Excellent!! Huge two page gf menu that’s been updated recently. I had Napa chicken salad (my go to) & salmon. Love the gf bread they bring you. I also love the Parmesan crusted chicken they make. 4 delicious dessert options (I love the s’more one & the truffles) This place has the most extensive gf menu I’ve ever seen & it’s all so delicious! This is my favorite restaurant. Highly recommend!!!
Literally everything that could have gone wrong did. Our server has allergies and said he understood them well and takes then seriously. I told him I needed to order off the gf menu. He brings out regular bread to our table. I told my husband to go ahead and eat it. He said he'd bring gf bread. It took over an hour for it to be brought out. We ordered an app off the gf Menu. They brought it out with Wonton's on top that were not gf. An hour after we got there we were eating our newly made app. Then we order entrees and Caesar salad. Again, specify it needed to be gf, and NO croutons on the salad. No salad arrives, but our entrees did. I told them we didn't get our salad. Several minutes pass and the salad comes out with croutons all over it. I started crying at this point. This was our anniversary dinner and I just needed it to not be like this. Clearly they don't have a clue about what it means to serve gluten free items. If you choose to eat here, do it at your own risk and be hyper vigilant.
They brought out gluten free bread and seemed very knowledgeable about celiac.
My group of friends wanted to go out to eat at a place that was safe for my celiac needs to have a Christmas dinner together. We chose Cooper’s Hawk because of the their gf menu. Our server was extremely rude the entire night and was hardly around for the 3 hours we were there (week night—not a busy weekend night). I told her I had celiac disease and needed a GF menu. She never brought the menu so we asked another server for one. I clarified that I had celiac disease when I ordered. She said she knew in a very irritated voice. When my food was brought out by the kitchen staff, no one said it was GF. I asked them to check. They said there was some sort of allergy label and did not go back to double check like I asked. I took the risk to eat my fillet because I didn’t want to ruin the night for my friends and none of the staff I talked to was helpful. I thought I might have had a reaction from it because my stomach was off that night. My reaction was confirmed and full blown a couple of days later right after I ate the leftovers. I have been a wine club member for quite some time—very disappointing night and service.
NIMA tested the GF Broiled Grouper. It came back with Gluten Found. The manager didn't really seem to care and tried to blame it on CC. When I informed her NIMA doesn't pick that up, and that it had to be pretty high levels, she disregarded it. She did remove it from our bill. I was able to test and eat the Shaved Brussels Salad.
I’m not convinced they understand what GF means. I ordered grilled fish off the GF menu, which came w/ ‘Asian Slaw’…one bite and I tasted soy sauce. I had the server go ask if it was soy or tamari; she reported there was ‘a little bit of soy sauce’ in the dressing. I had to explain that regular soy sauce contains wheat - NO-NO for GF patrons and asked that they take this item off the GF menu. Otherwise, I had to ask for some lemon wedges to squeeze over my completely plain fish and rice to give it some flavor. For the price, they should do better than this.
Great dinner at Cooper’s Hawk. Decent GF menu and nice atmosphere. I had a shrimp salad and my daughter had a burger with GF bun, mashed potatoes and fruit. We had a flourless chocolate cake that was delicious and there was a few choices for dessert. The rest of our family enjoyed their regular food too. There was a little delay in finding out if we could get a table or not, but once we were finally seated, the service was great.
This is our new favorite restaurant for the whole family- the gluten free menu is so big on its own and the regular menu for gluten eaters even bigger so we can all find things and return and not eat the same thing every time! Everyone was definitely familiar with precautions and celiac and we felt really good about it. Definitely recommend.
I’ve eaten at the one near my house a lot and have never had issues. Had the same experience at this one, fantastic food and I’m not sick at all. It’s so nice they have gf bread available, they also have a surprising amount of gf options and their chefs take great precautions
I’ve dined here several times and have always had a great experience. There are a lot of gluten free options, staff is knowledgeable, and the food is excellent! It’s the only place I’ve dined where they offer to bring gluten free bread to the table before the meal at no extra charge. They even have gf desserts.
I used to be a member but the last few times I went it was clear something was going on in their kitchen. Last TWO times I left feeling ill. I just think they don’t take Celiac disease and nondairy seriously so I canceled the membership and have moved on permanently. Very disappointing!
The service at this location leaves a little to be desired, but you just can’t beat the selection of GF options. I’ve eaten at various CH locations many, many times over the past few years and never once had an issue. Their chopped wedge salad, short rib risotto, and turkey burger are stand-out favorites.
I’ve been here several times and did ok, but it only takes one waiter for me never to return again. He just didn’t care to listen and must of thought my requesting GF was purely a diet thing. I didn’t trust my food and I was sick before I even left the place.
Best gf bread I’ve ever had at a restaurant (warm, moist, and good consistency), excellent selection of gf food items, including desserts, and good wine too!
One of the beat steaks I have ever had. My best friend is celiac and she was so excited to have a full gluten free menu and so many delicious options. She even got a glutem free roll while I got my pretzel roll! Overall a fantastic experience.
Chose this location for Thanksgiving after a great experience at the Merrillville location. Sad to say this was not an overly positive experience. Most of our family members have Celiac, and we ordered from the menu. There were fewer choices than the other location, and there was not a separate kitchen. Waitress suggested fries as a side, but manager told us they were unsafe after they were already on my daughter's plate at the table. We ordered GF buns for both girls' sandwiches, and both came out on a wheat bun. Staff was less than apologetic about the multiple mistakes. Thanksgiving food was not as good as their regular menu items. Bread at this location was different than Merrillville and not as good. Thankfully none of us got sick, so I will go ahead and give 3 stars... Sadly, not sure I will be back despite positive reviews from Celiac friends. My daughter would have been very ill if she had eaten the bread before we discovered the mistakes.
I loved the sweet/romance red wine & the chocolate, but they did feed me regular bread the first time I was there. I ended up sick!
This is the third time I’ve been to a Cooper’s hawk and first time at this location. All have been safe! The manager did not come talk to me like at the other locations but the food tested :) with my Nima and did not make me sick! I always get the Parmesan crusted chicken and my boyfriend got the gluten-free gnocci carbonara and loved it!
