it was nice they said the chef can make pretty much anything gluten free on the menu. However it was so overpriced and my shrimp was cooked to death/ no flavor. I guess I should just be happy I didn’t get sick but I’d rather have spent the money on something that would have taste good and filled me up for that price.

Was happy to discover this gem in Mobile just off I-65 as we frequently travel through this area. They have a separate gluten-free menu which makes us really comfortable about what is safe to eat. The staff are very knowledgeable. I just wish there were more choices. If they would use GF flour in their recipes, it would open up so much more of the menu to people with Celiac disease. The chargrilled oysters and Royal Reds were excellent. My husband also enjoyed his blackened yellow fin tuna.

I was a little worried coming in here, but they have a GF menu and they actually mean GF. I had an amazing server who knew all the details of how various dishes were cooked and offered certain things not on the GF menu so they were not made in the fryer or were made in a pan rather than the grill top. (The grilled shrimp for example are typically grilled on the contaminated grill top, but they can instead make it in a stainless steel and cleaned pan. The potatoes on the regular menu can be finished off by sauté rather than deep fryer.) When another server brought my oysters out with bread on the plate, she scooped it up and had the kitchen make a new plate. She even brought me gloves so I could peel my shrimp without having to run to the bathroom to wash my hands. The table is covered in fresh paper, so I wasn’t worried about getting gluten on my hands. My meal was amazing! I would definitely come here again if I’m in the area. Just be sure to talk to your server (or even the manager if your server isn’t aware.)

Excellent food and knowledgeable staff. Be sure to let your server know if you require gluten free for medical reasons.

Just tried this restaurant. Ask for their separate gluten free menu. Waitress sufficiently knowledgeable. I had the Royal Red shrimp, salad, broccoli. Delicious. I will return. Just wish their sweet potato dish was gluten free.

If you are ever in Mobile, Alabama, I highly recommend Half Shell Oyster House. They have a decent gf menu and knowledgeable wait and kitchen staff that really worked with us (I am Celiac and my son has severe egg and nut allergies, so we're high maintenance.) I'm usually too scared to eat out, but I'd been on the road all day and was starving. The food was amazing and I had NO problems at all!!

Good fresh seafood. My waiter was not aware that they had a gluten free menu, but the manager brought me one. I had local ruby red shrimp (steamed) and asparagus. I had no gluten reaction and the shrimp were quite good. This isn't your typical "everything fried" seafood shack, so there seemed to be a decent selection with less risk of cross contamination.
The restaurant has a separate and limited gluten-free menu. The food was good, however. I am not sure about the possibility of cross-contamination.

Nice little place. Service was good and helpful. Not many GF options. I had oysters on the half shell and boiled royal red shrimp. They both were just ok. Not as tasty as I was hoping

There are not a lot of choices for gluten free. I got the Royal Reds shrimp and I swear they were the best shrimp I've EVER had. I was thrilled.
