This was so good. I haven’t had fish and chips in years. I am celiac and the food was absolutely delicious. So hot and fresh. I felt very safe ordering and the menu is quite large for GF. You just have to ask for it separately from main menu. The peanut butter chocolate pie was fantastic that I got to go after the meal as well. The staff was knowledgeable and great. I will most certainly travel 3 hours to come back here again.
Delicious & designated fryer! The fried fish & chips is worth it since they have a designated fryer. The salmon, burgers, blt/sandwiches are also good. Have been here several times to try different items on the menu & haven't had a reaction. All Cameron Mitchell owned restaurants have been extremely knowledgeable & accommodating as I have been trying them & different dishes around the city.
I’m honestly crying. It has been soo soo long since I could sit down at a restaurant with my family as a celiac and truly enjoy the meal without reservation.
Our server was friendly, kind, and knowledgeable, which set the tone. Then I was met with a gluten free menu, and oh, the kicker- a dedicated gluten free fryer!!!!! I had a french fry out for the first time in many years. AND A gluten free orange creamcicle cheesecake!! All of the food was incredible, but most of all the feeling of freedom that came was priceless.
Hey y’all gf folks! Just so you know they will turn the gf rolls they have into cinnamon rolls for you at no charge and they’re delicious! Just ask your server what they can make gf for you bc they can do more than just what’s listed. My kiddos got chicken tenders (not just grilled) and that’s not in the menu. Plus they tend to have daily desserts that are gf or daily specials that can be gf too.
Absolutely wonderful! Dedicated GF menu on website and on Doordash. Everything was labeled with an allergen label and was appropriately GF. Their food itself was wonderful. It has been a long time since I had a Philly Cheesesteak, let alone a GF version. It came with rolls too which was a really nice touch. They even have a dedicated fryer for their fries to enjoy the full meal without skipping out on anything!
Excellent meal with great service and a white chocolate peppermint cheesecake to die for. First time in 9 months I felt like I was eating normally
On 4/2/22 I had the fish and chips from the gluten free menu, which came with cole slaw and tartar sauce. Two hours later I had a full-on glutening, not a cross-contamination level but "actually ate gluten" level. We had told the server I had celiac, and specifically ordered off the gluten free menu.
Aug 4, 2021. I always say that the best GF meals are the ones where I can order almost anything off the menu and it taste well without me getting sick. The Cap City Fine Diner is one of those places. I've eaten at this chain before,, but never a this location.. The experience was just as great as the other locations.. Fantastic gluten-free meal. I ordered the beer battered (Red Bridge GF beer) fish and chips from a GF frier. Meal was absolutely great. Wow.
We are just driving through and stopped here to grab take-out for dinner. My non-celiac husband had the gluten free pork meal and I, who is celiac, had the balsamic chicken. We also had the strawberry basil lemonades and the gluten free dessert, be which was creme brulee with strawberries and whipped cream. The food was excellent and flavorful. Unfortunately, later that night we both had a lot of gas and were uncomfortable. It was not a gluten issue since my husband doesn't have any issues with gluten, but something else. Will likely give them a second try if coming back through town in the future.
Gluten free menu and dedicated fryer. Server was knowledgeable about dairy free options as well. Food served with an allergy flag to verify it was prepared as requested.
Great food, great service, great drinks! I had the gluten free fish and chips and it was amazing! It wasn’t on their current gluten free menu but I asked the server about it and she said they always have it. I was in heaven. They also brought some delicious gluten free rolls with a sweet sauce before the meal. I got a Bloody Mary with their homemade mix and they double checked the recipe for me to be sure it was gluten free. Left feeling great and satisfied! Will definitely go back next time I’m in Columbus!
It was nice to be offered a gluten free roll, but it was not good. The texture was dry and the taste was bland. I then ordered the BLT. The bacon was wonderful, but the bread (different type of bread than the roll) was dry and not very appetizing. I would not order the BLT again for that reason. The tomato was quite thin too. I tried Cap City based on the great reviews, but I can't say I was impressed. I have paid less at other places and have had better gf food.
The gluten free menu was impressive and everything was delicious. What a treat to have warm gluten free rolls with our gluten free meal.
We have eaten at Cap City Diner four times (coming from out of town). Two of our experiences have been great; two have been awful. This most recent time we went at lunch and were seated at the diner window where we could look into the kitchen. The waitress did a great job checking my allergies and Celiac considerations. I ordered a piece of fish, some plain rice, and sautéed peppers.
They told me they would custom cook my meal just for me.
As I got half way through my meal I found a two inch section of noodle. Absolutely baffling. There was NO noodle in my dish or any way that should have happened — and it was buried IN my food. The manager was apologetic and we left without paying for our dinner... but I definitely paid for my meal in other ways.
I wish I could recommend Cap City Diner, But 50% of our experiences have ended badly. If you have serious allergies/Celiac, eat at your own risk.
Went three times in April, no problem; went last night, sick as a dog after... I always tell restaurants it's an "allergy" and not a preference because people take it more seriously and rarely understand celiacs and cross-contamination issues.... that obviously failed me this time
Been here dozens of times. My celiac go to. Not many places I feel safe eating, this is one of them. The staff is aware of CC and there's dedicated kitchen space. My celiac cousin, father and I are always here.
I'm still trying to find another place I can eat at with consistency and not get sick.
We loved it! GF menu can be viewed online prior. Had a great variety! The boys loved being able to get fries and wings! (Dedicated fryer). The bread was a little dry but... They have it! It's a great option. They brought cinnamon rolls and even provided a GF version! We will be back!
Although they have an extensive gluten free menu, this is not a celiac friendly restaurant. I had a spinach salad with chicken, a cup of soup and creme brûlée and I was unfortunately cross-contaminated after eating there. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for those with celiac.
I chose this restaurant because I have celiac disease and saw it had an extensive gluten free menu. I ordered the pecan crusted pork chops with spinach, but the spinach had clearly been sauteed in a pan that had been used to fry noodles without being washed between use, because there were small pieces of noodle in the spinach. Please be aware this restaurant's staff are not properly trained on allergy cross-contamination. I will not be eating here ever again.
Great selection of gf items. I had the Philly cheesesteak - bun was a little soggy but sandwhich and fries were very good. Unique seasoning on the fries and a nice crisp fry
Staff is clearly very well-trained with protocols. The hostess asked if we needed any gluten free menus before seating, the server immediately asked if anyone had allergies before we ordered, we were given gluten-free bread while we waited, and all of our food came out with allergy toothpicks. They also have GF Oreos for their ice cream dessert options and a GF dessert of the day. Definitely felt very safe. That said, I do feel like our food was just OK. It was great to have options, but I wasn’t blown away with what we ordered.
This is one of my favorite restaurants to go. All Cameron Mitchell’s are very knowledgeable about gf and other food allergies and will make any accommodations needed. I have several food allergies and went to this location and they made me a meal that wasn’t on the menu. Very few places will customize orders for you to the extent that they do. Highly recommend this location and any Cameron Mitchell restaurant.
