Love this place for delicious gluten free sandwiches and potato salad
Met the owner of this franchise. One of the first to offer gluten free bread. Many gluten free options and very friendly staff.
Offers lots of options and great service!!
The staff here is always so kind and friendly. Unfortunately, some of them don't realize that bread isn't the only thing you have to worry about. I didn't feel great after eating a grilled chicken sandwich, and I'm scared of the gravy. I haven't tried it and I'm not sure anyone can convince me it's safe.
McAlister's offers a huge menu and not only are so many options gluten-free (giant spuds, salads, all of the dressings), they carry Rudis gluten-free bread. Any of the sandwiches are available on it. I asked about cross contamination and was told that they change gloves and have a special cutting board to use for these orders. The bread is not sent through the toaster, rather grilled on the panini press to avoid the crumbs in the toaster.
When the person at the register wasn't sure of the gluten content of an item, she called the manager. I had many choices and the staff was willing to offer adaptations to make a menu item gluten free. Really good tasting food and I didn't get sick. This means a lot to me as I have celiac diseaseand it is hard to find good gluten free restaurants.
I have eaten at this restaurant several times, had gf bread available every time. Although staff doesn’t seem to be very knowledgeable about celiac disease, I’ve never had an issue with contamination or getting sick. Food has always been good.
We eat here often, it’s one of the only local places that we feel relatively safe. They now have a gluten sensitive menu at the counter that includes nachos, potatoes, veggie chili, and sandwiches on gluten free bread to name a few. Don’t get your sandwich toasted as the press is used for the regular sandwiches too, and if you order the Ultimate Nachos, be sure to have them use the veggie chili because the regular chili is not gluten free. Lots of selections have dairy, beans, or spice, so if you have issues with any of those you’ll be more limited in choices.
I absolutely love eating here! They have gluten free bread and my favorite sandwich to get is the smoky pepperjack turkey! I left off one star because they switched from Lays chips to their own brand and after eating their brand of bbq chips, which according to the website are gluten free, I did get sick the next day. But other than that one time I've never gotten sick after eating here, so maybe just avoid the chips and get the fresh fruit instead!
We order takeout from here all the time and have no problems with getting sick. Just have to call and let the kitchen know there is a gluten allergy. Took one star away because the actual food quality is hit or miss... sometimes the potatoes are old or they forget part of your order. But it is convenient and lots of choices.
I was given regular wheat bread at this location causing me anaphylaxis. I asked multiple times about safety and they assured me. This place had about the worst service ever. Poor management. Maybe another McAllister’s is good but this location is horrible.
This was not a good experience. They said they knew as bout gluten but I got cross contaminated here. I was told the potatos were gf, but when they came out I knew they had been in a fryer. So I did not eat the potatoes, just the omelet but I still got sick.
They were helpful up front but something got cc'd in the back. My daughter was sick within an hour. She ate a baked potato with bacon, a few sips of tomato bisque soup, and a few bites of a turkey and cheese sandwich on gluten free bread. So disappointed, was hoping she'd be safe based on other reviews of this location. We may try again but just a potato to see if she gets cc'd.
The gluten free bread here is great! I also get no cheese for a dairy allergy and the staff has only given me cheese once in two years, which is pretty great for a take out restaurant. Definitely gluten free friendly with several soups and side to choose from as well!
The staff had no knowledge of any gluten containing items and were unwilling to listen to requests as simple as “please change your gloves”. No allergen menu offered and no gluten-free bread like other locations carry. If you have Celiac or are gluten sensitive at all, DO NOT EAT HERE.
Disregard the previous user review from 3 years ago. Luckily my wife and I walked in to check it out and were very happy with our visit. Lots of choices and the managaer and staff were very helpful in making sure of no cross contamination. We found another gluten free favorite in Dothan! Yesssss
The gluten free sandwich I had was amazing! However, they do give you a warning that it is NOT celiac friendly and there is a high chance of cross contamination. I tried it out and unfortunately got sick after. If you are celiac, don’t take the risk.
I loved it. I just ordered baked potato bc I knew it would be ok. We don’t have this restaurant where I live and I enjoyed the change.
The staff where very nice so was the manger and I got the Italian chopped salad and when they where coming out with the food they almost got to are table before they forgot if they changed there gloves or not so they went back and made the whole salad over again. (Ps I did not get sick and on a scale from 1 to 10 I am like a 12 when I eat gluten.)
Horrible experience, avoid this place if you have celiac disease or any other food allergy. I ordered a sandwich with “gluten free” bread, but the cashier was very unprofessional and laughing as I was ordering and did not take my order seriously. After eating 1/4 of my sandwich I felt weird about it and ended up finding out that it was made on whole wheat bread. If you have any food allergies don’t risk eating here.
They have gluten free options, but it is not a gluten free kitchen. They use the same utensils on everything in the kitchen.
