Symptomatic Celiac

I came here under the impression I’d be able to have a celiac-safe meal. Virtually the only item on the menu that was safe for me was a veggie-cheese omelet and a bowl of fruit. The server was knowledgeable and told me that the meat was cooked on shared griddles, and that the GF pancakes are cooked next to the regular pancakes. The potatoes are also cross contaminated on the shared griddle. She assured me they cook the omelettes in separate pans so I felt safe eating that. I was disappointed that I couldn’t eat more. I’m sure there were a few lunch options, but for breakfast that was the only thing safe.

We had an absolutely fabulous experience today at the diner! I am Celiac and I'm very sensitive to any type of cross contamination. Our waitress Mona was SO knowledgeable about everything on the menu and she guided me through exactly what I could and could not have. I had the best grilled cheese sandwich in my adult life because they get their bread from a local bakery and the gluten-free bread is the best I've tried. They have a huge assortment of items for both breakfast and lunch and they're open everyday except for Wednesday, I believe until 6. I highly highly recommend Phoenicia diner, they did an excellent job and I don't have to worry at all which is amazing! Also Mona is very funny and super friendly, she made the experience that much better!

I ate here after a weekend of snowboarding in the area and man, that was some good food! Although they're not a dedicated GF restaurant, they do have plenty of options that don't contain any gluten. I had an egg and trout skillet that was delicious and, best of all, I had no reaction!

Fair warning: while they do have gluten free bread available, I was informed that they toast the bread in the same toaster as the regular bread so I chose not to eat mine when it came out toasted!
