Ordered the steak frites and NY strip with broccoli and sweet potato fries along with the gluten free bread service. Separate gluten free menu and was asked at the door if we needed them. The waitress asked if there were any other allergies at the table and was knowledgeable about dairy free alterations. I was given a separate bread spread that was specifically dairy free. Gluten free entrees came out on different plates and with a different waiter than rest of the parties food. Huge variety! Delicious and felt safe and taken care of!
This place blew my mind!!! They can make basically everything gluten free, and don’t fry anything with gluten so there’s no cross contamination with the frier!! Both the dishes I got tasted amazinggg (ask for garlic aioli with the shrimp if you get it) and the burger was absolutely delicious. I think these may also be the best fries I’ve ever had and the portion size is really fantastic! Can’t recommend this enough!!
Oh my gosh, this was THE best burger I have had in such a long time with a bun! I didn’t have to worry about cross contamination or anything. I let my server Kay know what my allergies were and she told me exactly everything that I could and could not have. My food was brought out separately from the rest of the tables. It was so delicious! I can’t wait to come again and try more dishes on the menu!
Excellent! My son and I are gluten and dairy free. They have a separate gluten free menu and also ask about other allergies. We got take out and they marked our order with very prominent allergy alert stickers and prepared it differently than they did those who ordered from the regular menu. I loved it so much that I emailed and asked them to open one in my location.
Gluten free bread so good it’ll make you cry. Almost everything on their menu can be made gluten free. Felt so at ease as soon as we sat down and was asked if there were any allergies at the table. I notified them of a gluten allergy and the server told me gluten was the easiest allergy to accommodate. When gluten free is made to feel like the biggest inconvenience at many establishments, this was a total paradigm shifting experience. 13/10 recommend.
They have a designated gf menu which has 30+ options. The service is impeccable and the food is great.
Amazing experience. The hostess and waiter both asked about gluten allergies before me even asking. Reassured there would be no cross contamination and everything made fresh in house. I had the firecracker shrimp (amazing) and the lobster roll with no reactions!! Also had the chocolate cake!
We went for dinner and brunch; both were excellent. For dinner we had lobster rolls which I have had since going gluten free. They also had gluten free bread (focaccia). For breakfast we had fresh donuts (literally still hot) with eggs Benedict and short rib hash. They take allergies very seriously, with separate prep areas including fryers.
Service was outstanding!!! The waiter took the time to explain their philosophy, process, options. He was attentive and the food came out quickly. They have separate kitchens and staff and plates, etc for regular and gluten free. They change the menus every season, and have separate menus for gluten free options. The manager also dropped by to make sure everything was good.
This was my first restaurant after being diagnosed August 2024. I was dreading going to a restaurant, but this was amazing. I told my waitress I was JUST diagnosed and pretty emotional, and she had the manager come out and welcome me. He said they don’t even bring wheat flour into the kitchen. Such a kind staff. The donuts were great. The burger was really good. The bread fell apart a bit but maybe that’s because of the grease (had a hash brown on it). I foresee going here many many times in my now GF life. Thank you so much Burtons for showing me there are still options.
No longer safe from cross contamination. It used to be safe but both me and my son have been glutened this year (more than once).
9.13.24 update: my son was given a regular bun and didn't realize it and has been sick for a couple of days. I had already stopped eating here due to my level of sensitivity but now I don't feel safe with him eating here anymore.
Oh. My. God.
I can’t remember the last time I had food this good AND was able to feel safe while consuming it. I’m absolutely blown away at the level of care taken to prepare my dish and then on top of that, it tastes THAT good? I don’t mean to be dramatic but when you struggle to find good places to eat that have celiac safe measures in place, it’s like finding a diamond in the rough.
I ordered the gf general tso bowl with grilled chicken, gf truffle fries, and gf cheesecake. Absolutely delicious.
We always go twice before leaving a review but I should have left a review after the first visit. We went out of our way the second time because we were so impressed the first time. Upon arrival they asked if we needed a GF menu (unheard of anywhere else). Once seated, the server asked if there were any other food allergies, which I have and she noted. When I finally ordered, she came back after the chef told her the risotto was cooked in a broth that contained my other allergen (celery) so I ordered something that was GF and celery-free. Both visits were excellent. The service was great and the food was delicious, and neither of us got sick either time. They make sure there is no cross-contamination and have special plates to designate allergy issues. My husband got the Tso's chicken bowl both times. I had salmon the first time and a chicken alfredo dish the second time. Everything was delicious! They also have GF beer and at least one cider on tap. This will be a go-to when passing through Charlotte on our travels.
