My twin and I were both told different things about what was gluten free by two different workers who clearly had no idea. Then after specifically ordering gluten free meals both mine and my twin's salads were brought out with rolls on the salads. The whole experience was very uncomfortable and the staff seemed annoyed that we were even asking.
No GF baked goods. They offer a "gluten conscious" wrap but my daughter worked here and said everything including the salads get contaminated. Don't eat here if you are celiac or v gluten sensitive.
They have little or no gf foods so don't go here at all
The staff claims no gf options
Very few things are actually gf. Only plan on getting a salad. The staff didn't know what they were talking about with gf. I sent soup back because they forgot to keep the wafers off it and it came back with some still in it because they scooped them out. Not impressed.
There "gluten free bread" is a wrap, it is the worst wrap I have ever tasted in my life. If I were to describe how it tasted I would say that it tasted like turkey wrapped in play-do.. just awful, don't eat here. I paid almost ten dollars to eat play-do, the best part was the pickle they gave me on the side. I'm not a picky person, but they would have to pay me at least two hundred dollars to eat that wrap again!
I have gone to other Corner Bakery locations without a problem. I went to this location at the Promenade yesterday and it was a nightmare. I asked the person at the counter if they had a gf menu or allergy list. She said no but they have gf wraps they can make any of the sandwiches with. So I asked which sandwich meats were gf. She said "the only gf thing we have is the wraps" so I asked what goes in them and she was confused. Again I asked if they had an allergen list. She pulled out a book and proceeded to read a list of "gf items." It sounded weird because she was listing croutons. I asked if I could see it. She was listing every item where there was a check for "contains gluten" as the ones that were gluten free. I spoke to the manager and he did not seem much clearer on it. If this was an anaphylactic allergy, they could have killed someome...
So, very recently ate here with my kids. Very little in the way of options for me (Celiac with a dairy allergy too). I got the only thing I could which was a flat-bread style sandwich. I ended up having the most meat in my sandwich of the 4 of us. And I'm usually the vegetarian. But that option was practically nil as well. Okay pricing for this area and typical. About $9/person for sandwich and tiny soup. Thin sandwiches for all 3 kids. (we were all hungry about an hour later) Only dairy or gluten soups available, no options without GF/DF. No desserts were GF nor DF. Lack of a substantial sandwich will not bring us there again, although they tasted good, the value wasn't there, honestly.
They do not have gluten free option any more except for breakfast
My daughter had scrambled eggs with bacon and GF bread which she thoroughly enjoyed. The person who took our order was Gluten aware. I was a bit nervous about cross contamination, but she experienced no Gluten reactions and she is super sensitive. The only GF bakery option was bread.
My food came out covered in breadcrumbs and my husband's omelette was way undercooked. Sent it back, respecified gluten free, and got a new scrambler for me and it still came back with toast on the plate. I tried to remove all the crumbs. In the end I got really sick.... Like the sickest I've been in years.... and my husband (who is not celiac) didn't enjoy it either.
While this location has gf to indicate gluten free items their staff does not seem to be very informed. The Anaheim scrambler indicated it was gluten free when I asked the cashier she said no substitutions were necessary but I could choose potatoes or fruit. That cashier turned to get my coffee and another cashier walked up to complete the transaction I asked her again if any substitutions needed to be made for gluten free she said that it came with bread and I asked for no bread. My meal came out and it was clear that bread had been placed on the plate and removed because there were crumbs everywhere. I would not trust the gf indicators on their menu since they also indicate the oatmeal is gluten free but when I inquired they said it was regular oatmeal not explicitly gluten free oats used.
My son and I had the American scramble I told them we were GFree and ours came with a Gf tortilla instead of toast, no up charge and the scrambles were marked as GF on the menu. No issues with getting GF. Have 4 stars merely for lack of choices but we had two sensitive Celiacs eat there with no issues.
There were some gluten free options on the menu, specifically noted with a gf symbol. However, they did not have gf bread as it said on their menu, only a wrap, but it was decent. They did use a lot of meat and toppings inside the wrap. I would recommend it, but not a favorite.
Corner Bakery recently started offering GF bread (at least at the location in my area). They also have an extensive ingredients binder behind their counter. If you decide to eat there, allow time to read the binder to help in your selection making. It goes without saying that there is always a risk of cross contamination.
I went for breakfast. Had researched some online so knew there might be a few options. Went to the line and asked what gluten free options they had. The lady said "we have bread, that's it. Gluten free bread" I looked at her dumbfounded. I said I thought you had some scrambles that were GF. She didn't know even though they were marked GF on the board and menu. I took a few minutes to look over the menu then decided to place my order with another worker. I said I'd like this scramble. Can you tell me if it is GF - she looked at me like I was stupid and said "what about a scramble wouldn't be gluten free" so I asked about the pan and if it it was cooked where pancakes or French toast was cooked. I swear I've never felt so bad for asking a few simple questions very nicely I might add. So after she said they are cooked in a desperate pan I decided I would try in with the fresh fruit. Wasn't going to chance the potatoes. I should have followed my gut literally and walked out. 5 min after eating I'm back at the hotel sick. Sucks on vacation for sure! Would not recommend unless you're just a fad GF eater.
