Ordered the bone in wings (dry rub), cheese steak nachos, and crab fries ( no seafood, cheese on the side). I really miss fried foods and this place hits the spot. We had take out so I cant comment on the knowledge of the wait staff. The person who took our order confirmed there is a dedicated fryer for all these items. Side note: Philly cheesesteak was delicious for my non celiac partner. He said the bread was soft, I gave him the side eye. Lol 😂
What a great place! The appetizer we split was HUGE! Enough for two as dinnner. We had buffalo chicken nachos. Amazing! The place was busy, the server was friendly and careful with our order. We stopped here to grab something to eat before a comedy club show. It was perfect. Lots of options for us gluten free folk! No need to worry about choices - except making one. I’m now a fan of Chickie and Pete’s and will carefully try them out in other cities as well.
Menu notes their famous crab fries as being gluten-free
The crab nachos were good however the wait staff did not seem super knowledgeable about gluten allergies. When I asked the person who brought out my food if it was gluten-free, she had no idea and said to ask the server. The server never came back, so I was unable to ask. Definitely asked for the gluten-free menu, as none of the items are listed on the main menu.
We recently stayed at Atlantic City boardwalk we tried this restaurant strictly because I saw a gluten sensitivity menu posted in this app and I was excited about the crab fries! Let me tell you they were so good. I also had crab legs. We had such a positive experience (pleasant and I didn’t get sick) we went back a second time on our trip! Second time we went late night for apps crabfries again and the street corn nachos both were delicious and didn’t get sick either visit!
Not sure about this place. Hostess didn’t know much. Bartender looked at me like I was nuts when I asked for a GF menu. Then magically pulled out a “GF sensitive” menu which the ironic naming the convention kills me. Just menu items that naturally don’t have gluten. Got the jumbo shrimp cocktail which weren’t plain but rather dusted in old bay and the dry rub wings also coated in old bay. Told they use dedicated fryers. Wings were pretty good. No real noticeable issues.
No specific gluten free menu but they are able to modify a few things. I got a burger with no bun. I did not get sick.
I gave 4 stars because we went there twice during our stay. We went for lunch one afternoon and that visit was a good experience, but when we went around 12 am the next time the service was terrible.
I've eaten here a few times and never had any issues. I let the waitress know I had celiac and she checked everything with the cook to be sure I was safe. The fries are cooked in a dedicated fryer and I never had any problems with them (though everything else fried goes into a shared fryer). If you don't mind a burger without a bun, there are a good range of options on the burgers. You just need to communicate clearly with the staff. Go and enjoy.
Very limited menu (basically only meat) and Unknowledgable staff (my waiter asked the manager about dedicated frier and took 20 min to get back to me with info.... It was NOT busy) more expensive than it seems: the $18 crabs legs don't come with a side dish, that's extra Many things come with weird sauces and seasonings that aren't in the menu description.
They do not have a dedicated fryer so the only options for me (I have celiac) were steamed clams, crabs, lobster, and burgers with no buns (though I would not really be sure I would trust getting the burger because they have zero training for cross-contamination. No side dishes available for gf or non-gf people. Left hungry and paid $13 for a bowl of steamed clams. The food we are was very tasty, but disappointing for someone who has celiac and can't have cross contaminated food. Would not recommend for someone with celiac unless you want to leave hungry.
How can this restaurant say they're offering a separate GF menu and then list burgers as being without the bun -- and sandwiches without the roll?? --seriously, how lazy can you be? it's sooo easy to procure GF buns and rolls -- so why would a place of this size with multiple locations go to the trouble and expense of printing GF menus and then not stock something so simple...? crazy...waste of time. what's the fun of eating crab fries with a burger without a bun -- tough to pick up. waste of a trip and an amateur approach to doing business. it's a pretty far distance from my house, so it's disappointing -- just know this before you go.
Chickie's and Pete's has a gluten free menu and server was knowledgeable. I had crab fries and shrimp and did not get sick. We sat inside so I cannot speak for their outside boardwalk walk up stand but if you sit in the restaurant and speak with a server you should be fine. Apparently all their locations have a dedicated fryer for their crab fries.
Not safe. My family and I went here because everyone kept saying crab fries at Chickie's and Pete's are safe. I got three different stories from three people. Initially I was handed a GF menu, and I was SO excited. Then I was told that's old and they don't do that anymore. Then I was told I could still have the fries or some other items (like a burger, sans bun), then the kitchen manager came out and told me nothing is safe from cross contamination, fryer included. Naturally, I didn't feel safe and wouldn't eat anything. I sat there and cried into my glass of champagne while the rest of my family ate. As usual. An insanely frustrating experience.
Wow! We had an amazing meal tonight. Started with their signature French fries. Next, peel your own shrimp, steam clams, and crab legs. The GM, William Cooney came out to talk to me and assured me that their kitchen follows all safety protocol for allergies. We will definitely be back!
I have celiac and I always get their crab fries! They are very serious when it comes to making sure it’s safe. Whenever I talk to a server they always go and double check to make sure. It’s a separate fryer for fries and the sauce is safe too! I have a bunch of other allergies and they were very helpful with helping me find out if it was safe!
Don’t waste your time - lol $18 for fries with “crab seasoning” on them. The GF menu is burgers without buns or nachos. I settled with the fries (which they claim to have an individual fryer for). I’m already having issues so I don’t think that’s accurate. I wouldn’t bother. Go somewhere else!!!!!