Omg this place is soooo good. The GF menu is huge and the staff has extensive training to keep it safe. The service was great. We had fried calamari, crab cakes, general Tsao’s chicken, and an ahi tuna bowl. We also got blueberry cheesecake and chocolate cake to go. We will definitely be back mostly cause there’s so much I want to try!
Stopped here on our drive from Pennsylvania to upstate South Carolina and had a great experience. Server was friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. The crab cake was delicious, the chicken piccata was great, the fish sandwich was ok (could have used more flavor?), the Caesar salad is a must try if you’ve been missing out on a classic salad (tasted just like I remember from before I switched to a gluten-free diet) even tried a new gluten free beer which was great too. The restaurant makes everything from scratch, so if you are driving through town make sure to leave plenty of extra time to spend at the restaurant (or try ordering to-go?) Also got the gf cheesecake which tastes too good to be true.
I am very sensitive celiac, just ate here- everything NIMA tested good and I am feeling great! We had swordfish, haddock, calamari, fries, mashed potatoes and a cucumber salad. Everything was absolutely delicious! Very impressed. They asked our party if anyone needed a gluten free menu as soon as we walked in, before I even mentioned anything. We will come again!
My husband and I went to Burtons while on a trip to Charlotte and they were phenomenal! The service was great and the food was outstanding. The minute we walked in the door, I felt safe. They asked if I wanted a gf menu and the waitress immediately wrote down my df and gf allergies. 95% of the menu can be made gf and df because everything is prepared fresh for you! Highly recommend and we will be returning!
Ate here multiple times and had wonderful experiences! Not only are they amazing with gluten allergies, but they take other allergies (even my complicated garlic and tomato allergies) very seriously. Every server we had was so kind and well informed. Did takeout one night and had just as positive of an experience. Highly highly recommend!
This place is a GF dream come true. The waitress was so knowledgeable and explained that the owner and daughter have celiac and created Burton’s to cater to those with food allergies. The dedicated gluten free menu is a legit full size menu. Dedicated fryer. All GF dishes are served on square plates and presented as gluten free when brought to the table. I had the wings and the steak frites and both dishes were fantastic. So grateful for places like this that make it easy and effortless to feel like a “normal restaurant diner” again. Thank you Burtons!
I went here because of all the reviews. Despite others comments- it is NOT good for multiple allergies. Once I put soy and dairy on the table, the server didn’t know what to do with me. I was so disappointed.
We have eaten here no less than 10 times and each time it’s gotten more and more dangerous for gluten allergies/ celiac. Last week, was served a dessert that was ordered as cheesecake. Arrived as Key Lime Pie and was piping hot. It had not been chilled and was gluten. The manager assured me it was not key lime but my husband said key lime so- who knows. This week, our server did not use the hand held device and chose to remember our 4 top order. I know the gf food comes on a square plate so when my food came was on a round plate and was a regular gluten bun I was in shock. Her attitude was abundantly clear she didn’t care so I spoke to the manager who was responsive and generous. However, bc I have been so many times I knew their protocol. If I had not, I would have been very sick. The food is good, but their servers education could use a touch up. Perhaps they management should deliver all gluten free meals. Be careful and don’t trust until you verify. Also the brunch donut holes are amazing!!
Hi Tisha, thank you so much for dining with us! We are disappointed to hear that your experiences have been inconsistent. Your feedback is essential in helping us make sure we are delivering on our promise to provide a safe place for celiac diners. If you could please reach out to us at [email protected] we’d love to speak with you further, and hope to make things right for your next visit.
Fantastic meal!! I wish I had found this restaurant sooner, I would have visited more than once! Separate gluten free menu. Separate fryer. We had the firecracker shrimp to start, the breading was amazing!! For dinner I had the General Tso Bowl, I swapped the chicken for grilled salmon, delish!! And for dessert, the seven layer chocolate cake. So, so good!! I should have taken pics!! A must visit if you’re in Boca or nearby!
