Absolutely perfect experience. Everything you hope for when you have celiac: dedicated menu, very knowledgeable staff, they separately walk out your food first and announce which is gluten free. To go is great too, overall one of the best for sure.

I have eaten here multiple times and never gotten sick! Separate GF menu, and separate space in the kitchen for food prep. Waitstaff are very knowledgeable of all different food allergens, and always ask if there are any allergies at the table. The menu is a bit pricey, but the GF options cost the same as regular options. They also have the best bun I have had since being GF (and it doesn’t fall apart!). Definitely recommend this place.

BEST OF THE BEST. GF heaven - seriously. Celiac safe with no limitations. All of those foods you’ve cut out and drooled over since getting your diagnosis? You can eat them here!!! French fries, burgers with buns, breaded cauliflower and chicken, pasta, beer, you name it.

So happy to have found this place and wish they would open one in Chicago or even better NW Indiana! I got the General tso’s cauliflower and the crab cakes. The manager brought my food out to me and confirmed gluten free due to Celiacs! And my waitress was so good at explaining the precautions taken.

It pains me to give Burtons one star. We have been loyal and happy customers since 2012 (started going in Massachusetts). But it pains my husband even more. As soon as we got home he became sick, definitely glutened with bad pains. Burtons was always the one place we thought we could trust to handle gluten allergies safely. This is so frustrating.

The Mediterranean Chicken Risotto was simply amazing. They ask if anybody needs a gluten free menu right away and how many gf menus are needed. The waiter double checked himself to make sure I needed gluten free and I didn’t have any other allergies or sensitivities. A different waiter brought out my food from my husband saying “gluten free risotto?” when they got to the table which I loved because I always feel like I need to ask if it is gluten free just to make sure they know to treat it with a little extra love. We are traveling to the beach and I already told my husband we are stopping on the back for lunch!

The BEST G-F menu I have seen. The she-crab soup was better than even regular she-crab soup I used to enjoy. The crab-crusted trout was delicious. Good wine menu. The 7-layer chocolate cake was delicious. The only problem was the noise. The music was way too loud--people's conversations were loud to be heard over it. It gave my husband a headache.

Server was polite and attentive but there seems to have been some cross contamination in the kitchen. This was the only meal I ate out today so it’s the only place I could’ve gotten sick. I really enjoyed the environment and meal but celiacs need to know that they do serve items with gluten so there is a risk.

As a Charlotte local with celiac who recently went through a bout of GI issues that completely changed the way I eat, this is basically the only restaurant I will eat at anymore (and I used to eat out probably 3-4 nights/week). They have a separate food prep area where they handle the gluten-free and other allergen orders. The manager is very knowledgeable, as are the servers who have been there for awhile. I personally love their salmon and their jasmine rice. The paleo burger is also good. Low FODMAP can be a little more of a challenge to find on their menu, but I also haven't specifically asked them to accomodate that since I already ask for GF and a couple other allergies, which are the most important. If you need low FODMAP without specifically wanting to ask for it, your best bet may be a protein, white rice, and green beans or spinach. (Note that the really amazing jasmine rice does have garlic powder.)

This place is a gem! The owner has celiac, so the menu is almost all gluten free. The servers were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. They use corn flour and rice flour, gluten free panko for breading. Managers and servers who are allergen certified bring the food out to help avoid cross contamination. The food was DELICIOUS! We had crab cakes and crab stuffed haddock. What a find!

This restaurant has lots of gluten free options. They have a dedicated frier for gluten free items. The manager brings the gluten free food out separately. I ordered the Memphis dry rub wings as an appetizer (my first time eating gf wings out!) and street tacos as my meal. Both were delicious! As a celiac I was a bit worried when the manager called the gluten free food "gluten sensitive," (I get sick very easily) but nonetheless I did not have any problems eating here. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I would definitely go back here!

I feel terrible updating my review but I have now been glutened three out of the nine times I have eaten there since they opened in the spring (and I was away all summer). The first time I blamed it on my bringing in a gluten free cake to celebrate a birthday and not sure if there was cross contamination when they took it to the kitchen. The other two times I only ate their food. All three times were on a Saturday night (two times in November). Of all my visits, I have only had one successful Saturday night. My last visit the General Manager oversaw some of my food preparations and I know he really wanted the visit to go well as did I. The body knows when it’s been glutened so as much as I would like to think it was something else, it wasn’t. At this point I believe the Manager thinks I must have other issues which is causing the problems. The last week it happened I had eaten out at two other restaurants and a friend’s house with no ill effects. I just feel so bad as I considered Burton’s to be my safe place and I always recommended it to others. ORIGINAL REVIEW I have eaten here several times since they opened. It is so comforting to know how seriously they take gluten free and that they have good protocol to provide a safe meal. The food is excellent. They have a great gluten free focaccia with herb butter to start off the meal. I love the calamari and had a delicious lobster risotto. Their chicken risotto is also quite good as are their burgers and steaks. Everything is good and if you really want to indulge the seven layer chocolate cake is worth the calories. I am so happy they have this new location. Now if I could only get them to expand to the Cape (Falmouth please).

I love all the other Burton's locations but had an awful experience here. My sandwich arrived on a square plate, brought out by my server (not the manager as is typical at other locations). The bread looked different so I asked, are you sure this is gluten free? She looked down at my food and responded confidently, yep, gluten free! I said, I've ordered this a bunch of times and it's never looked like this, do you mind double checking? So she did, turns out it was not gluten free! Had I never been to Burton's before I would have eaten it. But that's not where the horror story ends. They brought me out a new sandwich and I asked if they made a completely new sandwich or if they moved the items from the old to the new bread and they assured me it was a new sandwich. Well the chicken was cold and I was SO SICK the days following that I am confident it was not a new sandwich. Throughout all of this, I didn't see a manager until the end of the meal (he brought out a third sandwich because the chicken was cold in the second but the damage was already done at this point). Very disappointed because Burton's is a chain I have otherwise always been comfortable eating at.

New restaurant. Founder has celiac, Grill is gluten free, dedicated fryer, Kids menu, pasta, chicken tenders, fries 90% of their menu is gluten free. We have been back several times and daughter never gets sick. Trust burtons 100% Regular and GF menus are almost identical with minor differences. Love burtons!

What can I say about Burtons? I think it is the safest place to eat with acute celiac disease. Wonderful, delicious high quality food. Our hands-down do to place! Love it!!

Amazing! Sat at the bar as we had no reservations. We were immediately greeted and asked about food allergies, as was everyone else served near us. Our food came out separately as my hubby isn't gf, from different directions. I asked if they had dedicated area for allergens and was told yes. I'm not CD, but severely intolerant and was fine. Our friends whose children have peanut and tree nut allergies also eat here without difficulty. And might I mention, the food was delicious???

This place is incredible. They have a huge gluten free menu that makes you feel like you never have to miss out on anything again. The gluten free fried fish sandwich with fried pickles on top is amazing.
