazing to be able to order anything from their wide variety of pastries, salads, sandwiches and much more. Food tasted excellent and everyone was super kind.

Everything I had was incredible. Chocolate croissant, baguette, sourdough, brioche French toast, hazelnut eclair… can’t say enough good things. I haven’t had baked goods even close to this good since getting diagnosed with celiac. A must visit spot!

I ordered a maple donut. I should’ve guessed by the lack of refined sugars that it wouldn’t be the sweet donut I was looking for, but it was just awful. It tasted like frosting on a burnt bread roll. $10 later and I’m left with a bad taste in my mouth and a donut I didn’t even finish. I didn’t try the breads, but the taste of this donut doesn’t leave me with high hopes. I won’t be returning :(

Breadblok is gluten-free heaven!! Even if you are not gluten-free, you will love it. They are known for their delicious bread and pastries, but you are really missing out if you have not tried their kitchen menu and yummy coffees. I love stopping by and taking advantage of the outdoor seating they have right on Montana. It is the best on a sunny day! Thank you Breadblok for bringing healthy and yummy treats to the neighborhood!

Currently the best GF bakery in the US. Hands down.
As the wife of a pastry chef, I know $18 for a loaf of bread is insane. Even in LA… but the thing is, I’m not eating a loaf of bread regularly. I cut and freeze and use as needed. I feel shameful walking out with 6 items and $100 later but my husband has assured me I’m doing the right thing. It is simply because the quality far surpasses anything you can get anywhere else. Far superior to any crappy GF bread you find in the store… with variety!
Hands down, the focaccia is one of my favorite breads they make. Totally totally worth it (and yea, it freezes and reheats perfectly)!!! The challa might be the only thing I hope they improve in the future, but makes a decent French toast. The chestnut sourdough is my go to (and pastry chef husband approved! 🤣😂).
But let me be Frank… I’m here for the quiche bitches!!! Really really excellent crust.
Love the honey lavender individual cake. Love the donuts (maple was great; but borderlines really sweet). Eclairs are good, but mehhh… they get a bit soft. Tea cakes and muffins are moist and good. Croissants are dense- but tasty. Cookies are solid. Tartlets are good- but I’ve been burned twice by ones that weren’t filled properly and just had a thin layer of filling… but the sweet dough was great.
I am a HUGE fan of these guys. So much so that I bring a huge huge order back with me to Vegas every time I’m in LA, and in between when my friends visit, pick up and bring me some treats.
I will be a huge fan forever.
Take all my money. (But seriously, this place can get pricey quick, but it’s the best quality you’ll find in the country)

Delicious! Nice to eat a sammich while out that wasn't smothered in a lettuce wrap. Also, olive loaf is excellent, brought that home along with the buckwheat sourdough but haven't tried that yet. Chocolate eclair and pumpkin bread were excellent too. The girl who helped me was so friendly!

So happy to find a dedicated gluten free bakery I almost cried while in the store. Got GF sourdough, GF focaccia, and a tea.
The sourdough doesn’t taste exactly like traditional sourdough, but it’s tasty nonetheless.
Only stipulation is the price; this place is very expensive. The single loaf of focaccia was $12 and the sourdough was $22.

What a gem! This place is a great spot for brunch. Everything is gluten free but even my gluten eating friends approved. High quality tartines, sandwiches, pastries, and bread. Can’t wait to return!

Super friendly staff! I was really impressed with their selection. This was the first time I was able to find a gf croissant and I was impressed. The baguette and pumpkin muffin were also delicious.

Rating this based on the quality of the food, not the price (which is exorbitant). Croissant was just OK, maple brioche donut was amazing. I will definitely go here again. Tons of options to choose from. Beautiful storefront.

Only giving 2 stars because it is a dedicated GF establishment and pretty. I got the pain au chocolat and coffee eclair. I tried a bite of each and didn't like either. WAY overpriced.

I have had a number of items from this bakery for lunch to donuts to bread at home. They make, hands down the best GF breads and donuts I have ever had. The texture is amazing! The croissants are the only thing I found underwhelming - too buttery and not flaky - but I think I must be super hard to get the same texture with GF flour. The Baguettes, donuts, chestnut bread are my favorites so far.

