An absolute gem of a restaurant! Almost everything on the menu is gluten free, the margaritas are delicious, and the warm tortilla chips were the best. The food and drink menus are all labeled. Make sure to tell your server that you have an allergy. The owner even came over to talk with us and check in on us.
We love coming here! The chips are gluten free, and nearly everything on the menu is gluten free. We always note for allergies and the servers are knowledgeable about celiac & cross contamination. Being raised in Southern California, it can be hard to find acceptable Mexican food but this place does the job well. The service is friendly, attentive and prompt. Adult drinks are well balanced- the margaritas are strong!
Tell the staff of your allergy so they are aware but the kitchen has different cooking surface for corn tortillas. They will pan fry anything. GF fryer. Paloma margarita and carne asada are my go to’s. Everything gf marked on menu. I am extremely reactive and have been here over 100 times and never have been cross contaminated. I stay away from mushrooms as I don’t know their growing substrate.
The person serving our food did not seem particularly knowledgeable and also seemed a little irritated by questions, so I didn't ask as many questions as I might have. The menu had gluten free items marked, but there was a discrepancy on the menu about whether the chile rellenos were gluten free. However, I was told they were gluten free. They are a type of relleno that is unbreaded and not fried, so the risk of cross contamination should be relatively low. I ordered a mushroom enchilada and cheese chile relleno via the combo plate, which included beans and rice. I also had chips (which I was told are cooked in a frier used only for chips) and salsa. I did not have any readily apparent reaction.
I have celiac - love this restaurant! Food is delicious! Margs are strong! The meals and margaritas that are GF are labeled on the menu. Tons of options! I get the Pollo con Crema dinner meal each time and have never had a reaction! I do not eat the chips that come with the chips and salsa - they are fried and I’m not sure if they have cross contamination with other fried items. So I stay clear just to be super safe.
DEFINITELY make sure to tell your server of your gluten allergy. I have had no problems with cross contamination there HOWEVER they do put beer in their margaritas, something my server neglected to tell me until after i had one, despite the fact that i specified my allergy at the beginning of the evening. Apparently only one of their margaritas is actually gluten free, so be careful!! Three stars because they did give me gluten, however it was NOT the kitchen’s fault.
Best Mexican Restaurant in Fort Collins! So many delicious gluten free options. Everything was fresh and delicious. We had to finish our plates because it was so good. And for all you young ladies out there, we had a really funny, good-looking waiter.
Lots of gf options for food but always make sure to tell your server about your celiac or sensitivity. Be aware that all the margaritas have gluten in them except for one. You have to get the pricier fresh made one because any that have their pre-made mix have gluten (they put beer in the mix).
I would give this a higher rating for taste, but I became incredibly sick after eating here. I have celiac disease and was very excited that most items are marked GF on their menu.
I should know better and ask questions about their preparation, and definitely paid the price.
The whole menu is marked if GF, my favorite is the beef fajitas and the off-menu Caballero Margarita! Staff is so friendly!
Had a happy hour margarita- $4 and potent! :). I had the shrimp diablo since the previous reviewer said it was good, and it was! It surprisingly was not spicy at all, but more sweet, I would have preferred it to be spicy so I added a lot if salsa to it. Their salsa bar is awesome, they have like 6 different salsas or more and I tried them all, they were really good and tasted fresh, good flavor, just the right amount if spice. My shrimp was fresh and not fishy! I rarely get good fresh seafood at restaurants so I was very pleased.
just ok mexican food. they have a salsa bar and you must love cilantro to enjoy it because its in everything! i didn't like it.
