Pizza is amazing, but you will get glutened. Same oven used for all pizza, gluten crust included.

I’m surprised by all the positive pizza reviews. We were told all pizzas are cooked in the same oven on the same surface with obvious risk for cross contamination…

I did not grill them because their menu was so well labeled and they were highly knowledgeable. I had a GF pizza, meatballs, and shishito peppers and then the donuts (I forget the italian word) for dessert. All SO AMAZING. The service was fantastic. I have not gotten sick. I do not think they have separate space for gf, though, so those who are hyper sensitive want to ask more questions than I did.

So many options for gluten free, and I can't say enough about the pizza crust... best I've had in 20 years! I had the pizza crust appetizers, the pasta and potatoes which sounds odd but was so good, I almost licked the plate. And sorbet. Lots of vegan options too. Highly recommend if you're in the Berkeley area!

Wow! That was probably the best pizza I’ve had since getting diagnosed! They deep fried the dough in a separate fryer. It was to die for.

Great GF pizza! My non-GF husband said it was almost as good as the GF pizza we had in Naples. I was excited to see that many appetizers were GF (hurray for fried calamari) as were the desserts. Highly recommend

Best (GF) pizza I’ve had! We called beforehand about gluten free but were told this wasn’t really necessary as they can always accommodate. We were explained how they didn’t use wheat flower to lay out the gluten pizza’s so there wouldn’t be a risk of air borne cross contamination. They also said that there would be minimal risk of cross contamination, but were told they share an oven. The pizza itself was delicious, and even my non-gluten free boyfriend couldn’t tell the difference! I didn’t have any issues after. We would definitely recommend!

The most delicious GF pizza I’ve had since being in Italy! We also have a dairy allergy and they had vegan cheese. We also had the GF pasta and while the pasta was probably a box, the bolognese sauce was incredible! We ate here twice on our trip to Berkeley, had no issues and highly recommend!!

Since being diagnosed with Celiac, I almost never eat pizza in a restaurant that claims to have gluten free options due to the risks of cross-contamination. However, Lucia’s is a wonderful place that clearly labels the menu, has servers that are very knowledgeable, and made me feel safe. The best part is the food is amazing and they make a wonderful Negroni. This might be the best gluten free pizza I’ve had at a restaurant in years. I will definitely be back soon.

I visit every time I’m in Berkeley. Awesome food, but the biggest treat is GF pizza crust that is fluffy, light and closest to the *real deal* of any GF crust!! You won’t be disappointed! GF items marked in menu and waitstaff knowledgeable about Celiac and cross contamination. Also a lovely experience all around.

Eat there last night and loved the food. Many gluten free options and I couldn’t tell I was eating gluten free food. Their pizza is especially great because it has a fluffy dough that I didn’t know was possible without wheat. I have celiac and did not get sick and I had pasta and pizza. I highly recommend this Italian restaurant.

I was excited to see so many sides, appetizers, and salads that were gluten free. But the real win is to have a delicious pizza or calzone that's gluten free! Very tasty! We'll definitely return.

I love this place. I usually only go when I want to treat myself because it pains me to spend $26 on a personal pizza but it’s damn tasty. I didn’t like it the first time I went so I gave it another try. I’ve been back multiple times since.

They were at CaliCraft in Walnut Creek. Got a GF pizza for my celiac daughter. She had a reaction that night. Wonder if they mixed up the dough and didn’t make the order GF. Would not eat here again.

I used to eat here for years with no issue, but after one negative experience I have lost trust in their safety as well as their customer experience. I ordered a pizza for pick up, being very clear I had celiac, and was reassured about their safety. They typically have stickers on the pizza boxes that says “I am gluten free”, which was always an extra reassurance that I was receiving the correct order. However, the last time I ordered the pizza box did not have this. I called them and expressed my hesitation given my disease. Instead of ordering me a new pizza for safety, they just told me it was GF since that is what my order in their computer system showed. Again, no checking with the kitchen or offering to make a new pizza, just in case. I of course did not take the risk and eat the unmarked (expensive!) pizza.
I would take extreme caution when eating here. Sadly, I no longer patronize this establishment.

