I pretty much never get to eat fries due to cross contamination, but in-n-out doesn't even offer breaded items. Protein style is the no bread, special diet option, but let them known you are celiac because most people just order it to reduce calories. They will prepare protein style separate from the regular burger.
Order "protein style" to get it wrapped in lettuce
Got a burger Protein Style and regular fries. I explained that I couldnt have any bread touch my food, not even a crumb and they said they would cook it all on a different area away from the rest of the food. I could kind of see what was going on in the back and it looked like there was only one guy who touched my food. When he was done making my burger and needed to get my fries, he didnt even set my tray down with the other burgers, he held it the whole time to make sure it didnt touch any other food. I was a little sad that I couldnt get my favorite item on the menu, animal style fries (the onions touch buns) but everything was still super delicious!
This location can get busy and I sometimes wonder how careful they are. My double-double protein style with spread passed Nima sensor and no problems.Love the gluten free protocol all locations seem very careful, even if you use the drive thru and slow everything down.
This location seems a little more careful. Order double-double with onions protein style with spread. No problems ever and Nima sensor passed!
We eat here every time we pass through Lancaster - two or three times a month. We have yet to get sick here and have only ever gotten sick once at an In-N-Out, which is impressive since it’s the only place my DH trusts when traveling. We feel so comfortable in their assembly line set up that we don’t feel the need go into the celiac spiel at time of ordering. DH gets the Flying Dutchman (two patties with cheese in the middle). Their website lists the allergen website for their other products. Well worth it for the peace of mind.
Since five is the fold standard where almost everything can be made gluten free, im giving in n out a 4. They do not have a gluten free bun. But their fries are awesome...and so are the protein style burgers. Great place for gf...but they need to get a gf bun.
I used to get sick here. But now I know you can specify if you have an allergy. Which I do now, and not get sick. I get the lettuce wrap and fries. I do however take the extra, extra precaution, of not having grilled onions just in case., & I always get spread from the packets rather then them putting it on. I don’t get sick at all this way.
Asked for a cheeseburger protein style for an allergy and they immediately asked "gluten allergy?". They yelled it out and put it on the ticket. I got the animal style fries too. Everything was so yummy and I didn't feel sick despite it being extremely indulgent food. Would love to have this place back in Canada.
I go here all the time. I think the biggest thing is to make sure the staff knows you have a gluten allergy. Otherwise, there's a pretty high risk of CC. I recently had a friend pick up some food for us, and ordered the protein style burger, like I always do. And I got sick for the first time. Later, I found out that they don't take as many precautions against CC unless you specifically state that you have a gluten allergy. So make sure to tell them, and make sure it's marked on the ticket. When I do that, I've never had a problem here.
I looked online and found out the best way to order GF is to ask for your Burger “protein style” (lettuce wrap) but make sure it’s “due to a gluten allergy.” Their fries are the only thing that go in the fryer. It was good at the time. Felt iffy later. I’m super sensitive so if you’re just gluten intolerant, give it a go!
Yummy burgers and fries and shakes. Be careful because there is another in n out location in Vegas with bad reviews. This location takes things seriously. Separate grill. Person doing fries just does fries and nothing else is fried there. Let them know gluten allergy.
Never had a problem! Just say gluten allergy and get it protein style! Fries are so good
Remember to tell the person who takes your order that they need to add a gluten allergy to every item that you order. The only thing with gluten here is the buns. They just need to keep your food separate. Order fries, they’re gf!
Dedicated fryer for fries (as with all locations). Make sure you stress “gluten allergy” when ordering your protein style burger. Ordered as usual. Protein style flagged for a gluten allergy. Gluten allergy was not listed on the receipt so I had to park and go in. Spoke to the manager and he was awesome and knowledgeable and said he would talk to his employee about the importance of flagging when asked. He made it right, but my fear is that my kids go there often and that this may be a mistake that’s made more than we know. Please make sure you stress “gluten allergy” and check your receipts!
I have been here many time, staff are very knowledgeable. I get the double-double with ketchup instead of spread (since the spread has cross-contamination) and fries. You can get spread packets separately which have no cross-contamination. Never got sick, strongly recommend for celiacs.
This place is celiac friendly is because Long as you tell them you have an allergy it safe to eat :)
This is one of the better in and outs in town. They’re really good about cross contamination and make sure they keep everything separated.
You can get the burger on lettuce. This was the most depressing thing I’ve eaten in years. No flavor, slimy, made me feel like my intolerance leaves me a shell of a woman. Go to Culver’s if you want a gf burger on a gf bun. At least it has substance there.
Never been sick here. I order a burger protein style and cheese fries (I stopped ordering animal fries because I heard their sautéd onions and spread that isn’t is packets could be contaminated with gluten). All you need to do is tell the staff you have celiac or a gluten allergy and they will change their gloves and let the staff know.
This is a busy location but they take allergy concerns seriously. Let the cashier know you an allergy order and they prepare your order separately and change gloves and mark it clearly on the receipt. I've eaten here twice since my celiac diagnosis and have not had a reaction. Everything on the menu except the buns are GF, so order your burger protein-style (lettuce-wrapped), but I would recommend ordering without onions and with sauce on the side (they'll give you packets of the special sauce) just to avoid cross-contamination because onions are flipped with buns and sauce could come from a shared container). I love ordering cheesy fries via the secret menu! Fries are from a dedicated fryer.
My celiac daughter and I have been safe eating here BUT we learned that the sauce (even on allergy burgers) can be used from the same container. Now we order ours protein style allergy to gluten NO sauce and ask for sauce packets at pick up. We have not been sick from cross contamination since.
Recently celiac diagnosed this is my go to when I need to go out to eat! Protein style burger be sure to tell them you have a gluten allergy and they change gloves and clean surfaces. And fries are safe because they are the only thing they cook in there.
I eat here often and I have never had an issue. I always tell them gluten allergy. That's all I have to say and they will take care of it. They even bag mine separate from the rest of my family's without me requesting it.
Service here was terrible. I have never seen an in n out so crazy slow with a line, even on a weekend. There were only 15 cars, which isnt that much for night time at in n outside. However, it took over 30 min to get to the window to get our food. Worse, when we get there they ask us to pull forward and wait for our order. I refused. Told them i had been waiting in line over 30 min since I ordered and it should be ready when all they have to do is wrap it in lettuce. Manager came and confessed they had messed up the order somehow. Very frustrating. It's not that hard to do, and it wasnt that busy (empty inside). Food tasted meh too once it finally came. This manager definitely needs help with her cooks.
Went for a late night snack, after seeing the good reviews. Was a little nervous as I saw the burgers and regular buns on the same flat top. I was assured that they take 'allergies' seriously and clean the grill, use new utensils, and change gloves. Sad there was no gf bun but the fries are also gf so thats a bonus.
Have eaten here several times over past year. Order “protein style” which is without bun. I use ketchup packets to avoid common dispenser. I take my own gf udi bun. Fries are cut fresh on premises and fried in dedicated fryer (no breaded items fried in them). Have had no issues. Staff friendly, well trained and hard working.
stopped here on a xmas road trip - asked for burger and asked them to mark it for “allergy” - the cashier yelled it back to the crew and one of the crew looked back and rolled her eyes and the cashier laughed. I didn’t feel safe and felt sick for the rest of my trip - could’ve been other places though.
They are amazing about CC; haven’t gotten sick here before!! Thank goodness. Order the burger “protein style” and the animal fries with OUT grilled onions as they could CC you.
