First time there. Polite service. Nice atmosphere. Staff was thoroughly aware of Celiac Disease and Gluten Intolerance. Menu is marked with GF items and options. I asked if the fryer was dedicated and was told “absolutely”. Our meal was delicious and cooked with care. Quite tasty! No reactions from either of us. Well done!

We ate here twice during our recent vacation. The food was delicious. The staff was very knowledgeable and verified my allergies for anything I ordered before they turned it into the kitchen. Does not have a dedicated fryer but they do have gluten free options. The Black and Blue Burger and the corned bison on the gluten free rolls were great. Would definitely return.

Resa we have a ton of Celiac diners so we do have our designated Gluten Free Fryer. Not sure who told you we didn’t
I’ve heard about this place for a while, but finally stopped in last night. It was a great experience. The server was very helpful and when I said I was a celiac, he told me about the dedicated fryer. They have a wide variety of options from appetizers to dessert (crème brûlée and a chocolate raspberry tart). My fish and chips were tasty (the fries were especially good) and the crème brûlée was yummy too. Can see my non-GF family enjoying this place as well. Will be coming back!

This was my first restaurant when I moved to Colorado, and my last when I moved to my husband's duty station in California. I tried the burgers, the salmon BLT, and the fish and chips in my 2 years living in Colorado (2020-2022). Every single dish was INCREDIBLE!! I had family frequently visiting during this time and this became our go-to place because it had the classic American bar and grill food we all enjoyed.
The wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating every time I ate at the tavern. The best part we learned on one of our many visits was that the owner (or maybe chef 😬, definitely someone with authority) had family with celiac disease, so there were always significant measures to make sure that GF folks got to enjoy yummy, fried foods without getting sick. There was only one instance in which there was a mix-up with my bun and it was easy to tell because my sandwich bun looked just like my aunt's non-gluten-free bun. Instead of making a fuss, the waitstaff immediately rectified the mistake, gave an apology, and our group went on with our evening.
Whenever I am ordering GF food, the North Side Tavern has inadvertently become my gauge when comparing accomodation, knowledge, and safety!

Fabulous! I was surprised to find the restaurant full at 4 pm on a Saturday however I immediately understood the draw. Menu is well marked with plentiful gluten free options. I opted for a sandwich and the GF bun was deliciously fresh. I am looking forward to going back already.

I had an excellent experience at North Side Tavern. I have celiac, which they noted (it was even on the bill). I had the Mountain Man Game Meatloaf, which was truly incredible. My gluten eating friend got the same thing and loved it. I felt very taken care of.

We had a short vacation to CO to visit family and ended up at North Side Tavern while in search of a gluten free restaurant. All of the staff were very knowledgeable about the food restrictions for some of our party. They had huge selection of gluten free food and their manager Melissa was exceptional! Our group ended up eating there two nights in a row. We all highly recommend the Fish & Chips (GF), Prime Rib Dinner w/o fried onion toppers (GF), Burgers (can be made GF), Coconut Bang Shrimp (GF) and the Creme Brûlée (GF). Such a great atmosphere!

The food was so good. The hot wings and French Fry's were incredible. And the apple cider mule was delicious. I have celiacs and felt totally safe here. They have a dedicated fryer. And honestly the gluten free buns were pretty damn good. The service was great and the vibe was so chill. Will for sure go here again.

A good find for safe fried GF food. They have two dedicated fryers and their GF items are marked on the menu. Wait staff was super knowledgeable. Make sure you tell them you need your food fried in the GF fryer because you have to ask for it it’s not an automatic. I got the fried pickles and fish and chips and both were really good.

