This place just made our day. They have designed the menu and kitchen to be gluten-free safe, and the staff were so kind and helpful it was like coming home (if everyone in your family was awesome). Shout out to Megan who took great care of us and has a family member with celiac disease. The food was great, high quality, unfussy and delicious. They handled multiple allergies well. Save room for the Gluten-free s’mores brownie!

Restaurant has items marked in the menu that are gluten free, vegetarian, or vegan.
Was easy to work with the waitress to get multiple items not marked gluten free to be so.
Staff was very aware, even warned us that the fryer that is usually dedicated gluten free had been cross contaminated and switched my wife’s bacon wrapped scallops to be pan seared with bacon on top rather than flash fried. Also subbed fresh green beans in for the kids fries on the Kobe burgers.
Multiple dessert options as well.
We’ve been twice in our two stays in Asheville and will continue to go back every time we are in town.

Okay, this restaurant isn’t perfect. BUT if you go on Monday when they’ve just cleaned the kitchen and make sure your server has talked to the chef, you will be guaranteed to be safe no matter how sensitive you are. All the rest of the time they’ll do a great job and should be more than safe for all but the most sensitive (like me).

Dedicated “Celiac friendly” (waitress’ words) fryer. And separate prep space for gluten free foods. Some menu items were labeled gluten free, but the burger was not labeled gluten-free although they had gluten free buns. The entire wait staff and kitchen staff was VERY knowledgeable about Celiac and other allergies. They asked a lot of questions.

Very helpful & knowledgeable Staff. COVID safety is good. Food was very good. I had a salad & removed the croutons & added the beef filet which was excellent
The food was very good with gf bread options available, but they were also willing to make ANY substitutions.
Very nice staff

Several gf items marked on the menu. I have eaten there safely several times. Food is always delicious and service is great.

Wonderful experience here! They knew just how to make a Celiac feel comfortable without compromising taste. We ordered the charcuterie board and they served it with warm GF bread. The menu changes monthly because it’s seasonal but they were super accommodating!

There are GF options and staff is knowledgeable. Food was mediocre at best. My husbands food was not good at all. Pricey.
Amazing gluten free options, clearly marked on the menu. The shrimp and grits were some of the best I’ve ever had and they have AMAZING gluten free strawberry shortcake for dessert!
My family visited for brunch. There are only 2 entrees and 2 salads marked as GF but other dishes can be adapted. Omelettes weren’t marked GF just because they come with toast. You can get them without or sub GF toast. They don’t put GF bread in the toaster, they do it separately in the oven. They usually have a dedicated fryer but in the day I was there, someone had messed up and so the chef said I shouldn’t eat anything fried. The waiter was knowledgeable, patient, and very helpful. They had some GF desserts on the menu but were out of the GF cake. The food was great - I had shrimp and grits.

The staff was awful... sold us on a chip app saying it was gluten free and then delivered it and said the dip isn’t safe it has gluten in it. You can just have the plain chips. Our server also told us they had no gluten free salad dressing options and the steak was my safest option . Wish I would have just stuck with my fav restaurants and not tried something new. Too many good choices in Asheville to just go with a place where I can just have the old standby meat and veggies

This is my favorite restaurant in Asheville. I had lunch here and it was absolutely perfect. Great service, didn't get sick, best food in Asheville!

Yummy food- waitress was very knowledgable about GF options.
Great downtown location. Hip vibe. Excellent friendly attentive server, very knowledgable about GF options. Had lunch at the bar. Enjoyed the tomato soup, grilled shrimp skewers with a side of asian slaw. The food was fresh made. The sauce for the shrimp was delicious. The soup and the asian slaw were both ok but bland. Would return for drinks, lunch or dinner.

I can't say enough about Chestnut. We get there at least once every time we are in Asheville. Exceptionally aware staff--we never worry once we tell them my husband is celiac! We just love the food and the whole atmosphere. Love their medium plates--they have a 3 oz filet that they prepare amazing well. Menu changes often, but they always have a delicious lemon bar with lavender ice cream --Yum!

My family and I ate here before the Thanksgiving holiday. Since the menu is printed every day, there is no physical gluten-free menu but the entire staff is extremely aware and the manager preps the staff about allergies. The kitchen goes the extra mile to keep food prep areas clear of cross-contamination. How was the food? Amazing. I picked the Thai curry mussels off the main menu and had a lemon bar with lavender mint ice cream dessert. All I had to say was I couldn't have gluten and our server, Colleen, handled the rest. The food and service quality was better than you'd expect.
