I called the customer service number and spoke with a representative who was very helpful. I asked if the fries are gluten-free and was told that only potatoes are placed in the fryer. He added that they use sunflower oil and put me on hold to check if sunflower oil contains gluten. He said it doesn’t. Very sweet! I then asked if the meat is prepared on a dedicated gluten-free grill and was told that nothing else but the meat is prepared on the grill. The bread is toasted on a separate toaster, not on the grill. The representative suggested I let the restaurant staff know I need gluten-free and they will take precautions, such as change their gloves before handling my order. When I placed my order at the Santa Maria location, the woman at the register informed her manager, entered the restriction in the register with my order, and verbally announced gluten-free to the cooks. Then someone brought the food to the table, identified which fries were specially handled, and stated that he changed gloves when serving these fries. I was accompanied by a child with a milk allergy and my boyfriend who is a vegetarian. We had several needs and the restaurant was very accommodating. I will definitely go there again!

My celiac son loves In n Out. We have eaten at numerous In and Out establishments during our travels and have always had very receptive and knowledgable employees when we say our order has a wheat allergy/celiac. However, we stopped at the Sta Maria In n Out today and I told the cashier we needed to have the wheat allergy protocol followed. When I got my receipt I noticed the wheat allergy was NOT noted. When my order arrived, I asked to clarify that it was made on a seperate grill. At that time thw cashier apologized and the manager told me he cooked them himself but that there were also buns on the grill. He said it was not possible to grill them on a designated grill. I was disappointed that this wasnt disclosed to me prior to putting my order through, as I ended up with meat patties my child couldn't eat.

Great for Celiac! Let them know it’s a “gluten allergy” when ordering. My sons fav is Double Double “Protein Style” with an Animal Fry. Eaten there MANY times & he’s NEVER gotten sick. Yum Yum!😋

Order "protein style" to get it wrapped in lettuce
I eat at this location frequently and the staff is always knowledgeable and accommodating. Order an "allergen burger" to have protein-style burger prepared with clean grill, utensils, and gloves. Fries are amazing!
No GF bun but lettice wrapped is just fine. So happy to eat fries.
Yes
just ask them to hit the allergy button and all food will be prepared and bagged separately

Lettuce wrap burgers are incredibly delicious!
🌾🚫 Gluten Free Items: Protein style (wrapped in lettuce) cheeseburgers and double doubles. Fries and shakes are also gluten free!
✴ Prior to ordering, let them know you have a gluten free order. I usually tell them
“gluten allergy” and they put an allergy alert on the order as well as a verbal notification to the back. If you don’t mention “allergy” you’re subject to cross contamination.
They will cook the patty on a new and/or cleaned surface to avoid cross contamination. When any gluten free or other allergy order is made, they will note it on your order and also verbally tell the kitchen.
🐶 In-N-Out locations have outdoor seating that are dog friendly. Unsalted and plain “Pup Patties” are available for $1.05 each!

I’m so happy that I’ve been able to safely eat at 2 In & Outs since being diagnosed. They clearly noted gluten allergy on the receipt and my food-was on a separate tray. I’ve gotten the same thing for years- hamburger, protein style, mustard grilled, grilled onions, no spread, extra veggies - and a fries. I tried doing a double double before and it’s too messy- if I’m that hungry I order 2! I wasn’t sure about the ketchup so I just asked for mustard packets for my fries.

spoke with manager who assured me they follow precautions, including glove change, separate prep, different spatulas etc but still got glutened.
unfortunately it’s probably impossible to safely eat at in n out consistently despite their attempts at managing CC

Found In-and-out during our trip through California and Nevada. As their protein-style burgers and fries are a no-brainer for gf meals, we went there more than once.
