I originally stopped in the Kalākaua location but they knew nothing about celiac or GF options so I made my way to this location since they had great reviews. I was pleased that one of the ladies working was able to explain what was GF and give recommendations based on what GF people normally get. They also had a sign listing what items were not GF so I knew what to steer clear of.
Eaten here twice so far and both times were great. I am highly sensitive and they did a great job in my experiences. They have a menu that clearly marks what is gluten free. The food tasted great as well! The salmon and tuna was very fresh tasting, plus their spicy mayo is gluten free which made me happy.
Severe celiac. Ate here twice and had great experience. Staff well trained and has good process for handling celiac / gluten during poke bowl creation including getting fresh seafood from the back to avoid potential cross contamination. Great experience and food was on point. Would recommend.
I'm not sure where I went wrong. I told the guy that the order needed to be gluten-free. He said I could get any one of the bases, that they were all gluten free including the sushi rice. I played it safe and got the brown rice and the mixed greens. They let me know that I couldn't have any of the marinated fish so I got tuna and salmon. Then for the toppings I got cucumber avocado and I got a spicy uso on the side and I ordered gluten free soy sauce! Since this was the only thing I had so far today and was sick immediately after I'm going to assume it was some cross-contamination or something. I hate to ruin a perfect review but I think it's important for people to know. :/
Great experience! As soon as said Celiac the staff started to explain what I could and could not eat. Each bowl comes with either miso crab salad or seaweed salad - neither of which are gluten-free. They offered to put my portion in a to-go container so my partner could eat it. All of the marinated proteins contain gluten, but fresh fish is fine by me. Most of the toppings and crunches were gluten-free and there were 3 gluten-free sauce choices (plain soy sauce, wasabi mayo, siracha mayo). Is this essentially a food court stall, yes. Is it also super fresh, yes. This tourist is happy.
Truly this is a GF/Celiac dream come true. I have severe celiac and this is the safest place I’ve found on Waikiki. Gloves are changed with every customer, you can watch as they make it and ensure there is zero cross contamination. They have great GF options including GF soy sauce.
My Poke lunch was wonderful.. I sent my husband with my selections in each Category.. and he brought a perfect lunch for me. I did not use any of the restaurants sauces, as I prefer to use my own for safety. Besides having celiac, I have a severe garlic allergy which can be difficult. The sides offered were not gluten free was my only disappointment.. but, I’m grateful to the employee that offered that information. My lunch was fabulous..so fresh.. I will definitely go back KC.
This place has a clearly marked GF menu. When you say you have Celiac, the staff also all understands what that means and what you need. Pretty impressive for an assembly-line kind of food place. The poke, itself, was really yummy. Not a lot of GF sauce choices (3), but there are a few.
We ate here probably 4 times while on our trip. The freshest poke I’ve ever had! So delicious! Awesome and safe place to eat if you are celiac/GF. Just make sure you tell them before they start your bowl because the sign they have posted says they won’t remake it if you don’t tell them. They do a good job of telling you what you can and can’t have and as far as I could tell, there’s a very slim chance for cross contamination so I felt very safe. Never got sick after eating here!
I was excited to try this place after reading all the great reviews, but when I went in and explained I can’t have gluten and asked what I could eat the staff had no idea and said the only thing safe thing to eat was the salad mix…. They also said the rice had gluten in? Pretty disappointing.
My go to spot for a quick and safe meal in Waikiki. Chipotle style build your own poke bowl. Inform staff of celiac/gluten allergy when ordering and they will help walk you through which items you can have. There is also a menu on the wall and the items that contain gluten are marked on the menu. Highly recommend!
This poke bar is great for gluten free and non gluten free people. There isn't any ingredient info online but in the store they have all the items thar contain gluten labled on the menu board. They also have a sign at the beginning of the line that says to make sure you let them know if you're gluten free. Once you tell them, they will let you know what you can and cannot have. There are only 2 sauces (spice and Wasabi mayo) on the board labeled GF but they did also have GF soy sauce.
Great poke and all items CONTAINING gluten are clearly marked. They mix everything at the end but use new gloves and/or utensils for every bowl. I got the spicy mayo and sesame oil for sauce. I was hoping they had gf soy sauce but unfortunately they did not. Honestly though, I didn’t miss it since the spicy mayo had a lot of flavor. I did not get sick and would definitely feel comfortable eating here again. The staff also seemed to be knowledgeable on what was gluten free and what was not.
Things that contain gluten are clearly marked on the menu. They have signs inside that say to let them know you need your food gluten free. When I told the lady I couldn't have gluten, she was very knowledgeable of what I could and couldn't have. I thought the only sauce I could have was the spicy mayo so I put it on my poke. Then I was informed that they also had gluten free soy sauce so I added that! Both sauces were good even though the spicy mayo is pretty spicy in my own opinion. I had no reactions after eating the tasty food!
Got glutened here, likely due to cross contamination. Super disappointing, since I absolutely love poke and really liked the food here.
I got a bowl with brown rice, tuna, salmon (forgot I was in Hawaii- should have gotten a double serving of the yummy tuna!), edamame, corn, and avocado, topped with spicy Mayo, GF soy sauce, and crispy ginger. All things that the guy told me we’re safe for me. Not sure which ingredient I got was the culprit.
Great spot for GF poke! They have gluten free soy sauce and spicy Mayo and the majority of things are gf. They changed gloves for my order and I’ve eaten here several times without issue (I’m celiac). They do have a disclaimer at the counter and it is a chipotle-style counter so there could be cross contamination but I stick to fish, rice and veggies that are on one side of the counter and haven’t had any issues. Highly recommend!
Take out poke bar, a lot of their stuff was naturally gluten free as to be expected. Menu items clearly marked with GF/Vegan/etc labeling. Seemed to not be too busy which was nice, and you fill out your order on a piece of paper rather than pointing out what you want. I wrote that I had an allergy as well as telling the employee and they were great about it. Only complaint is there were minimal sauce options that were GF however what they did have was delicious. Most of the proteins and all of the veggies are safe.
