Salad was served with crackers and biscuits although waitress was told 3 times no crackers..no croutons..no biscuits. She offered to take the crackers off and have the kitchen replace food just where the crackers were. NO! Hubby had salad for late dinner.
"I was told by the hostess to tell you server that you are gluten free and then they will bring the manager to speak to you. When you order the manager will flag your order for extra precaution." Update: 4/2016 Ask for a gluten free menu... They have one- in the nutritional information guide. Servers very nice and understanding.
Not celiac friendly. The server didn't know anything about the gluten free options and seemed annoyed when asked about them. We ended up leaving because I didn't feel that I could safely eat here.
My young daughter has celiac. The menu does not have a lot of options, but the new allergy menu helped me know what had gluten. The manager came out to help us and actually prepared the breakfast herself and brought it out separately. They were so accommodating and careful. I would give 4 stars for the lack of options but I give 5 stars for customer service.
The waiter was very knowledgeable and got a manager to come out and show me the ingredients in the grilled chicken strips marinade. He also brought us an allergen menu so we could see what in their menu contained gluten. He then said they would cook them on foil to avoid contamination. My son got corn for his side. We also got bacon and eggs for him. We will definitely go back.
The staff offered a gluten free menu, carried my daughters food out on a separate tray from our food. The gluten free options are very limited, eggs, yogurt, spiced apples, fresh fruit, and a few other things for the breakfast menu. They don’t have gluten free bread items though. Luckily my daughter wasn’t picky. I was just happy with the care they took with my daughter food and providing us with a menu made it easier.
While I appreciate that they offered me a gluten free menu, the options were only side dishes. They warned that anything else on the menu would be cross contaminated because they share a griddle with pancakes. Wish they had at least a dedicated portion of a griddle!
I told them I have a severe gluten allergy. My salad came out loaded with croutons. I sent it back & explained cross contamination.They brought back the same salad.I was eating it & discovered croutons in the bottom of the salad.Cracker Barrel normally is a safe option while traveling for my job, but I will not be back to this location.
The staff was great but a lot of Bloggers list tons of “gluten free menu options”. Unfortunately they items are naturally gluten free but they aren’t prepared in a way that prevents cross contamination. I ended up eating two eggs and a yogurt. Not really worth the stop. Unfortunately I already know a few of the local restaurants from stopping thru and they are even worse for gluten free. At least they are honest about not being able to prepare food safely. 5 stars for the staff 1 Star for the menu options.
Super nice staff, but I have to agree with the other reviews. The gluten free menu was so limited-eggs, fruit, and that’s about it. Didn’t make a lot of sense since there was more on the dairy free menu than the gluten free. I tried the ham steak, baked potato, and baby carrots. That was last night. Today my stomach is giving me trouble and feels bloated. I guess they do cook everything together.
2019- this review has nothing to do with the staff. They were great!! BUT I’m very disappointed in Cracker-barrel. One reason is they have no clue how to put together their new allergy menu. I think it’s been done by a person who has no idea or interest in the subject matter. I come here with my husband who enjoys the turkey and dressing which he says is very good but me...I love the vegetables but I have to make sure I don’t mess up all my hard work healing from years of torcher. Look at the allergy menu! You need to go back to the drawing board. 2018The veggies here are very delicious!
Nice staff and in fact manager came to the table me to verify I could eat, as not to fully dedicated prep area. His mom also has wheat allergy and he was concerned with the level I may have. Very understanding and also quite attentive to making sure I had a good experience and meal.
The restaurant had an allergen menu which I was excited about, until I looked at it and realized there aren’t many options. You can basically just have eggs or yogurt for breakfast. The breakfast meats are gluten free but they are cooked on a shared grill so not safe for celiacs. The staff working that day was not familiar with celiac disease or cross contamination.
We had read options online, suggestion grilled chicken, pork chops and other options. Got there and asked if they had a separate menu. Our server said “yes, but it’s VERY small”. We ended up with 2 eggs, fried apples, baked sweet potato and pinto beans. We are both very sick now, only 1.5 hours later :(
We came here for breakfast and disappointed to see there was not many options, (not a menu, just a list) the only breakfast item they had was egg, fresh fruit, and yogurt. I Would say not celiac friendly since they couldn't tell me or guarantee me if other items in the regular menu were GF.
Had breakfast of bacon and eggs here. Also had grilled chicken tenders dinner with mashed potatoes and green beans. Decent food for a decent price. I was confused with the allergen menu they gave me, so I started pulling info from different websites about what the chain has that's GF (which is a lot). Not sure if celiac friendly.
Ok, so I would like to have NEVER expected a CRACKER BARRELL to be Gluten Friendly, but I went to one with my Non-Celiac Family on vacation, and the Manager at this location not only knew what gluten was, he made me my breakfast (2 scrambled eggs with cheese, 3 strips of bacon, & a side of hashbrowns) adeptly because his daughter has Celiac, hypoglycemia & cannot eat dairy. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed eating like types food as my family with my family & felt FINE all day long!! Thank you, Cracker Barrel!!!
I had to go online to find my options and even then I couldn’t do what other suggested. All of their meats have been seasoned or fried already, so you can’t ask for them to do it plain. I had the sugar ham with steamed broccoli and mashed potatoes which was fine. The staff I had wasn’t very knowledgable, but then again I came at a time that was SUPER busy and didn’t ask any other questions. If you go to celiac-disease.com they have a list of what is most likely safe.
They have food allergy menu, just ask. Son ordered off regular menu, the signature cheese burger and asked they remove the bun. It was an awesome experience in my son's eye's so we will be back.
Staff was friendly & tried to be helpful. At one point three employees were searching for the ONE gf menu in the Tallahassee restaurant. They never found it. I felt safe eating bacon & eggs but was disappointed they do not have gf waffles, pancakes, biscuits, etc.
Gluten free menu online 0 consistent with restaurant. Hostess unaware of what gluten was. Did have 1 menu for allergies available in the restaurant. Did not eat here due to above.
They do have a separate GF menu, however it is limited to a few vegetable sides. No entrees or desserts are GF. Food and service is reasonable, but they certainly have not tried very hard to become celiac friendly.
Didn't have anything other than vegetables on the gluten-free menu. Ordered a plain side salad, green beans and a baked potato. They couldn't even bring my food all at the same time. By the time I received my potato, the rest of my group had finished eating. The potato wasn't cooked completely, the green beans were ok, the salad had brown edged lettuce.
I had a horrible experience last time I went here. I would not recommend it to anyone! I can’t fathom why it is even coming up on this app. The waitress told me “Ma’am, we serve comfort foods here and if you can’t eat those, you are at the wrong place!” 😡 Wish I could give it zero stars.
Cracker Barrel needs to step up their game! It shouldn’t be impossible this day and time to find food on a restaurant menu that doesn’t contain gluten. It’s crazy! You can’t hardly eta anything here if you are celiac!
Had breakfast there. Very friendly staff, but they only offered eggs, yoghurt without granola and fruits on their GF breakfast menu. I asked for GF bread, there was none which was very dull (couldn’t they just have GF bread in the freezer, and keep a separate toaster for the GF bread? Or put GF bread in a plastic bag and microwave it. Like other restaurants do). Also they don’t seem to know the difference between “wheat “ and “gluten”, since they got it mixed up in the menu.
Very few breakfast options for GF. My daughter and I both had tummy issues after eating there today. Seem to be less accommodating than in previous years. Do have an allergy menu that lists items in major allergen categories . No meats on the wheat free list. All are cooked on common griddle. My daughter only had poached eggs and still had issues.
