My experience here at The Green Door is always fantastic! The cafe is quaint & eclectic and the owner is always super warm and welcoming. Then there’s the 99% gluten free food options. My usual go to is the cauliflower chowder with side of fried tempeh. Today I had their BLT which is amazing also!
WOW! Had the breakfast sandwich with bacon and it tasted even better than it looked, and it looked great ;). The Almond Flour bun which is homemade was probably the best GF bun I have had! It was light and airy, but texture was a good kind of chewy that ripped like real bread or pizza, super impressed and overall delicious!!! Will be back! Please support this place!
We are a gluten/Celiac friendly cafe proud to offer the community healthy, fresh food made with love.
We offer dietary restrictive options including Paleo, Keto, Vegan and Vegetarian as well as fresh rotating baked goods, we use no refined sugars or oils and take great pride in providing the highest quality ingredients possible. In addition almost everything being made in house, we also cold press fresh juices daily, and feature locally made teas and organic, fair trade coffee.
We were surprised to find a 99% GF restaurant in a small town like Astoria. However, it is there. The menu is small but lots of different things to choose from. The food was amazing, and the owner friendly and professional. Great vibe in this small restaurant, and well worth the visit.
Wow! Incredible food and the friendliest owners. Kendall was absolutely amazing and very customer focused. From the initial greeting her kindness and friendliness made us feel welcome. She was knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating to our dietary needs. Walked in a stranger walked out as a friend.
This is one of the rare places where you feel taken care of as a celiac vs. like a hindrance. The menu is 95% gf and delicious. The owner is a fellow celiac and maybe one of the kindest humans I’ve ever met, genuinely interested in everyone who came into the cafe and incredibly understanding of the challenges that come with being celiac. Highly recommend - please support this amazing spot!
What a lovely find! Nestled in the very cute beach town of Astoria. Almost everything on the menu was gluten free! When I confirmed, the owner was so warm and welcoming and assured that it was a safe place to eat. I had the BLT with avocado and it came with chips. It was delicious! My non-celiac family ate there as well and they also enjoyed the food. As I left, I thanked the owner again and she replied, “it’s such an honor to be able to feed you.” I’m not kidding, I almost cried. It was such a wonderful experience. I didn’t get sick at all. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.
Super cute place! The lady at the counter actually had Celiac. So she knew everything about cross contamination. Everything on the menu is gluten free with the exception of the wraps (which are baked off site). I had a delicious egg sandwich on a heavenly almond flour roll (so light and fluffy!) and a chocolate chip cookie. Not only was the food amazing, the people working there were delightful and hospitable
I got the BLT + chicken and it was AMAZING. If I’m ever in Astoria again, I definitely would come back just for the sandwich. The almond flour bun was to die for as GF buns are often not to die for lol. Also got the chocolate chip cookie! The cafe is pretty small and intimate, not a true restaurant but really cute.
Very friendly. Had a nice breakfast sandwich on GF (almond) bread/biscuit. I have lots of sensitivities (gluten free, dairy free, nightshade free, low histamine) and I was able to have the sandwich and a brownie. They are clearly careful and willing to answer questions. But there is at least one menu item with gluten so ask questions and make your own judgement.
Went here when it was "100% gluten free" in Feb 2023, but I don't know where my review went.
This place was not dedicated back then and the employee lied to me saying it was when I asked. After having a whole conversation with her about being Celiac and enjoying a meal in-house, she then proceeds to tell me they use wheat tortillas in their wraps and are able to be titled a "gf" restaurant because the tortillas aren't made in house... needless to say I was glutened so do what you will with that information.
I don't appreciate being lied to for a buck.
The BLT and egg sandwich were fabulous. The almond flour muffins they make and use for those sandwiches are thin, kind of like a McMuffin. I’ve never had anything quite like it. The owner has Celiac, and assured us everything was safe. (The flour tortillas are kept in a totally separate area.)
Fabulous place, almost everything is gluten free and the owners are very careful about quality of ingredients, and about avoiding cross contamination. Great variety (the egg salad on a homemade almond roll is amazing) and there's topnotch sushi on Saturday nights. We come here often when we are in town. Owners are very friendly and accomodating, and there are also lots of paleo and vegan choices, along with a couple of meat options.
Such a cute little cafe with wonderful (nearly) all GF options. We chatted with Kendall, the owner and had a wonderful visit. There's only three or four little tables so the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. My husband and I each opted for the tacos. I went with vegetarian and he got the braised pork. We also got the sweet potato mash which was exactly as Kendall described it... A mix between sweet and savory. The meal was absolutely delicious! I told Kendall, the owner that I felt sad at the end because the meal was over and I had loved every minute of it. I also purchased one of the rules that she uses for sandwiches and absolutely loved everybody. Light and fluffy but with lots of flavor and just a tiny bit salty. Just perfect. I would go back here every day that I was in Astoria!
Wonderful, delish, and friendly! We had an excellent experience at the Green Door Cafe. Our food was tasty and the wife and husband team running this restaurant are fabulous! I can’t recommend this restaurant enough! Go try it for lunch! Everything is gluten free except for the Mediterranean chicken wrap. (This wrap is made in a separate part of the kitchen)
At a recent trip to Astoria, I enjoyed a Fat Head Bun (almond flour, filled with provolone cheese) at Green Door Cafe. The owner offered to heat it up, and it was absolutely heavenly this way. It was also quite filling, so I actually ate the last two bites an hour later, and it was still very good. Highly recommended! Everything on offer was gluten-free except for the wheat tortillas that are made off-site; they use them for wraps.
I spoke with the owner and had a lovely conversation. When I asked about most everything being gluten free, she told me what item was not, and when I went to ask about protocols she said she is celiac so understands! Only one item contains gluten (tortillas) and they are not made in-house, and are stored & prepared in a separate area. I felt safe and comfortable eating here, and enjoyed the breakfast sandwich + BLT I got! Will definitely visit again next time I’m in the area.
We found this cafe while spending the day in Astoria. It's great! We love that it is completely gluten-free so it's safe for my Celiac daughter to eat anything off of the menu. And everything tasted wonderful! We had the chowder, Greek salad and tacos. We even got a brownie to take home. We had great time talking w the owner, Kendall. She's super friendly and easy going. We will be coming back!
So thankful to have found this spot!! After a disappointing experience at a different local restaurant I stopped in at Green Door right as they were about to close for the day (out of most items) I explained that I have Celiac and just needed *something* safe to eat. The owner completely understood and they made me the BEST breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. I’ll definitely make stopping here a priority on future visits to Astoria. Everything on the menu looked delicious and their kitchen is dedicated GF!!
This place is amazing!!! Kendall was absolutely so welcoming and friendly! Had a wonderful BLTA, bulletproof coffee and cookie!! I will be back every time I am in town!
This place is such a find! 100% gluten free and most things are DF too. Had a BLAT sandwich on a house made almond biscuit and it was incredible. My husband who doesn’t have to eat GF had the tempeh Korean tacos and raves about how good they were. We also got the kale slaw - super fresh. If I lived in Astoria I would come here daily. Also, super nice owners.
