Excellent food very friendly and knowledgeable
Some of the best gluten free I’ve had, a must if in the area
Bartender was knowledgeable and great food and wine too boot. No reaction for me! Menu is clearly marked and the specials can be checked with the kitchen.
Absolutely amazing! Celiac safe GF champagne fish and chips were so delicious as were the GF cheese curds. The apple salad with grilled chicken was also scrumptious. Great atmosphere and lovely presentation. What a refreshing change of pace! Can't wait to return!
Lots of gluten free options and menu items that can be modified to gluten free.
I go the this restaurant at least twice a month!! They have so many unique gluten free options that are so hard to find anywhere else, such as the fish and chips- which are amazing- and cheese curds (these do not always appear on the menu due to the seasonal changes but just ask the waiter for them and they will make them for you). I have never had a bad experience here, the staff is awesome!!
Staff very knowledgeable and happy to serve gluten free patrons. I was super excited to have fish and chip!! Dedicated fryers yes I said fryers. More than one!!! I had beignets for desert. Omg you must go to this place!! I wish I lived close by but definitely an oasis for my travel day.
Louie’s is a great new addition to Liberty! Great wine selection, delicious food, knowledgeable staff, and a fun outdoor patio area. Their gluten free selections and ability to modify menu items to be gluten free is great too. The Squeaky Cheese is amazing—GF deep fried cheese, yes please! We also had the pleasure of meeting the proprietor and discussing wines we tried in our Sauvignon wine flight. Super cool place that will definitely be a new staple in our repertoire of dining/mommy’s night out choices!
I am celiac and ate here and the food was the best I've had during my time in Iowa. I didn't worry about getting "glutened" and was totally fine after eating with no reaction or even a rash so they were amazing handling celiac. I had rabbit with red beet risotto and my boyfriend and I couldn't get enough of the pecan brussels sprouts. Coming from Boston, I hadn't come across any restaurant in Iowa that could compare to some of the food from back home but Louie's Wine Dive topped the list for any restaurant I've ever eaten at. I would highly recommend and will definitely come again!
I liked it enough. I got the chips and guacamole which was great and beautifully plated. For main course I tried the fish and chips. I got 3 strips of fish with a tiny bed of fries in a small bowl. After all that and 2 glasses of wine I was still hungry. For $44 I want to be full. Seemed celiac friendly and the decor was hip.
This is our FAVORITE GF restaurant! All the dishes we have tried have been fantastic with the added bonus of a wide ranging wine selection. Street tacos, fish & chips, and Sinatra burger are all good choices...but you will not be disappointed with other menu items. Staff is wonderful!
This in my opinion is the best, safest restaurant in Des Moines. I also like when I have the option of getting an appetizer, meal, and dessert because having celiac your lucky to just get a gluten free meal. I love the calamari, fish and chips, tacos, poutine, and the flourless chocolate tart.
Clearly marked gluten free options on the menu and knowledgeable staff! Everything I've eaten here has been delicious (but not cheap). Edit: love this place! I have eaten their shrimp, calamari, fish and chips, tacos, deviled eggs, Brussels sprouts and have NEVER felt sick!
80% of the menu is Gluten Free or can be modified to be GF. cool wine bar, foodie atmosphere, descent prices, amazing wine selection and the food is over the top and super satisfyingly. They have a dedicated fryer. First time I had Calamari and Fish and chips (fries) in 5+ years. their tarter sauce is perfect. very friendly staff, very accommodating. Harry was our server, very attentive and knowledgeable. highly recommended to Celiacs and anyone else!
This place has several gf items on their menu and several others that they say can be modified to gf. Everything on the menu is fried with rice flour, so their fryer is safe. I had the fried calamari as an appetizer and it was delicious. Fish and chips were good too. Our waitress was knowledgeable and proactive. She knew not to give me malt vinegar for my fish and chips. I’ll definitely be back.
Lovely experience. The GF options on the menu are marked, and my waitress was knowledgeable - she let me know that when me entree was first ready, someone mistakenly put bread on it, so she had them redo the whole thing for me! The food was quite tasty as well!
Very pricy. Extremely loud. When I mentioned Celiac Disease, our waiter said, "Uh, that's a gluten thing, right?" The potion size was ridiculously small. And our waiter was more concerned with the table next to us who ordered multiple glasses of wine. He literally checked on them 4 times more often than us. I would not go here again.
The Fish and Chips are good. But the staff have no idea what they are doing. I asked for GF and Dairy free. Then asked for salad in exchange for the cream based item (which I paid extra for). It came out covered in bread crumbs and dairy based dressing. When I said this had Gluten and dairy - she looked at me like "well you should have said something." Well I did on the main course.
Gluten free fish and chips! First time in the 9+ years since my celiac diagnosis that I've been able to order that, and it was fantastic. I also got a side of patatas bravas (very tasty fried potatoes), which are not marked as gluten free on the menu, but they were able to make them in a dedicated fryer. I have dreams about those potatoes; they are one of the best things I've ever eaten!
