Definitely worth a night out! Amazing atmosphere. Delicious food. Great bartender! (What’s up Garrett!) almost everything on the menu can be gluten free. They have a dedicated GF fryer. I had their frites and they were delicious! Also offered a GF baguette with sea salt butter. Yum! I ordered the steak frites with the hangar steak and my husband got the beef bourguignon. Both were delicious. We also tried the floating island for dessert.
We all really enjoyed our food! Two got boeuf bourgignon, one duck, and I got bass (I’m the only restricted diet). The tian provencal was especially good. They don’t have a dedicated fryer, so not everything handmarked on the GF menu is Celiac-safe. The GF bread’s texture reminded me of Olive Garden’s breadsticks, which was nice (but as always everywhere don’t expect actual French baguette).
I had read online that this restaurant was good for gluten free eaters. While there there were at least two other parties that, like me, were gluten free. Our waitress was amazing and knew exactly what could and could not be made gluten free, even explaining that the fryer was not a dedicated GF fryer that day (but some days it is cleaned and then it would be). She said a good majority of the menu was GF or could be modified. She was amazing and we really appreciated her. When at the bar before our meal, we heard another party inquiring about GF options and the bar tender seemed much less aware about this. He told them things that our waitress told us were safe. Perhaps the bar staff could use more education on gluten free and Celiac diners.
We had the warm, gluten free baguette to start (definitely a Schar baguette, but still amazing!) with delicious salted butter. We split the braised beef cheeks that normally come with chickpea fries. Our waitress warned us that this day, the fryer would not be clean, but other days, they do clean it so it would be safe then. Instead, we had what I would call a ratatouille for a side and it was so flavorful and delicious. For dessert, we were able to have the Three Crèmes! Crème Brûlée, caramel crème, and a chocolate crème. They were all amazing but the crème brûlée stood out. We will definitely be back, hopefully on a day the fryer is clean so we can enjoy the frites!
But overall, we had such a good experience and were so thankful for the GF baguette especially, that is such a rarity!
I was just diagnosed with Celiac and this was my first time out in a restaurant. I was very unsure and am still learning. My server was wonderful. She was completely familiar with all ingredients in each of the dishes. She quickly pointed out to me the few items that could not be served gluten free. She described their kitchen practices to keep food items separate. She knew all foods cooked in their frier (their frites are safe!) there were so many options and everything was delicious. My group shared GF baguette, beet salad, scallops, mussels and steak frites with triple crème dessert. Everything was wonderful and I can’t wait to go back! My gluten eating party loved every bite and commented how satisfied they all felt. Can’t wait to go back!
They do not have a dedicated GF menu, but their menu states most of our food items can be prepared and served GF, please get details from your server. There were only about 3 items on the large menu I could not order. Different servers brought out our dishes and all commented on the gluten free status of each item served.
