Wow. The service was amazing. The manager offered to get the items for my order out of the prepped boxes in the back so I didn't have to go through the buffet line (a cc nightmare). He even oversaw the cleaning of the grill after telling the cooks it was an allergy order (I watched) and personally delivered the food. He also instructed and made sure they kept the orders separate and used clean utensils. I am celiac and had no reaction.

Amazing service, when I walked in I asked a few questions and they were able to adequately answer them all and more. They have an allergen chart upon request which covers most bases but if you have any further questions they we're very informative and helpful.
Yes
HuHot does not have a gluten free menu but does have an allergen list and a list of gluten free sauces. Ask them to clean a spot on the grill and use different utensils, if necessary.
I have a severe gluten allergy and the staff went above and beyond at the Topeka location to take care of me. The food was delicious.
Yes
they were carefull about prep of the grill.... a bit scary but no reaction
Fantastic place to eat with a gluten allergy. The staff is well informed. Tons of food to choose from. And they clean the grill, create a barrier to stop cross contamination, and use clean utensils. I highly recommend this place.
Awesome service and very careful with cleaning the grill for my gluten free food
Staff very aware of safety measures to take with celiac and other allergies. A special "allergy bowl" is given to pick ingredients. The grill staff clean the grill with steel wool and use dedicated utensils to prevent cross contact. The main concern would be possible cross contact in the buffet of ingredients and sauces.

Don’t go to this location. I’ve been to other HuHot locations and they’ve been great. This one does not take allergy concerns seriously. I asked for a gluten free-specific bowl. It was the same as all the others. Also, small nitpick — they don’t allow rice on the grill, which means the only option is pad thai noodles.

5-7 years ago, my husband and I used to eat here all the time, and back then I would've recommended HuHot highly - it was my go-to GF restaurant. The staff was knowledgeable (and very friendly) and took great pains to avoid cross-contamination, GF items were clearly marked, and the quality of the food was good.
Due to Covid, we stopped eating out for a long while, and recently went back to HuHot for the first time in a couple years. When going through the line, I noticed that the icons on the sauces had changed - rather than being marked "GF," they just said "G." Since I have celiac disease and really cannot have gluten, I asked the staff (two of them standing together) if "G" indicated the item was gluten-free, or if it indicated that the item contained gluten. Their response: "Uhhhhh......I think it means gluten-free?" Not at all reassured, I moved on, and my husband, who was behind me, heard one of them say to the other, "Or, wait, maybe it DOES mean that it has gluten? Who knows." SERIOUSLY?!? He warned me about what he'd overheard, so to be safe I just didn't get any of the sauces at all, leaving me with a plate of plain veggies.
To top it off, a few bites into my already underwhelming meal, I found that several udon noodles had wound up in my food, even though they had prepared it following their allergy protocol (isolating it from the other food on the cooking block with spatulas, and using a different set of cooking utensils), so I was unable to even eat my meal. By that point, I had zero confidence left about any of their food, so I didn't bother going back to try again with a new plate.
All in all, this restaurant has changed from one I would recommend highly to one that I would avoid at all costs, and would warn all other people with celiac to do the same.

Very impressed. I figured out the menu of options and the cook spent 5 minutes prepping a spot on the grill that he cleaned 3 times to make sure there was no cross.. he used clean utensils and a clean plate to keep them from touching anything. It was a huge relief and was really appreciated.

They took good care to scrub the grill, but with the same brush they use to clean the surfaces. They have gluten free sauces, but I could visibly see where other sauces contaminated them. So I essentially just ate plain veggies and noodles because I was too afraid to use one of the sauces due to the cross contamination.
Would not recommend this place if you have celiac
