Bring your own bun or get lettuce wrapped. They let everyone handling food know that the bunless burger was for someone with an allergy. I asked her to bag it separately which she did. Only other thing I would ask next time is to bag the fries separately from the burgers with buns when sharing fries with gluten eaters. Great burger and fries. No problem with taking direction from people concerned with gluten.
I had always loved 5 guys before I was diagnosed with Celiac disease and probably still would. However, the cheese they put on their burgers is American and is not gf. I ordered this and had someone deliver it only too later realize that I forgot thow ask about the cheese. SO the low rating is partially MY fault but I did tell the girl who took my order that I needed it to be gf. She seemed to have no idea what I was talking about. That isn't really shocking considering that most off the population doesn't know about GF but being that they were listed on this site I thought maybe the staff had been trained. If they are someone had an off day, which left me hungry and sorry I had taken the chance. I gave 3 stars because either the fries are awesome.
They have been very careful lately about changing gloves and now know me when they see me since there is literally no where else to grab a quick bite to eat! When we ate there the cashier relayed allergy to the cook and we got 2 burger bowls and one fry and we feel good after!
They used to work really hard to keep cross-contamination to a minimum. They have stopped caring now. The last three times I have gone (yes I keep trying because I love their food stupid me, but not any more) I have watched them touch the buns and then touch the lettuce that I needed for my lettuce wrap. Twice I threw the food away. I should have thrown it away all three times.
Staff immediately yelled “GLUTEN ALLERGY!” to the kitchen when I ordered. Had a cheeseburger on a lettuce wrap & fries. I’ve never had a reaction to their fries — the staff changed their gloves and used a scooper for the fries, not their hands. And the only person who touched my burger did not handle any buns etc.
They always yell out “Allergy!” or “Gluten allergy!” when I order. Best option for safe, gluten free food at the Atlanta airport, in my opinion, and I travel through here a lot. They also have breakfast. Locations at the C and D Terminals.
The staff was super knowledgeable about celiac and I felt 100% safe fee eating at this location. One employee prepared my meal, used fresh lettuce that she brought out from the back and even made fresh fries. Great experience, highly recommend!
Staff does a great job with gluten free no matter how busy they are, and they do it with a smile which makes such a difference for me. I know it’s hard to accommodate us but they make me feel so normal! I usually get a burger bowl with whatever toppings, and fries. The fries are the only thing that go into the fryer and they use peanut oil.
While the young lady taking the order didn’t fully under gluten free, she did a great job telling the cooking staff. The cooks were extra careful and prepared my hamburger with a lettuce wrap.
They do a really great job with allergies here. They clean the entire work space before. I have eaten here several times and get the same treatment every time.
The staff rolled their eyes when I asked ONE of them (the one that was going to handle my order. At least you can see what’s going on back there to ensure your food doesn’t get contaminated. There was no one in line behind me either so I didn’t feel bad. I’m not sure how I’d feel about them preparing a bun less burger for me but at least the fries are safe.
Always depend on Five Guys...for safe, GF options. According to guidelines, fries never come in contact with bread/gluten. Rolls are toasted on separate grill.... advise them of gluten allergy and this location took great care,..thank you!!
So good! They are pretty knowledgeable for a chain!
I’ve been to MANY different five guys restaurants. This is the first time it’s made me sick - despite telling them it’s an allergy, I’m very sensitive, make sure you change gloves, etc. Food tasted great but my guts will be recovering for the next month. Go to the one in Eugene instead.
Fries, yumm! One person was new, but fetched the ingredients list for allergens. Another stepped in to confirm. He changed gloves before scooping up my fries. I thanked him and he felt good about it,too. 😊 Thank you Five Guys! And team.
If you love great fries with your burger, Five Guys is the place to go. They do not currently have a GF bun option but you can get your burger in a lettuce wrap or on a bed of lettuce as a bowl. They only cook russet fries in their fryer so there is no cross contamination from breaded products - and they serve huge portions. Let them know you have a gluten allergy when ordering and request special handling. I love their choose-your-options custom soft drink dispenser. Just a note for all Five Guys locations, they have free shelled peanuts in open containers and use peanut oil for their fries so if you have a peanut allergy, they are not a safe space for you.
This is one of the better five guys I've been to. The shift manager reminds employees to change gloves and not touch other orders until mine was completed. I never usually have a problem but another location closer to the strip gave me a lettuce wrap with bun crumbs all over it (they fixed it and were nice about it, but I had to explain CC to them). I usually order a burger with lettuce wrap and Cajun fries. Love that five guys is always available as a safe option when travelling
The staff was knowledgeable, restaurant was clean and they had great communication about my daughter’s celiac disease. We told them she had a Gluten allergy and she has eaten successfully here twice now!
