When you tell the cashier you cannot have gluten/wheat, they ask if it's all allergy and then they yell it to the cooks so they're aware. They offer you a bowl or a lettuce wrap for your burger instead. They are careful with preparing the burger and I've never had an issue. The fries are safe as fries are the only thing five guys fries! Delicious.

Eat here at your own risk or watch them like a hawk. I was assured when I gave my order that all necessary precautions wd be made. I watch in horror as a worker pokes at the fillings in my wrap after she's slid & pounded her fists on the surface where all the unwrapped burgers are lined-up & where my gf lettuce wrap are sitting. Then, she grabs it & carefully wraps it. Yes, she had changed her gloves prior but... how many crumbs did she pick-up aft?! The only redeeming quality of this experience was the professional way in which the manager handled the situation. Fries were also over done & just warm.

I appreciate that they always ask if my lettuce wrapped order is an allergy. Fries are the only thing in the fryer, so no worries about cross contamination.

I’ve gone three times in two months and it’s been great every time. I tell them “allergy warning, I have celiac’s”. I order mine on lettuce (they do a really great job at wrapping the burger in lettuce), with everything on it.
I then inform them that my spouse would like a normal bacon burger on a bun. The staff has always reassured me and I hear them tell each other “allergy!” while cooking. They’ve always put my burger in a different bag marked “***ALLERGY***” and there was a red sticker on the tin foil of my burger.
If you’ve never been to a Five Guys, they have a very limited menu of just burgers (bacon, cheese, or plain) in three sizes, French fries (plain or Cajun), and milkshakes.
The only gluten items on the menu are the buns and malt. The chocolate shakes do not automatically come malted, so there’s never been a worry for me there.
