Tell them you have an allergy and the crew knows what to do. Good burger and fries!
Yes
employee asked if it was an allergy. the person making the lettuce wrapped burger changed gloves.
No
This location did not seem to understand allergies. Gloves were not changed. The usual attention for allergies as given by six other locations seemed disregarded. Meal seemed fine but hesitant to go again.
The person who helped me was knowledgeable about celiac. They served the burger in a paper basket.
The manager followed the making of my lettuce wraped burger from start to finish and made sure gloves were changed and that it didn't touch any potentially contaminated area. The bread toasting grill was separated from the burger grill area.
I didn't get glutened, and look forward to trying the fries, too, next time!

This may not be a fair review but I offer it just as a warning. I ate at the FG's in Warwick RI and I assume they are all the same when it comes to procedures. When asked about GF they said "yes, just safe fries in fryer and we wrap the burgers in lettuce". I knew since it was my first time it was a gamble but I toon the chance. The fries are delicious and so was the burger (lettuce wrap and all). When we were on our way home I felt it. Mild, but definitely there. Then I remember seeing my moms bun, it was grilled. Why I didn't realize this when I was eating I don't know. So, basically if this is their procedure, it's not safe for Celiac.

Dedicated fryer and very attentive to allergies. Lettuce wrapped burgers are great and they always change gloves in between.
The lettuce wrapped burgers are wonderful and the fryer is for fries only.

Excellent food. Bun-less burgers and fries are safe (dedicated GF fryer). Reliable and delicious. Staff is careful to avoid cross-contamination.

I appreciate that they always ask if my lettuce wrapped order is an allergy. Fries are the only thing in the fryer, so no worries about cross contamination.

I’ve gone three times in two months and it’s been great every time. I tell them “allergy warning, I have celiac’s”. I order mine on lettuce (they do a really great job at wrapping the burger in lettuce), with everything on it.
I then inform them that my spouse would like a normal bacon burger on a bun. The staff has always reassured me and I hear them tell each other “allergy!” while cooking. They’ve always put my burger in a different bag marked “***ALLERGY***” and there was a red sticker on the tin foil of my burger.
If you’ve never been to a Five Guys, they have a very limited menu of just burgers (bacon, cheese, or plain) in three sizes, French fries (plain or Cajun), and milkshakes.
The only gluten items on the menu are the buns and malt. The chocolate shakes do not automatically come malted, so there’s never been a worry for me there.
