Lots of options which is unusual for Chinese. I got the orange chicken and shared a few bites of the teriyaki chicken. Orange chicken was better than teriyaki (I’d say teriyaki was pretty mediocre). Orange chicken had a breading on it but it left me wanting. I wish it would have been thicker and smaller pieces. I probably wont come back (I’m not from here) because I’m so rarely in the area I’ll most likely explore other places.
I went here with high hopes based on the other reviews, but when I asked about the cross contamination piece they said they cook many of the food in the same pan with the same oil that is used for some dishes that are made with flour. I appreciated that the server was honest and steered me toward options like the soup, salad, and the moo goo gai pan, which I had with shrimp. It was good, but not want I wanted to order. I decided to be safe since I am traveling and tend to be sensitive, but I was disappointed that my options ended up being limited.
Ordered the sweet and sour chicken and tangerine chicken - they were very similar to each other but both pretty good! The vegetable fried rice had a bit of a weird taste to it. Also worth noting that the hot and sour soup at this location is not gluten free even though at the other location it is marked as GF on their menu. This location doesn’t have a GF menu online so you kind of have to compare the pictures from the other locations reviews with the menu if you’re ordering online. But if something you pick isn’t GF, they will call you.
Absolutely delicious Chinese food that didn’t give me any sort of reaction. I am extremely sensitive to gluten and can normally tell within an hour if I’ve been glutened. Staff was incredibly knowledgeable and made sure to let me know that it was all gluten free when they dropped off the food. The general tsaos chicken, the tangerine chicken, and the mango chicken are definitely highlights. The fried rice wasn’t particularly special but definitely good!
Been going here for decades and I've been here about 7 times since finding out I have Celiac disease. It's sooo good! My favorite right now is the Tangerine Chicken, but the General T'sao and Walnut Shrimp have been my favorites before. (Some menu items can be made gluten free that aren't marked, I just wouldn't recommend asking for that during a dinner rush.) The Egg Drop soup, Peking ribs, Cashew veggies, and curry is great too.
They have made mistakes once or twice with putting a wanton/egg roll on my plate, which is another reason why I recommend coming for lunch (slower relaxed crowd, options on the plates are easier to catch*, and the portions just seem better for the price). But the servers are all really nice and willing to remake it for me. I have never had a problem with reactions/feeling sick eating here. We had a catering event with them earlier this year and they were very helpful with planning out a menu that would be safe for Celiac, dairy-free, and have a yummy vegan option. The 4 of us that needed gluten free and the other 5 that needed dairy free were very happy!
They have completely separate fryers for GF stuff, and I think the kitchen space is separated but I would have to ask again. I think the mix ups can happen on the way out to the tables when finishing combo dishes.
Note that the GF soy sauce they use and bring out is San-J brand and it could be better (I just prefer Kikkoman Temari). *Wantons, Fried Prawn, and Egg rolls are offered as part of the dinner combination style and classic family dinner style (under Styles of Ordering on the menu) and are more likely to be added to your plate without a second thought. Lunch menu offers a choice between them, so they are more likely to see the note that says none/GF.
I got so sick from this location. I didn’t even order anything that gets deep fried just to be careful…. I wouldn’t recommend this place and won’t be back :(
They were great. Food was delicious! Everything was clearly marked, but I was told they could easily make most items GF if I wanted something that wasn't marked (I didn't ask for a GF menu). Great service and fast food arrival. Loved it so much I ordered to go the next day for lunch and also had no reaction. Battered Chicken that is GF. Yes!!!
Many gluten free menu items. The items are clearly marked and the entire staff is knowledgeable. Visited for lunch and dinner. Food is always served fresh and hot. Never imagined this food would be available for a celiac. Best Chinese food in the area!
Safe for Celiacs! Menu is labeled gluten free! So tasty! The first time I have been able to have General Taos Chicken in years! Had a crunch in the outside, moist and tender on the inside! Thanks to Brian for taking care of us! It was absolutely wonderful! Yes, I shed a happy tear or two it was that good! We will be back!
I told the server I had celiac disease, and they just nodded and took my order. I was nervous because they didn’t talk to me about the protocols, but based on my celiac friend’s recommendation and the reviews here, I didn’t worry. I figured they knew what they were doing. And they did! Everything was delicious and absolutely fine. The server reiterated that my meal was gluten free when they brought it out. I think they know what’s up with celiac disease.
This is my husband's go to and has been a favorite of ours since long before he was diagnosed with celiac! We love ordering family style and sharing a few dishes among the two of us or us and our kids. The owner knows my husband by name and knows his order and that it is gluten free. Great service and great food!
We are here recently with a large party that included a handful of celiac. They were great about helping everyone order and reminding us what was and wasn't gluten free when they brought our food out so we could share all of the dishes.
Another reviewer in July 2021 said they did not have dedicated fryer. I was there today and asked the same question and they said they do have a dedicated fryer but it is right next to the regular fryer. They cannot guarantee something didn't fall in it. That is different than not having a dedicated fryer. The server recommended a stir fry dish to be safe. Their ham fried rice uses tamari GF and their teriyaki sauce is gluten free. They seem very aware but are careful not to over promise. My food was good and it has been a long time since I've had fried rice.
Had the Teriyaki Chicken (obviously GF sauce is used) for their lunch special! They have GF soups listed for the side, and they swap the egg roll/cheese wantons for extra ham fried rice if you tell them you’re GF. The teriyaki sauce was a bit watered down so the taste wasn’t as strong, but overall it was good and the GF options were nice.
One of my kids has Celiac, another has a soy allergy, and there were options for each of them. I asked if the fryer is a shared fryer since so many of the menu items designated GF were battered, and our server told us gluten particulates in a shared fryer aren't harmful to someone with Celiac. We obviously passed on the fried stuff for the Celiac kid, and he and the soy-free kid and I all had moo goo chicken. The manager on duty or owner, not sure who he was, stopped by our table to let us know what kind of soy sauce was used in the fried rice and assured us it was GF, and also gave the kids DumDums instead of fortune cookies. All in all it wasn't bad, but the overconfidence in the fryer situation gives us pause about their knowledge of cross contamination. Our third kid, no food restrictions, had the battered salmon (which was fried right with his gluten wontons) and he absolutely loved his meal. Husband has no food restrictions and got the General Tsoa's chicken and says he was very happy with it.
Favorite Chinese place! Most things are naturally gluten free, the owners are great, and they are very knowledgeable. The price can’t be beat either!
Food is amazing, this has been one of my favorite restraunts, but I had a reaction after eating there today. I'm so sad. I will make a bigger deal about how careful they need to be next time. Hopefully it won't happen again.
