I told them I needed gluten free and everyone changed their gloves and they offered me corn tortillas for my salad. I got everything on the pork salad and it was so tasty and I felt great afterwards. Highly recommend

Just mentioned really quick that I needed gluten free and I watched every person down the line change their gloves. They clearly have this down
Yes
Staff changed gloves down the line without being asked. The person who took my initial order was very knowledgeable and quick to tell me what was okay. I got the sweet pork salad and ordered it with everything on it, as well as chips and queso. Will definitely go back, it was heavenly.

From their allergen list: We have worked diligently to remove wheat gluten from all our sauces, dressings, and proteins. Natural glutens remain only in our flour and wheat tortillas and in two desserts--tres leches and key lime pie. This means that we offer "oceans of gluten-free options" in our menu. All of these items are gluten-free: all enchiladas, all tacos, all salads (without the flour or wheat tortilla), all nachos, and our chicken tortilla so up...which uses corn strips.
I let them know I have celiac and mine needed to be gluten free. First guy changed his gloves and asked if I wanted the gluten free tortillas. He then passed my food down the line where the rest of the team hadn't changed their gloves. They grabbed the tin with their gloves touching the inside. They then passed it down the line where the next person did the same. And again with the cashier. Needless to say I won't be going back there. I am tired of places claiming to have gluten friendly items, but have such poor training on how to handle the food appropriately. Eateries need to stop asking if its allergy or preference and treat them both the same because employees get lax on the way they handle the food. People will keep getting sick until the state requires more training for food handling.

I love costa vida and their dedication to GF!
Fabulous - no cross contamination. They always change their gloves or will at least ask if it’s a glove change before serving their food. A lot of the staff will even take time to wash their hands (up to their elbows) before putting gloves back on. I always get a salad with corn tortillas. :)

They are NOT celiac friendly whatsoever! If you want gluten free for your diet then go for it but if you have celiacs DO NOT EAT HERE!

I eat here a lot. There are two things I wish this location would do differently with the food handling; First, have the first person that changed their gloves take my food all the way down the line. Sometimes the 2nd and 3rd employee change their gloves and sometimes they don't (but they use tongs for everything so I usually don't complain as long as they don't touch the food). Other locations have one person handle the entire process but this location for some reason wants to pass the food down. I've had the 2nd person touch the food with gloves that haven't been changed and I make them start over. Second, if ordering nachos, they use the same drawer of chips for GF orders and non-GF orders. Yes, they changed their gloves to get the chips out of the drawer but the last 10 orders before it were with contaminated gloves so the chips themselves are suspect at that point. I've been told by other celiacs that other locations have a dedicated chip drawer for GF orders. So, these are my two complaints with this location.

My absolute favorite! I've never gotten sick from eating here!

I eat here a lot, tell them first thing you are gluten free and they will immediately change their gloves. The dressings, meats, and everything else besides the wheat tortillas are gluten free. Deliciousness and the knowledgable staff make this a favorite.

Perhaps the best GF safe restaurant I've ever been to. I've been to several around Utah, Idaho and Arizona. Go, you'll like it.
I have eaten here since they opened, and with their careful attention to avoiding cross contamination, it is by far my favorite place for good mex comfort food.

Love how careful they are. They never make you feel bad either!

They immediately change their gloves when you say you are GF! And they keep the GF corn tortillas separate from the flour tortillas! Try the pork enchiladas--so good!

We eat here once a week at least my favorite restaurant so careful with gluten free
Great option, great service. Everything is gluten free except the tortillas. They do have gluten free tortillas. They willingly change their gloves. Lastly, they have gluten free dessert!!!
Love their food!
They treat you well and make sure to avoid cross contamination, and their food is always great, and fresh
They have lots of GF ingredients and are pretty knowledgeable about their ingredients. They are improving, but still have lots of cross-contamination with the utensils and grill. LOVE the food, though!!!!
Really know how to take care of someone with celiac. Wonderful food.

We eat at Costa Vida a lot. This location really followed all of the gluten free protocols that a lot of other Costa’s have gotten lax about. There is always a chance of cross contamination in an assembly line restaurant. But they definitely minimized that risk and were kind about it, too.

They said they took measures to prevent cross contamination both times I went, but both times I got very sick anyway. I even attended a catered event where the coordinators made sure the food was safe (on their end) for me, and still got sick, so the cooking process of the food is unsafe.

Very impressed with this location. I told them I had a gluten allergy and the attendant changed his gloves and grabbed me a tray that was in a separate location (instead of from the ones near the flour tortillas) and they keep the blue corn tortillas in a separate location too. Another employee attempted to grab my tin and he announced that it was a gluten friendly meal - she immediately put her hands up and stepped away. Staff is very understanding of cross contamination procedures and nearly everything on the menu is gluten free. They have an allergen menu listed on their website - lots of dairy free options as well!
