Best fast food chain allergy protocol!! Order "Protein Style" burger (lettuce wrap) or "Flying Dutchman" (no bun/wrap) & let them know you have a gluten/dairy/ etc allergy! They'll take care of the rest: glove change, separate grill, work station, supplies. Fries are also GF. If you order within a group, they bag the allergy order separately than the rest. But you definitely have to say "allergy" ordering it lettuce wrap is not enough to let them know.
I have been here many time, staff are very knowledgeable. I get the double-double with ketchup instead of spread (since the spread has cross-contamination) and fries. You can get spread packets separately which have no cross-contamination. Never got sick, strongly recommend for celiacs.
Order "protein style" to get it wrapped in lettuce
The cashier let me know that, as a Celiac, I could safely have the protein-style burger. She wasn’t able to describe the CC measures that marking the order as “allergen” would trigger, though. She asked the kitchen manager, who just described glove changing.
As In n Out is well known for being careful with their GF customers, I felt confident ordering.
My order was served in a separate basket from my partner’s burger with bun. Didn’t even think to ask for that precaution. Good call, In n Out!
