I have eaten here several times and I have never had a gluten exposure.
As far as I know and what has been explained to me is allergy burgers are made on a separate grill, usually not in use and clean. I watch them like a hawk when I order food because I’m usually ordering with non-allergy burgers and this has always been my experience.
I am really sensitive and this is one of the few places I feel safe dining at.
Dedicated fryer for gluten free fries is a nice added bonus.

2/17/19: Found out today by the assistant manager that there is no separate pan/tray that they cook the meat inside on top of the grill - they have a separate/clean prep area to assemble the lettuce wrapped burger. So the information that somebody gave us 4 months ago was not accurate. They try to use the second grill which isn’t used very often and clean it off extra for allergy burgers (and I believe there is a side of the grill that doesn’t have any buns on it). That being said, we’ve never gotten sick eating here and we’re super sensitive.
October ‘18 - they actually now have a special pan/tray to cook the burgers in on top of the grill to avoid cross contamination. They have it at the Topsy location and in Sparks. Haven’t been to the s. Virginia location in a while so don’t know. Super happy about this!
Fast and delicious! Dedicated fryer for fries! We always ask for the manager and explain our allergies so they follow their allergen protocol and get it right. Make sure your allergies appear on the receipt too. They do not have gluten free buns but they do protein style (lettuce wrap). We've never gotten sick and we're super-sensitive. We've been eating here gf for about 8 years.

The cashier stated they would change gloves and clean the grill for my order. I watched the cook make it and she would handle buns and then grab uncooked fries with the same gloves and put them in the fryer. She also handled the buns and then my burger. When I was handed my meal, I asked if she changed her gloves and she lied to me and told me she did.

Order "protein style" to get it wrapped in lettuce
5/24 It’s still busy, it’s still clean, and it’s still safe. This place is always busy, but it’s clean and it’s safe.

Tell them you are gluten free and they will note it in the order. Get burgers “protein style” for a lettuce wrap instead of buns. Fries are 100% safe! Never had any issues here, just don’t forget to tell them you have a gluten allergy so they take the necessary precautions for CC

I had heard it would be safe and I was not disappointed. Dedicated fryer for fries. Burger served protein style (lettuce wrapped) and on separate tray from rest of non GF order. Employee verified gluten allergy on fries and burger order. Symptom free and first fries in 4 months!

HUGE shout out to the staff at this establishment today. This was my first dine out experience at fast food since being diagnosed with lupus and celiacs. The young lady at the register quadruple checked my order and also verified with the manager and working staff about it coming through. Then once my order came up the manager stood at the counter until it was picked up telling everyone to keep my order seperate from my son and husbands (non gluten free) order. I felt so incredibly safe and can’t say enough how much that meant to me today. Thank you
