Four of us went. They forgot to make one person’s meal. We had been to a Pitapit in Saint John NB where they brought out special gluten-free separate ingredients. This did not happen in New Minas. While the food was OK two of us had gas for about a week following this experience. our stomachs were bloated and upset.. Would not go again.
This particular location has been amazing in making sure I'm ok with the conditions my food is prepared in. One person took the extra step of opening new containers for spreads to avoid cross contamination. They always ask me if I would like them to clean the grill before preparing my food. The gluten free pita can be a bit chewy when cold, so if you are not eating in, you will want to reheat when you are ready to eat. Overall though, I have a great appreciation for the staff's knowledge and care for those with celiac.
I ordered a GF grilled chicken pita and Ben who took my order understood the importance of taking care of reducing any chance of cross contamination when I told him I needed my pita to be gluten and dairy free. Without asking, he cleaned the grill prior to cooking the chicken and vegetables for my meal, used clean new utensils and grabbed the containers of prepped vegetables so that he wasn’t using food that might have cross contamination. He wrapped the pita and put it in the microwave to heat it because he said he didn’t want to risk putting it in the press. I thanked him for being so thoughtful in his preparation and he simply responded that of course because everyone needs to eat. This young man is provided excellent customer service and cared about my safety!
I visited this Pita Pit late morning before the lunch rush. Harsh (employee at counter) was amazing - he used separate gloves, took toppings from below the counter, was knowledgeable about sauces and celiac disease and was generally just a nice pleasant person. Also, his cookie alarm was going off on his watch when he was making my pita, but he wouldn’t turn it off or turn off/open the oven until done my souvlaki salad for fear of cross contact. Definitely recommend!!
Tried this place for the first time. They offer gf pitas or you can get bowls or salads in addition to the regular menu. Most of the menu is gf, including sauces and spices. They were very aware of celiac, using separate utensils and food prep items. The person prepping the food thoroughly washed their hands to prevent cross contamination. They also used fresh food that had not been potentially exposed to cross contamination. We were very impressed with the level of effort that was put in to ensure a gluten free product and our meal was tasty. Highly recommend.
