Ate at montrio last night as part of a large group (+25 people). Spoke with manager upon arrival and alerted him to my restrictions — they told me that they do not have dedicated prep areas but take strong precautions. I had a delicious three course meal and did not get sick (I am very sensitive). I’d go again.

I called and asked if it was celiac friendly, and they said absolutely yes. And then I asked if they had a dedicated space or dedicated pans for gluten-free dishes, and she said no. She didn’t seem super patient or friendly which is one of the things I look for when talking to restaurants. Having celiac is stressful enough and I’m not impressed given it seems like a fine establishment.

Everything about our meal at montrio bistro was outstanding. If you go and don’t experience the 48h bacon, you really didn’t go to Montrio Bistro. Also would second the other reviews that said to get the scallops. I will be dreaming of this meal for a while.

Very good. The waiter made me feel very comfortable eating here. He knew every ingredient, how it was prepared, and what it came in contact with. He explained what was gluten free, and how other dishes would be modified to avoid cross contamination. The food was fantastic. Try the scallops, worth every penny.

Best place we have eaten on our three week road trip. Delicious salmon/48 hour bacon/baked chicken and desert ice cream in a almond sugar bowl and deconstructed cheese cake. Went two nights as great service and wine and atmosphere. Could only improve if they had a separate frier and offer gluten free bread for the table. Waiters very knowledgeable about the food and felt very safe. Would go again!

Fantastic food! Husband and I both had the salmon which was amazing, menu has GF options labeled and waiter was very familiar with what could be made GF. Great service and atmosphere. Highly recommend!
I'm dreaming of the next time I find myself in Monterey so that I can come back to Montrio! Every single thing was delicious. The waitstaff was knowledgeable about the menu and gluten free items and adaptations. Highly recommend.

Loved the food and the atmosphere! Our server, Scott, was the most knowledgeable server I have worked with. He knew the ingredients like he was a chef. He had great suggestions. My husband and I shared two appetizers and two sides and called it dinner. We had bacon wrapped shrimp, smoked salmon with pickled fennel, more pickled fennel over arugula and french green beans seasoned with coconut and cumin. Everything was beautifully presented, delightfully seasoned and fit my gluten, dairy, soy, garlic, onion-free, low FODMAP needs.

Really great restaurant with amazing, hard working staff. They clearly mark the menu with items that can be gluten free. If you're celiac (like me) make sure you tell them and they'll let you know if any alterations are required which they're happy to do for you!! I got the artichoke to start and the wild king salmon over risotto (only alteration required was to remove the fried Brussel sprout leaves because of shared fryer). Great vibe and delicious food. Highly recommend !

I loved this place. High quality food, nice special occasion place. Our waiter said it was his second day on the job and he could recite what was and wasn't gf (or could be made as such). Table runner announced "gluten free scallops" when he delivered food. We loved scallops, swordfish, burrata salad, sardine special, well everything. Lots of locals dining for special occasions. Nice cozy vibe, great food.
