Absolutely delicious meal that felt very safe. Our server was very knowledgeable - she mentioned she had a friend with celiac and walked us through how everything was prepared. The menu changes daily so the preparation may change slightly as well, but they were willing to spend time making me feel safe eating.
I ate a delicious plate of arroz con gandules with vegetables and tostones, but there were many GF options that included meat and seafood

This place was incredible. The food was authentic, the waitress (owner?) was friendly and the atmosphere fun. They knew all about celiac and I felt very comfortable eating there. So good

Good food, but rude servers. We have a celiac that needs to eat gluten free. Menu is written in Spanish on the board. Server wasn’t knowledgeable about what was gluten free. We went with the safest dish, steak and vegetables and it was there was no reaction. Too much of a gamble if you need to eat gluten free. No reservations. You have to wait in line outside for a table. While waiting, a tour guide escorted in 15 people to cut the line, because they have a relationship with the restaurant. Table was sticky and wobbly. I would get take out only from this place. Rum drinks are very watered down, tequila drink was good.

So good I went twice!! I got the roasted pork with rice and beans with a rum drink. Felt fine after!! There is so dedicated kitchen area but the waiter said things that are not fried are okay to eat. Employees are super nice and will walk you through what does/doesn’t have gluten. My gluten-eating boyfriend got the PR Sampler and he said it was to die for

Absolutely delicious. Our server definitely had uncertainty about what did and did not have gluten. However, because the concept of the restaurant is food native to Puerto Rico, I knew there was very minimal chance of accidental exposure. That being said, I recommend going to the restaurant at a less popular time to ensure your server isn’t distracted by multiple tables. We got the sampler platter (with a few omissions) and fresh coconut water. Absolutely incredible and definitely a must visit!

Worth the wait and I did not get sick. My mom and I went on a Monday evening. There was a line of four people outside the door and a sign on the door that said wait to be seated. After we arrived, the line continued to form behind us and stretched all the way down the block. After 45 minutes, we and the two parties before us and the two parties behind us were seated. There is no menu. The owner came out and asked us for our order, I told her I had a gluten allergy and she told me what I could have. She said I could not have tostones or anything fried because of cross contamination. She said I could have rice and beans and roast pork or steak, but I asked if the steak had any soy sauce and she said it might so I went with the roast pork (so tender!) rice and beans and a big green coconut with a straw in it for my drink. The food came out fairly quickly and it was absolutely delicious and also quite affordable. If you want authentic, affordable Puerto Rican cuisine and don’t mind a long wait outside, this is the place to go. They seem short staffed and the two people working there were in a hurry, so be sure to explain twice to whoever takes your order that you are gluten free and explain what you cannot have. Worth it if you have the time!

I was a little nervous when explaining my celiacs disease but the server immediately knew I could have any of the fried items and recommended a grouper and avocado dish that was awesome! Didn’t get sick and they had tasty rum drinks too.

We came here to try traditional Puerto Rican food in one of the only highly rated gf places for that type of cuisine in findmeglutenfree. The initial waitress was very confused and didn’t know what gluten is, she thought that rice had gluten. Eventually we spoke to a new person who told us that the pernil is gluten free, and the cook made us a fresh batch of plantains to avoid cross contamination. Obviously it’s not a dedicated establishment and it seems your mileage may vary depending on which server you get.

The best meal I had visiting San Juan! They serve tranditonal Puerto Rican food and I had the skirt steak with rice and beans. I also had a passionfruit and rum cocktail- so good! The waitress was very knowledgeable and my companions enjoyed their meal as well.

Food was amazing!!! Hands down my favorite food I’ve had the whole trip. I went twice, first time Their fryer wasn’t working which was unfortunate so I couldn’t have plantains or mofongo but I had the fish and soup which was incredible. Went back the next day, fryer was up and running and I FINALLY got to have mofongo because they don’t cook gluten in the fryer. It was yuca mofongo and wow, with their homemade cilantro sauce...so tasty. Highly recommend
The staff here knows fairly well the needs of Celiac folk. Their menu offers rice and beans along with main dish meats that are gluten free. Traditional Puerto Rican food items. If anything is fried, be sure to check with the staff to see if it is fried in oil with breaded items. In either case, various options in their daily changing menu are gluten free.