We love ordering takeout from here! Gluten free pizza does not make me (celiac) sick, and have eaten here dozens of times. My family enjoys the gf calamari but the fryer is shared, so not celiac safe. Have ordered other vegetable and salad dishes here without getting sick- just call to make sure they know why you need GF and they’ll take care of it or let you know what is safer. This pizza is the best since being diagnosed GF- they even have great tips on how to reheat their pizza so you get some crispy when eating later.

Casual restaurant with superb food!!! Great for either a big group or an intimate dinner. The GF dishes we tried (pastas and pizza) were super tasty and you would never tell the difference between full gluten pasta or pizza from the GF options. A foodie’s paradise!

I had a delicious, and safe meal here. I had read the reviews and was a little concerned. So, I ordered carefully - avoided the pizza completely, and ordered items that were made gf from the start - and it was fantastic. I had the French fries after confirming that the fryer was not contaminated, meat balls and a salad. It was all delicious. Of course, my gluten eating dinner companions raved over the pizza, but I wasn’t going to risk that since it all goes in the same oven, etc. With a little bit of caution, celiacs can be safe here.

I should’ve listened to the reviews and avoided, but the allure of gluten free calamari and pizza was too great. When I ordered, I let the server know I had celiac and that everything had to be gluten free, and she said she’d let the kitchen know. Alas, I didn’t get to enjoy the calamari since she came back to tell me that the gluten free calamari is fried in the same oil as everything else.
I also ordered the taglietelle alla bolognese, but of course the gluten free pasta sub is only spaghetti or fusilli so I picked spaghetti. It wasn’t cooked through to even al dente but when you’ve waited over an hour for food, it becomes acceptable. The pizza arrived shortly after, which the server checked in once to apologize for the delay saying it was because they were waiting to clean the oven well before making my pizza.
Later when paying, I saw my items were marked as “celiac - clean well” but I started feeling some symptoms afterward so I’m not sure what good waiting an hour was for. Sadly, I won’t be back. Pizza was good though.
* I really wished I looked into this place more since I found Eater and East Bay Express articles saying this about the gf pizza dough containing a special wheat flour, “ The Lucia’s team landed on a combination of rice, buckwheat, corn, and a special wheat flour that goes through a Swiss washing process to remove the gluten.” FYI to anyone who has celiac

The GF pizza is unlike anything I’ve ever had and for those with guest who can eat gluten my husband said it was the best pizza or one of that he’s ever had. My only downfall with them is that the kitchen is a pretty shared space and open so you can see it all happening. My stomach was mildly upset after eating there and my guess would be cross contamination unfortunately.

The food was great and they have so many gluten-free options, from pizzas to pastas. However, they warn you they cannot guarantee that there will not be any cross contamination and they are right to do so. I sat at the counter and watched them make pizzas. The food is all handled in the same counter, oven, hands that have touched the regular dough and surfaces. I’m new to celiac so I’m learning my limits and sensitivities and unfortunately I will not be returning. I had symptoms after eating here.

When people ask about what I miss because of me Celiac diagnosis, Pizza is always high on my list. Lucia's has the best Gluten Free crust I've tasted. I was there for Brunch and had my first ever Bacon and Egg pizza. Wonderful. Great service. Warm atmosphere.... and in my case perfect companions.
I was really hopeful because the hostess was so sweet and knowledgeable, but it only went downhill from there. The only thing safe for anyone with celiac disease is the pasta, of which they have two options. (the pizza is cooked in the same oven as gluten pizzas and they take no precautions with the gf) The service was the worst part of the experience, we saw our waiter twice the entire meal and everything took ridiculously long. Lastly, they add 20% gratuity (which would be absolutely fine if the service were good) while the service probably didn't even warrant 10%. So disappointed.

Loved the pizza crust !! The grilled Serrano pepper appetizer was overpowering but I ordered it so, my bad. They were careful to point out they take precaution for Xcontamination but there are gluten full pizzas prepped and cooked nearby. I had no reaction!
The Neapolitan style GF pizza crust is extraordinary and cooked to perfection in a firewood oven. They can make almost anything GF, and their menu is clearly marked. One of the owners has celiac so he's very knowledgeable. In the heart of Berkeley's downtown, this is a wonderful gem that deserves encouragement and support. It's very popular so I recommend reservations.
