Don’t go to this place if you’re celiac or have gluten allergy. I ordered GF pizza and pasta. I told waitress that I’m allergic to gluten. After eating I felt really bad. I asked waitress if my food was cooked separately and if there was no cross contamination. She assured me everything was cooked separately. Also, after she tried to blame me that I shared food with other people, which was not GF. There was no apology or anything. Left this place in bad mood and feeling really sick. I read another people reviews after that says they cook pizza on the same tray as regular pizza and sometimes using same pots for all pastas.
I ordered delivery and got a pizza and Alfredo pasta. Overall pretty unremarkable and over priced. The crust was obviously just one of the standard pre-made thin cracker like crusts, not sure why others say it’s so good. The gf pasta was the standard penne and the sauce was runny and not particularly flavorful.
Based on the reviews, I was really excited to try this place. Menu is marked with lots of GF options. However, I ordered one of the GF options and advised that I have a gluten allergy. The waitress advised they can not make tue option that I selected gluten free. I told her the menu item I had chosen was marked as a GF item. She reiterated that I would need to choose something else that can actually be made gluten free. I made a different selection that came with a salad. I asked if there was anything on the salad that was not gluten free. She said it has croutons and I asked if they could be left off the salad. I apologized for the inconvenience as the waitress was seemingly irritated and reiterated that I have an allergy and just want to be sure. The waitress said no problem and walked away. The salad came out with croutons on it. At this point, I was feeling uncomfortable so my husband ate the salad instead of sending it back.
When our food came out, a different waitress came out and advised on the ingredients of my pasta dish and advised that it was made separate from everything else and with all gluten free ingredients. I had no reaction to the pasta and it was delicious.
Overall, I’d recommend this restaurant because the pasta was delicious and I had no reaction, but it really can be a completely different experience based on what server you have.
Went here because there were so many good reviews on this app. But ended up being underwhelmed. Was awesome that several of the pastas (not the tortellini or ravioli) & the pizza could be gf and apparently safe prep methods. The pizza was tasty though the crust is very thin & tough. I ordered kalamata olives on the pizza but ended up with regular (canned) black olives. My friends liked their pasta but said the garlic bread (not gf) was like something you’d get frozen & cheap from the store. The atmosphere/decor was uninteresting and a bit run down/cheap. Server was nice but basically ignored us after we got our food. Don’t think I’d go here again unless I was desperate for pizza.
Went here for dinner on a Thursday. Friendly wait staff. Asked the waitress if pasta Was cooked in a seperate Boiler than gluten pasta, she stated yes. I asked if the side salads were premade, she stated no. Our side salads came out, no croutons on mine. However, I was about the fith bite into the salad when I came across a soggy crouton. I requested new silverware and had the tainted salad and silverware removed. When the baked Ziti was brought to the table, I double checked to ensure it was gluten free. Luckily, I did not have any reactions from the salad or pasta.
I did a lot of searching to find the best Italian restaurant with gluten free options. Perrini's won and did not disappoint. We did notice everyone said get the gluten free pizza, so we did that. Not sure about the gf pasta options.
Tips and hints:
1) 330 to 630 happy hour petrinis , worth it
2) get the wings , they are gluten free! That was a nice surprise
3) 12 inch gf pizza is great
4) House salad is excellent
Ate there 3 times. Had the shrimp scampi, spaghetti with meat sauce and pizza without any problems. They offered other options besides bread. Had their Wedding soup and salad without problems too. They also knew that they have to cook pizza longer or it comes out soggy.
They have Gluten-Free penne and have an Italian wedding soup minus the meatballs. The soup was excellent. For my main meal I had the baked penne. It was a delicious meal. Very flavorful and filling. They have some good wines too. I felt fine and did not have any reaction. The pizza is great too!
Very knowledgeable staff. Kids had GF pasta and pizza - both very good. I had chicken piccata, which the kitchen modified to make sure it was all GF.
The server was very knowledgeable and helpful in ordering gluten free. The kitchen messed up my order and made it gluten full- but the server caught it and fixed it before the food ever made it to me! I would go there again. The gluten free pasta itself wasn’t great but the sauce and everything else was great.
Many thanks to the waitress for her patience with my questions..verifying good gluten free hygiene. Had a great experience and they were totally accommodating to me for gluten and nightshade free food. I will definitely return.
Super helpful staff! So willing to inform me of all gluten free options. You can get any pasta or pizza substituted for a GF options. The pizza was amazing. Will be back here for lunch tomorrow
6 y/o is not only celiac but allergic to all nuts, egg, and soy protein. Enjoyed a nice family dinner that in my daughter's words was "awesomely good!" In talking in advance with manager and upon arrival, I learned they could prepare not only safe pizzas but also offer pastas (by cooking in dedicated pans preventing possible cross contact with gluten). I believe there were 3 choices of pasta and at least two sauces, if not 3. Had GF bread but not an option for us as our daughter is egg allergic. Although she could have eaten the pasta, being 6 she defaulted to her favorite item...pizza. She loved every bite. I tasted it and it was delicious! So were the meals ordered by the 4 other individuals with us! A smaller restaurant, not busy on a weeknight. A great find and would definitely recommend.
Excellent food, and a good variety of options. The hostess was knowledgeable about gluten-free issues, and explained what could and could not be made gluten-free. They can make 12" pizzas with a GF crust. Most of their pastas can be made gluten-free, with the major exception of their alfredo sauces, which do contain wheat. Their meatballs also have gluten, but they can substitute sausages, which do not. Most of their salads are also GF. We had the seafood pasta, which was delicious. I also liked their side salad; simple but tasty. We will probably be coming back this trip; their mushroom and meat sauces looks incredible.
I have celiac, but I don't have any symptoms if I accidentally ingest gluten (it's happened a few times), so I can't be certain that they have zero cross-contamination. However, they certainly seemed to understand celiac, and I felt confident eating there.
Wonderful service. Knowledgeable staff. Good GF pizza. When I am back in San Diego I will head that way again.
Started with Italian Wedding soup - not a great recipe, sort of like shredded chicken soup with carrots...not what I was expecting. Next was the sausage and peppers with gf pasta. Pasta was good, sauce was a bit sweet. Clean and friendly atmosphere. Menu is marked with gf options.
