The staff was wonderful but I reacted. I think it may be because it is their practice to use the same gloves to handle a wheat wrap and dip into the containers and pick out the vegetables and toppings. So when they were careful with my gluten free wrap- new gloves and new paper under my wrap, all the toppings are already cross contaminated. I’m sorry to say this because this restaurant is my favourite fast food.

We had lunch here and they were very aware of how to safely prepare gluten free. They asked if it was okay to use the grill and also asked if we wanted our toppings from the safe containers under the counter. We felt very comfortable with their food and protocols.

We stopped here for lunch on our way to and from Nova Scotia. My son with celiac was THRILLED to be able to safely eat a GF gyro! Both the meat and the pita were GF. Upon ordering he was asked if he needed his meat warmed in the microwave instead of the flat top and if he needed fresh ingredients pulled from below. We were confident they knew how to safely handle his food and we were able to watch them make it.
I had a gyro salad which was also very good.
There is an allergen menu available online.

Ordered a garden GF pita, did not have any grilled veggies or get it toasted as I was playing it extremely safe. As a highly symptomatic celiac I asked them to be extra careful of cross contamination, I had it loaded with veggies and honey mustard. No issues at all. Allergens are listed on the website too which is helpful.

The GF Pita Wrap, with all the veggies and black Bean burger (vegan) was very filling, next time I’ll try the GF falafel. They cleaned the grill before cooking my food to avoid cross contamination, they also offered to get veggies from the fridge to also avoid cross contamination. To toast my pita, they wrapped in tin foil to not cause cross contamination. Very friendly staff.

Four of us went. They forgot to make one person’s meal. We had been to a Pitapit in Saint John NB where they brought out special gluten-free separate ingredients. This did not happen in New Minas. While the food was OK two of us had gas for about a week following this experience. our stomachs were bloated and upset.. Would not go again.

Clean, friendly, helpful. The GF pita was great quality. My pita was delicious! They also have a water bottle refill station onsite, and very comfortable seating. Great experience. This will be my new stop on my trips between Toronto and Ottawa. Thank you Pita Pit! :)
