Great food, great service, great drinks! I had the gluten free fish and chips and it was amazing! It wasn’t on their current gluten free menu but I asked the server about it and she said they always have it. I was in heaven. They also brought some delicious gluten free rolls with a sweet sauce before the meal. I got a Bloody Mary with their homemade mix and they double checked the recipe for me to be sure it was gluten free. Left feeling great and satisfied! Will definitely go back next time I’m in Columbus!
It was nice to be offered a gluten free roll, but it was not good. The texture was dry and the taste was bland. I then ordered the BLT. The bacon was wonderful, but the bread (different type of bread than the roll) was dry and not very appetizing. I would not order the BLT again for that reason. The tomato was quite thin too. I tried Cap City based on the great reviews, but I can't say I was impressed. I have paid less at other places and have had better gf food.
We have eaten at Cap City Diner four times (coming from out of town). Two of our experiences have been great; two have been awful. This most recent time we went at lunch and were seated at the diner window where we could look into the kitchen. The waitress did a great job checking my allergies and Celiac considerations. I ordered a piece of fish, some plain rice, and sautéed peppers. They told me they would custom cook my meal just for me. As I got half way through my meal I found a two inch section of noodle. Absolutely baffling. There was NO noodle in my dish or any way that should have happened — and it was buried IN my food. The manager was apologetic and we left without paying for our dinner... but I definitely paid for my meal in other ways. I wish I could recommend Cap City Diner, But 50% of our experiences have ended badly. If you have serious allergies/Celiac, eat at your own risk.
Went three times in April, no problem; went last night, sick as a dog after... I always tell restaurants it's an "allergy" and not a preference because people take it more seriously and rarely understand celiacs and cross-contamination issues.... that obviously failed me this time
Been here dozens of times. My celiac go to. Not many places I feel safe eating, this is one of them. The staff is aware of CC and there's dedicated kitchen space. My celiac cousin, father and I are always here. I'm still trying to find another place I can eat at with consistency and not get sick.
We loved it! GF menu can be viewed online prior. Had a great variety! The boys loved being able to get fries and wings! (Dedicated fryer). The bread was a little dry but... They have it! It's a great option. They brought cinnamon rolls and even provided a GF version! We will be back!
Although they have an extensive gluten free menu, this is not a celiac friendly restaurant. I had a spinach salad with chicken, a cup of soup and creme brûlée and I was unfortunately cross-contaminated after eating there. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for those with celiac.
I chose this restaurant because I have celiac disease and saw it had an extensive gluten free menu. I ordered the pecan crusted pork chops with spinach, but the spinach had clearly been sauteed in a pan that had been used to fry noodles without being washed between use, because there were small pieces of noodle in the spinach. Please be aware this restaurant's staff are not properly trained on allergy cross-contamination. I will not be eating here ever again.
Large gluten free menu and separate frier for the french fries. Great staff who pay attention to allergy issues. I mentioned that I was allergic to dairy as well as gluten. The kitchen staff checked the bakery website to confirm the gluten free bun was also milk free and even brought out an ingredients list for the bun for me to see. Great food. I would definitely eat here again.
This place is amazing! The food was great. Separate GF menu that had a lot of options. I had the GF fish & chips - first time since diagnosed 9 years ago. Heaven! They also serve GF buns and have a GF dessert of the day. Highly recommended.
Loved it here. This is the first place I’ve been where the staff were this knowledgeable about food allergies. When they checked me in to seat me they even marked it for the server assigned to me. Had no issue ordering DF/GF/fish free and felt no judgement from the waitress. The GF buns were amazing. Had a great BLT and cried from a dedicated fryer. So good!
GFDF fish and chips (dairy free without the cole slaw side) are fantastic, as is the calamari appetizer. I wish they had a few more options, especially more dairy free options, but I’m grateful that all Cameron Mitchell restaurants are gluten-sensitive-savvy.
Our waiter was very knowledgeable about how celiac and made a point to talk to the chef about my daughter’s needs. They have both a gf adult menu and a separate gf kids menu!! Go for brunch and they’ll put cinnamon sugar and icing on their gf rolls!
Amazing gf menu. Our waitress was amazing as well. We all ordered off of the gf menu so I could sample everything! The rolls are awesome! I had the amazing salmon, hubby had the fish and chips.. loved it.. daughter had the balsamic chicken. Everything was great and we cannot wait to go back. I only wish it were closer! I'm a celiac and no issues whatsoever today! The atmosphere and music was really great as well. Thank you Cap City!
