The staff were unhelpful with questions. I ultimately ordered a bagel with plain cream cheese because the gentleman couldn’t tell me if any of the meats were GF. The bagel was tiny and suuuuper dense like it hadn’t risen when cooked. They use precooked bagels from an outside company as other reviewers mentioned so that is also a reflection of them. It was expensive and extremely hard to eat due to the toughness and density. An extra star simply for having GF available. Also their “separate” GF area is directly underneath gluten bagels in open, wire crates. Cross contact is almost certain.

The darker section is super dense. Seems like it wasn’t cooked properly.

Incredible gluten free bagel. I’m not celiac, so I can’t speak to cross contamination but it’s 100x better than “best bagels” a few blocks away. BUT- the coffee was bad. Get your coffee somewhere else!

The gluten free bagel was like a mini bagel- and cost the same as a normal one- kind of a waste if you ask me. They aren’t careful about prep. I suggest going somewhere else.

Careful with preparation, separate toaster. Good flavour. I had no issues and I am sensitive.

Very good GF bagels, I do have to agree the bagels are a bit small, and I could see where cross-contamination might occur, but I have never had issues and I am typically very sensitive.

Preparing staff was very friendly and showed me the smaller-sized GF bagel before toasting it. It was pretty good. Not sure about cross-contamination.

I can not recommend this place for anyone who is celiac. Their “separate preparation” area is right below where they store and toast all of their regular bagels, so i’m pretty sure it gets quite a few crumbs. They do bring out separate cream cheese and change their gloves, but I did get sick here and it wasn’t worth it.

The GF bagels are small... but very satisfying when you’re really after a bagel! The gentlemen who took my order changed their gloves and I never saw him put my bagels near any others. I went here a few different days and haven’t had any reactions.

They forgot my food, then gave me the wrong food. Their system is definitely not one that gives me confidence in how safe the food is. It was OK but absolutely not worth five stars like everyone is voting? I thought NY would have amazing bagels, I’m pretty disappointed. I have these bagels in the freezer at home.

Dedicated prep area and dedicated toaster. The guy behind the counter changed gloves immediately.

I was feeling very confident...and then watched him smear cream cheese on from the same bin that they were using for regular bagels. So close to perfect.

As another posted mentioned, I’d go next door to Friedman’s.

Although they have dedicated toaster, they have cross-contamination in the prep area, and they admitted to me that if you are Celiac you should only eat next door at Freidman's and not at Brown's Bagels. The gluten-free bagels are also frozen, not fresh, and very small. I am hoping this online review will spur them to make changes and create a completely safe gluten-free prep area including safe prep with the cream cheese spreads and butter, changing of gloves by staff etc.

THEY USE FROZEN BAGELS BY THE GREATER KNEED. These are not homemade! Knew nothing about cross contamination when it came to the cream cheese or butter. I honestly have no idea how their rating is so high on this. The only plus was they had a separate toaster. But t didn’t matter because they cut the bagel on the same cutting board they had just cut a normal sandwich on.

I trekked here in the snow for the GF cinnamon raisin bagel... Yes they have a separate toaster. I asked them to change gloves. Butter for my bagel was a different matter - it's an extra charge and they take it from the same tub they use to spread non GF bagels and there are crumbs in it - I opted out of the butter but be aware of the potential for cross contamination. GF bagels are tiny...