Hi, we are now active on the gluten free site. We hope you will come try us again. On the kids menu we can also offer cheese burgers or hamburgers on an udi’s GF bun. There are lots of options on our lunch menu GF or we can make GF. We also started only GF pancakes and waffles available on our weekend menu till 2pm.
Always good. Love the fried pickles but I think they’re better with ranch than the chipotle aioli. The prime rib sandwich and the shaved steak with arugula are good. The gf bread is just so-so but it’s fine. I really like coming here and will always make a stop when I’m in town

tl;dr: Good food, but the particular person who took my order was not knowledgeable about celiac disease, and I almost got glutened. (The onion rings are *not* gluten-free.)
I ordered takeout, and got the western barbecue burger. I asked while ordering if I needed to leave off the fried onions, and the person on the phone said the kitchen would know whether or not to leave them off. (This is where I messed up, I should have just said to leave them off, but the good reviews gave me a false sense of complacency.) I drove home to find out that the burger had onion rings on it and called again to ask and confirmed that they were not GF. I had to drive back to swap my burger for a safe one. The food was good, but I was surprised given the good reviews that the person answering the phone wasn’t more knowledgeable.

Thanks for your review Molly and we are able to respond now to reviews. After your review, we created a supplemental training guide for our host staff that answers the phones. Our kitchen is well versed but we realized our younger staff answering the phones needed more training. Please always let them know you are celiac and extra precaution protocol will be implemented.
Excellent wait staff that is very on top of making sure everything was gluten free. The GF coconut shrimp was beyond delicious. The owner even came out to ensure me that it was all cooked appropriately. Then made sure to point out that my wife’s meal was not gluten free which we knew, but the level of detail and attention they went to was top notch. I have high confidence in Northside Tavern.

We really do take cross contamination seriously and have recently been able to respond to reviews. We have learned quite a bit over the last few years and have really trained the staff on the nuances of GF. Recently we added GF pancakes and gluten free dairy free waffles for our weekend brunch menu. We don’t serve non GF pancakes or waffles to avoid any cross contamination or mix ups. It’s more expensive to do so but we do it because they are great tasting and tasty for everyone. We do it because we have such a big gluten free local following and every time we create a menu item, we try to take GF into account. We do have lots of GF options, more today than ever and most items on our menu can be modified to be gluten free if you just let us know. We hope you will give us another chance and look at the other reviews we have gotten here.
We ordered the prime rib. Don’t do it. Half of it was fatty and inedible.

Hi Terri
We think you need to come back and revisit the prime rib for sure. We have switched our vendor and grade. We have purchased a designated prime rib roasting cabinet and have gotten feed back that it is amazing. We still leave a little of the fat cap on because some people love that but overall we guarantee you will love it today. It’s so much better than two years ago. We serve it Thursday thru Sunday just tell your server you are gluten free so we don’t add the fried onion strings and come early cause we sell out most nights we have it cause it’s so good! Guarateed juicy and tender
Had an excellent experience. I recommend you let your server know that you are celiac. I was informed that there is a separate fryer as well as a separate cook top for gluten free orders. I had the shrimp, wedge salad and the fish fry basket and everything was delicious. I’m a sensitive celiac and had no issues. Looking forward to visiting regularly.

Holy guacamole this place kicks! The waitstaff was beyond friendly. Pam treated us like family. She was very informative on what was Gluten Free. This place blows federal bar and grill out of the water for selection and also from a pricing stand point. We had the fried pickles, queso dip with carnitas, and the fish & chips. Everything was crispy and cooked to perfection! They also have a full holidaily menu and a cider on tap. Can’t wait to return!

We eat here all the time, and my son with Celiac has never gotten sick. Everything GF is clearly marked on the menu and they do a great job of avoiding cross-contamination. Also, almost all breaded items are made with rice flour, so the fried pickles, for example, are GF, and are amazing. Highly recommended.

This place was great, a handful of GF options on the menu. Even had a GF option too on the kids menu and the dessert menu! We were able to order an appetizer, dinner and dessert and I never got sick. Would definitely recommend checking it out!
Staff was knowledgeable and confirmed they have a dedicated fryer. I’ve just wanted a burger and fries and that is what I ordered but they had many gluten free options on the menu. Will eat here again.
