As other people have mentioned, they were able to modify a number of dishes to be gluten-free. I am very sensitive, I wouldn’t try something with rum because it’s barrel-aged and the barrel might be “gluteny”. They were incredibly gracious about it; I’m also largely vegan and the only response was, “Chef loves to create new dishes” I rarely have high expectations, fortunately I was never a “foodie,” but it’s always nice to feel nourished in a conventional restaurant.

We had a wonderful dinner at Commander’s Palace. Although the menu isn’t marked, our server was able to guide us through the gluten free choices, and what dishes could be modified. Food, service and ambiance were fantastic.

My friend who is gluten and dairy intolerant had a good meal, lots of the jazz brunch options could be adapted, but a sorbet for dessert (because of dairy). I truly appreciate the care the team took, when I identified that I have celiac and a corn allergy. Unfortunately, they use a stock base with corn in it, so all sauces and prepared vegetables/ rice dishes were a no for me. They offered a salad with no croutons, a grilled piece of meat and separately prepared vegetables, with no sauce. A million points for safety, but it just wasn’t a special meal at that point so I enjoyed a martini and conversation while my table mates dined.

Had a wonderful experience! Started with a rosemary and cauliflower soup, strawberry salad, shrimp entree and ice cream for dessert. There was no gluten-free menu but the wait staff was knowledgeable and attentive. The 25c martinis were a plus!!

Disappointing experience! When I made the reservation online, there was a place to indicate that we had a GF diner in our party, but it doesn’t seem that anyone was aware. Upon being seated, my daughter informed the waiter that she was GF, and her told her that all of the entrees without substitution were GF (his exact words). He pointed out that the gumbo was not but the soup of the day was. When he came back to take our order, she asked if the cannelloni entree was GF since it’s pasta, and he told her it was not. One of the other entrees also mentioned farro, which is not GF, so be sure to ask a lot of questions before you order! She wound up ordering a salad, asked if it was GF, was told it was, but then had to remind them that the pecan tuille it came with would not be. They just didn’t seem as knowledgeable about GF as they claimed when we were seated. Someone else brought a loaf of bread and set it down directly in front of my daughter, which I consider rude after she’s clearly pointed out she can’t eat it. If you want dessert, be sure to ask for the a la carte dessert menu because it’s got things on it that I saw people getting but weren’t on our menu (bananas foster, which should have been GF and we would have ordered it but we were never offered a dessert menu). My and my daughter’s food was very good but my husband’s was not. So just a very disappointing experience all around.

Our server was highly attentive and told me I could order just about anything on the menu and they'd make it gluten free. She wasn't wrong. I ordered the shrimp appetizer that had gluten in it, and it took a few more minutes than the rest of my party's food -- but it came out, totally glutenless. I ordered a tamale entree that was naturally gluten free, and a peach ice cream dessert that came out with brown sugar sprinkles on top. The waitress literally ran back to my table and scooped it up about 20 seconds later, saying there was likely gluten in the sprinkles. She apologized profusely and then brought me another one. Fortunately, I didn't have a reaction to the tiny bite I took.
All in all, they were super attentive and the kitchen clearly knows its stuff even if that mistake was made.

Restaurant was very friendly and went above and beyond. Waitress took one of the menus and marked okay or not okay on every single item for me! Food was great and I did not get sick.

Came here for a work dinner and was impressed. They didn’t have a gluten free menu, but the staff was knowledgeable about the products. Not many non-seafood options. I got the duck and cream brûlée!

This a great special occasion restaurant for anyone with celiac. Be sure to mention it when you make a reservation and they will be ready to help with menu options of which there were many. Unfortunately some of the more renowned dishes are off limits like the turtle soup and the bread pudding soufflé. I had the grilled whole gulf fish which was cooked to perfection and their creme brûlée is one of the best I’ve ever had. Very attentive staff even on a busy holiday weekend evening. I felt great the next day.
Yes
Very knowledgeable I noted I was celiac on the rezzy and the staff knew from just that. Excellent food though may be too pricey for some.
Yes
Knowledgeable staff about celiac and world class service. One of the best restaurants anywhere and one of the best dining experiences you will have anywhere. I've been over 20 times, and it always impresses. Eating gluten-free and vegetarian there's no problem there. I'm not sure about the negative review... I always get crème brûlée for dessert. But no, you can’t have the strawberry shortcake. That’s how celiac disease works.

Old, over priced and they really don’t understand what is gluten free. Waiter tried to insist that farro was ok for me. When I asked that it not be on my plate I still found a few kernels under my vegetables. Be very careful if you choose to go.

What an amazing place. A must go! GF safe and educated. They were on top of it. We noted on reservation. The service was superb. I over indulged. Had a wonderful evening!!!!!

The staff was great re celiac. No real dessert options except ice cream. Food was OK, though much less wonderful than expected. had 2 non celiacs with me. would not go back.
one of the best restaurants in the country. exceptional service. no gluten-free menu but the will accommodate. the 25 cent martinis @ lunch are always gluten free.
Wonderful meal. I am not only gluten free but a vegetarian as well. The staff was very knowledgeable which allowed for a very memorable meal. I cannot wait to return.

Absolutely delicious! Amazing service! Try the oysters. The quail was fantastic and filling. Great coffee and creme brûlée!
Amazing place!! The staff is extremely knowledgable and the food is incredible!!
Albeit a little overpriced and the decor pretty dated, this seminal NOLA spot has some incredible flavors. Our server was really knowledgable about ingredients and modifications and said almost anything could be tweaked to be gf. I had the three course menu with compressed melon salad, bbq shrimp and brie grits, and the creme brûlée to finish. An excellent meal that I would've rated five stars except the back room smelt mildewy and my companions rated their meals only ok.