I am a huge fan of Cap City Diner! The GF menu is extensive and everything was delicious. It’s been many years since I could get beer battered fish and chips in a restaurant. Their GF version is comfort food!! Love the calamari too!
Dec 18, 2018. My wife and I went back for a second meal. This time I had the GF Philly Cheese steak sandwich with a wild rice salad and GF fries. The meal was delicious yet again. One interesting thing that I hadn't noticed during our visit the prior day was that they also have a dedicated kids (under 12) GF menu. Really cool. Dec 17, 2018. I always say that the best GF meals are the ones where I can order almost anything off the menu and it taste good without me getting sick. The Cap City Fine Diner is one of those places. Fantastic gluten-free meal. My wife and I enjoy sharing our meals with each other. In most establishments, this means that she has to eat a subpar meal. This was not the case with the meals on their GF menu. She ordered the pecan-crusted pork chops with cheddar chipotle mashed potatoes. I ordered the beer battered (Red Bridge GF beer) fish and chips from a GF frier. Both meals were absolutely great. For dessert, we had the peppermint bark cheesecake. I posted their GF menu and I'm posting pics of our meals. Wow.
Server was extremely knowledgeable and guided me away from even the GF items that could trigger some of my unique sensitivities. The manager was also knowledgeable about celiac and was very attentive to my needs. I was very impressed and would make the hour-plus trip again for their great food and service. What a treat to dine out and feel completely safe!
Had the gf fish and chips. Very good. Better size gf menu than most places. Dedicated fryer and separate gf kitchen area that they even offered to show me, but I didn't have the time. Even so, that's standing by your establishment!
Dedicated gluten less menu and kitchen (with separate fryer for fries). Time and time again I go to restaurants offering rolls to the table and i sit and stare in sadness... not at Cap City I was offer gf roll that are amazing! Not briteral, dry, or mushy! I ordered the gf all American burger on gf bun it's so filling and classic style burger!! No reaction! Never have I had such knowledgeable and helpful staff when traveling in a new state. I will become to Ohio again for Cap City!
Really exceptional food with some very different options. Fish and chips, awesome. Philly cheesesteak awesome. Reuben sandwich, really good. Calamari was amazing and buffalo wings were great. Cream brûlée very good. Overall excellent. Our waiter Austin was really attentive and accommodating. Jordon, the manager on staff, came over and talked to us for a while and was really nice. Great experience, no one is sick. All gf food is cooked in a separate part of the kitchen. Very safe.
Love this place!!My kids and husband have Celiac Disease and had no problems with the food. Big gluten free menus for kids and adults! Gluten Free dinner rolls before meal was served. My husband had GF breaded fish and my son had GF breaded chicken strips, both were good!!
we went for lunch and it was fantastic. we had the chips with cheese and the calamari appetizers. both were wonderful. I had the gf fish and chips and my husband had the rueben. it was great and I highly recommend this place.
I have celiac disease and hardly ever eat out because I am so afraid of getting sick, but my husband and I decided to try Cap City last night. After being assured that there would be no cross contamination by a very knowledgable staff, I found a non-gf noodle hiding under my fish after eating half of my meal. I understand that mistakes happen but this means that there was no protocol being followed at all. This is unacceptable and I don't think that it is a safe place for celiacs if this kind of mistake can happen.
I forget if it's the head chef or the manager but one of them has a daughter who has celiac so the whole staff is VERY knowledgeable (I can't say the same for the Olentangy location) Wonderful service and amazing food.., I've tried just about everything on the menu and haven't found anything I don't like (hint there are some things on the kids menu not in the adult menu that they will make adult portions for you if you ask... Chicken Romano is AMAZING) Also if you call 48+ hrs ahead of time and know you'll want something gf not on the menu they will find a way to make it gluten free for you while you're there. The gf peanut butter pie is famous too so make sure to save room for desert!
the best Gluten Free food in Columbus area. service staff very knowledgeable about gluten, and cheerfully explained how they avoid cross contamination. GF menu includes sandwiches, burgers WITH buns, and several entrees including fish and chips. Dedicated gluten free fryer. Dinner came with fluffy cinnamon buns, so delicious I had to ask if they were gluten free.
Great food, great staff, and so many gluten free options! Was so happy to have fish and chips gluten free for the first time. They source their gluten free baked items from Holiday Bakery and by far have the best gluten free burger buns I've tasted yet.
