Update: My son seems to have had reactions twice here since. :( not sure how serious they take cross contamination. Our first server there seemed really aware, the others in not sure. Be careful. I don’t know we’ll be returning and especially without a conversation with a manager. Staff seemed aware and careful when bringing gluten free menu items to the table. My son had no reactions following the meal. Would be nice if they could offer a gluten free fryer. Menu is pricey for a chain, but a good option to add to our local list.
Had Jesse as a waiter he was absolutely wonderful. The menu was awesome my daughter had ribs even with barbecue sauce. I got ranch on my salad. Potato was yummy and the dessert I thought my daughter was going to take out my husband lol. But their never seems to be dessert that’s gluten free so we were so excited. I would definitely recommend for celiacs and gluten sensitivity what a wonderful experience will come back next time we’re in town
Gluten free menu made it easy to determine what was safe to eat. If you're looking for anything with bread (burger, sandwich, etc.), they do not have gluten free bread. However, they do have a gluten free brownie and clearly identify gluten free salad dressings and side items.
My celiac daughter ate a baked potato here. We even tested it with the Nima and it tested <20ppm gluten. The only complaint is a limited menu that my child likes at least. Other, less picky people, may find the menu to be acceptable.
Best gluten free meal experience we have had anywhere since diagnosis. Cody our server was very knowledgeable and took great care of us!! The food was delicious...don’t leave without the chocolate thunder from down under!
I’ve eaten here 3 times and each time I’ve been very specific about being celiac. The servers are uneducated about what it means to be “gluten free” and one even asked where I got their gluten free menu. I ate basic food (grilled chicken, steamed veggies, salad) and all 3 times I’ve gotten sick. I won’t be going back, even though they have a “Gluten Free Menu.”
I got a gluten free menu and the waiter I had didn’t even write down that I was celiac and sure enough I got sick. So tell them to write down you have an allergy or they won’t! But the food was good.
Awesome menu choices. Servers are educated about celiac disease and quite helpful. We go almost weekly and they go out of their way for me every time. I have my mushrooms sauteed in butter because their roux contains flour. I never knew that - they go above and beyond!!! I highly recommend Outback Steak House!!!
The server and manager were great! I was well taken care of and had plenty of options. I ordered the Alice Springs Chicken, mashed potatoes, and side salad with no croutons. Everything was prepared well and I had no issues.
Great food and service! I was very impressed how this Outback handled my gf needs. There is a separate gf menu, so make sure to ask for it and reinforce with your server that you're ordering specifically from the gf menu. They use a separate part of the grill and clean utensils for gf items. When I told my server I couldn't have gluten, he brought out a veggie platter so I could have something to munch in lieu of their bread, which was a very nice touch! I had a delicious and juicy grilled chicken breast, baked potato, and mixed veggies. They even have a gf brownie for dessert, which I regret I didn't have room for. I left the place very satisfied and feeling great!
They were so helpful after finding out about how I needed not only gluten free food but also dairy free food. The manager came out and answered all of my questions. There was a lot to choose from on the gf menu.
I was very impressed with the manager! I told our server that I am gluten free when I ordered. The manager came to our table to let us know that the kitchen staff would change gloves, aprons, and wipe down everything before preparing my food. His daughter has celiac, so he understands! We had a fantastic experience at this Outback.
They have a separate gluten free menu if you ask for it! I ordered the filet, baked potato and broccoli. The broccoli was a little soggy and meh but I had no reaction from my meal there. The staff was very polite and attentive.
When I went there I asked about the GF-Menu. I ordered a filet with mashed potatoes and broccoli that were on the list. The stuff asked me if I would like some bread and I said no I eat glutenfree. After eating my meal I had my usual symtoms which I have when I eat gluten, so this place is not safe for people with celiac deasese l!
I honestly should give one star but my waitress was “nice” but totally Uneducated when it came to GF. My family went to LEGOland and was exhausted afterwards so we trusted Outback as an option for dinner because it was conveniently located near our hotel and we trusted the chain. They presented me with a beautifully organized and separate GF menu BUT THEN kept messing up my order after I specifically told them I had a gluten allergy and was ordering off the GF menu that was given to me. My first salad came out with breaded chicken so I sent it back and then my second salad (attempt) came out with croutons!! Long story short....she told me I “shouldn’t expect the kitchen to know what gluten is” 🤷🏼♀️
Staff was very knowledgeable and assured me that precautions would be taken to prevent cross-contamination. I had grilled chicken and mashed potatoes and it tasted great! They were busy but managed to keep my meal safe!
Server not well trained on Gluten. Asked if I wanted bread. Then even after I ordered off the GF menu getting the Aussie Cob with chicken, he asked if I wanted the grilled or crispy chicken. Not exactly inspiring confidence. Looked ok, but this morning I’ve been cleaning out. Not 100% sure that was it, but celiacs be cautious. Have had the same meal at other Outback’s with no issues.
They are very aware about celiac and they even have a gluten free menu. They will make sure nothing gets contaminated. The Aussie Cobb Salad is usually what I get and it is soooooo good!! Make sure when you walk in you ask for the gluten free menu from the hostess.
So first of all, haven’t been to Outback Steak House in 10 years and I what I discovered in returning left me pleasantly surprised! My waitress was Jenn, she was super attentive and awesome at explaining everything. The gluten free menu is extensive and will leave any celiac quite happy. I had grilled chx breast with bbq sauce, a Caesar salad, ribs, and finally had the desert all with zero problems! I’m a very sensitive celiac and its been an hour since I ate with zero problems. I would recommend to any celiacs or even normal people.
They advertise gluten free menu, but have no follow through with cross contamination. We ordered dinner sakad, Ceasars salad, and after having a few bites found croutons crumbs. Plain coming sense doesn't go through the wait staff. I've been sick for over 24 hrs! Shame on you Outback Steakhouse, Burleson....
Great selection of steaks and chicken all gluten free. Chips are not Gluten free cooked in same fryer. But plenty of other options mash potatoes, salad, veggies and bakes potatoes. Great sauces which are Gf as well. Staff had great knowledge
Outback on Alpine continues to impress. Brought my food out separate from my wife’s. Had ribeye, baked potato with back, and broccoli. No butter on baked potato as requested. Thunder down under available if you can have dairy. Total confidence.
I’ve eaten here safely several times but thankfully know how to order safely, ask about ingredients and how they prepare the food. They do have a gf menu but will still bring bread to the table automatically even when you have the menus. I ALWAYS double check my food that they’ve given me the correct plate. It’s happened to me often enough that they try to give me the wrong food or a salad with croutons. They really need to work on training the staff & kitchen on celiac/allergen safety. Compared to other chains, they’ve a long way to go here.
I had to order delivery because I was worn out from riding from Erie, PA. The woman who took my order understood I have a gluten allergy-Celiac. When my order was delivered to the hotel there was bread wrapped in foil with the dressings for my potatoe. Unbelievable I have this to say. If Outback Steakhouse is going into business selling fat and grisle and ligaments as ribeye steak then I will not give you my money again. Or maybe because it was a delivery piece of meat/ligament/grisle the cook felt it acceptable. I ordered a medium cooked steak. See photos. See photos. Unacceptable to do this on a delivery. I don't know if I should eat the salad.