Delicious dedicated gluten free facility! We got sandwiches for lunch and then went back the next day for pastries to bring on the rest of our trip. The fruit tart was my fave. Highly recommend!

The gluten-free sourdough was so good we thought it was "regular!" Amazing! We had eggs with bread, with avocado on the side. My daughter liked her croissant. We ordered doughnuts for later and they were honestly terrible. Not sweet enough, and we aren't crazy sweet fanatics. I recommend anything else, though. The prices are pretty high, but it is special food and it is Santa Monica.

So thankful for dedicated gf places like breadblok. We loved everything we had. Highlight was the salmon tartine — just delicious. Also tried the croissant: really good. It didn’t have the layered, flaky consistency of a regular croissant but more importantly it had the buttery, yummy flavor of a croissant. Pumpkin muffin was good too but I found it slightly rich.

Got to check out Bread Blok in Santa Monica this morning.
Despite its good looks, it was a let down overall.
If you’ve ever had bread from New Cascadia or croissant from Mariposa, know they are both worlds better.
The bright spot was the Smoked Salmon Tartine. Good bread without toasting, lots of salmon, and really good cashew cream cheese topped with dressed arugula. This is the one things I didn’t get a pic of. I would happily eat this frequently.
The baguette with prosciutto and gruyere looked like it had a nice crust and fluffy interior but really was dense and grainy and the cheese of lower quality. It likely would have been better had the bread been toasted and the cheese melted.
Both croissants, prosciutto and chocolate filled, were very bready and dense with no flake at all. I didn’t even want to finish the chocolate, which is unheard of. Haha.
The latte and golden milk lattes were both good.
We got a loaf of brioche to take home and I’m crossing my fingers.
I spoke with some staff members to ask what their favorites were, since they suggested the salmon to me. The all said the strawberry or pear tarts were great. I would have gotten one but I already had another order to pick up from Cake Monkey in LA. (I will post later when I’ve tried everything but I can say the one thing we already tried was VERY good.)
The worst part was the price. Bread Blok is VERY expensive. The brioche alone was $22! Croissants are $7. Chia pudding was $12. I know it’s Santa Monica but it has to been good for those prices, not just okay to barely edible.
Next time I’m in Santa Monica, if I’m near, I’d consider going back to get one of their salads or the tartine, and a tart. Other than that, not worth the money.

Got so, so, extremely sick from cross contamination with oats I would imagine. Or it's straight up gluten. I have been in bed and in the bathroom for the last 18 hours straight. I ordered items that didn't contain gf oats but if you're a celiac who avoids oats I would not eat here as there has to be significant contamination to make me this sick. It's 4 am and I'm still up sick from lunch today. 😔 There's another celiac user on here who also got extremely sick so that's two now at least. Beware!!! Not safe for us.

Absolutely love this place, we’re regulars now. The brioche (especially as French toast) and the s’mores tarts are to die for, and it’s the best gluten free pastry dough I’ve ever found.

Fully gluten-free bakery!!
The best gluten-free sourdough I have found in a store! Only downside is the price. $20 for a relatively small loaf. Small bag of crackers are $10+. That being said, the food itself is very good

BEST PLACE EVER 100 percent gluten free. Doughnuts, croissants, loafs.

One of the first gluten free bakeries with very high quality products. Had the brioche donuts, brioche French toast, sourdough, and blueberry focaccia. I loved EVERYTHING. The space itself is also amazing. Absolutely elevates everything.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!!
They're a completely gluten free bakery, and the quality is outstanding.
Try their GF&DF Chestnut loaf for bread that has a beautiful taste and the texture of a European artisan bread... My favorite is their Fruit and Nut loaf! I go in and buy one of each often.
They also have a dine in menu and their coffee is phenomenal.

Very overpriced and i was completely disappointed in everything i bought. It's nice to have a dedicated gf bakery to go to but the taste and texture of all items was unpleasant. Items look good but unfortunately that is the only positive comment i have for them. Tried the croissants, a cookie, the brioche, and a baguette. Nothing was even close to the quality standard i was hoping for. Threw every single item away after 2 bites.
