The food is tastey, however not Celiac safe. I am Celiac and watched them make my food. They placed the allergen cutting board right under the toaster where there is high cross contamination. I asked them to please move the cutting board out from under the toaster and the manager said she had no where else to prepare the food. I asked her to move it down the line so it was not under the toaster and she got frustrated. This location on L street does not have a good understanding of preparing gluten free sandwhiches.
I'm not celiac but still have to eat gluten free. I ordered the Reuben with the Udi's bread. My sandwich came wrapped in a box with allergy info on top which was a first for me but thought it was a nice touch. The meat and sauce was really good but the bread wasn't dense enough and fell apart when I tried to pick it up. I finished it with a fork! But good flavors!
Definitely would recommend. They offer options galore. It was nice to have someone who was capable of catering to my specific needs. They also have a way of not cross contaminating the sandwiches in their ovens. They are huge BTW so if you have a small stomach like I do. I would recommend half or a Salad or soup. I am definitely coming back again!
staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. several menu options for gf
Staff super friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of menu choices!
They have a dedicated GF menu with many choices. The food is always good. I like the chicken salad sandwich and the nutty salad. Yum!
They have a whole separate Gluten Free menu. Pick which meat, cheese, toppings you want and there you have it on your gluten free bread. They offer soup on the menu as well. Good stuff!!!
They have very good gluten free bread. When I told them I have celiac they made sure they got new gloves, and the manager assured me they use the beat precautions!!!! They also deliver to my work!
They have a dedicated GF menu which includes chicken tenders (which I never get to have, so it’s a treat) and have always been EXTREMELY careful about my diet
I go here quite often to enjoy the gluten subbed bread on many of their signature sandwich’s. Most of them can be subbed out. As for sides, it’s mostly pre bagged chips or the salad bar (which i tend to steer clear of since there are items such as croutons and such). But i’ve never got sick from them. Usually the staff is very accommodating!
They have a good gluten free menu from which I was eager to order. However, I wanted to change out the dressing that came with the meal for a different dressing. One of the employees offered to help me ensure they the dressings I was considering were gluten free. She took me into the office and looked up the ingredients for the dressings in question. Both were gluten free, so I had some of each without any ill effects.
We have eaten here for years, and sometimes it was once/week. Cross contamination is always a concern in a deli, but we have appreciated the service and attention of this particular location. The member of our family who is super sensitive has had kids Jane, grilled cheese, and grilled cheese with tomato soup.
I've been to several Jason's Deli locations and feel comfortable eating at them. The person at the counter gave me a GF menu (you have to ask for one,) and I let her know it was for a gluten allergy (I have Celiac, but find most people don't know what that means.) I ordered a baked potato and it was delicious.
