Got door dash from here twice, once for dinner and once for lunch. I had the same thing both times (the carnitas bowl) and it’s nice that you can check celiac when selecting for allergies. The carnitas in the dinner bowl were way dry (end of the day probably) but the carnitas in the lunch bowl were very good. Nice that I don’t Have to get tacos here and that there are some bowl options

Had recommendations from the Uber Driver on our way from Airport to Hotel and a Customer Service representative at ISNA San Diego Conference. Make reservations ideally. I enjoyed several authentic and creative tacos on Purple corn tortillas. As well as a shareable Potato Taquito dish at the recommendation of our server. This was a filling appetizer that exceeded my expectations with flavour and presentation. Really enjoyed the food. Honestly recommend reservations they prompts Taco Tuesday at a savings. Do that week day for super value. You know what I valued was the information given when asking about the simple appetizer of chips and salsa”we can not guarantee the chips as they are brought into the restaurant “ I felt safe in server knowledge.

We ate here on New Year’s Eve 2023. The GF Menü was limited but sufficient. The chips are not made on site but I ate a whole basket and did not suffer any distress as a result. I ordered a chicken bowl with rice, black beans, avocado, and chicken al pastor. This was my favorite meal out of probably 12 meals while visiting SD. No desert options but I was stuffed after the chips and bowl. No reaction at all. Highly recommended.

Waitress was very knowledgeable and even cautioned me away from the ceviche as it has soy sauce in it and is marked gluten free. I had two tacos that were awesome as well as guacamole & chips. I didn’t get sick and I’m very sensitive.

I saw all the positive reviews for this restaurant and felt pretty confident with trying them out. When ordering I let our waiter know I had Celiac disease and needed to have GF food. I ordered three tacos, the short rib, shrimp and chicken. The waiter notated Celiac allergy on each of my tacos. When they arrived, I noticed the shrimp taco had a batter on it. I inquired with the waiter to make sure that the shrimp taco was indeed GF. He went back to the kitchen to check and when he came back he said it was not bc they had put them in a shared fryer, even with it stating allergy on the ticket. I realize eating out, there’s always a risk for cross contamination but to put the shrimp in a shared fryer was just negligence. I would not trust this restaurant again to be able to handle an allergy.

I suffered from food-related illness for four days after dining at this restaurant.
Despite informing the waiter about my celiac disease and the importance of avoiding gluten, I was assured that they could accommodate my dietary needs.
However, I discovered that the Pozole tacos I ordered contained gluten because the tacos had these little deep fried hominy bits that were dipped in wheat flour and fried, despite the waiter's initial assurances.
This complete disregard for my health and the false claims made by the staff have left me deeply disappointed. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone, as they demonstrated a lack of understanding and respect for food allergies while serving subpar food.

My waiter was not very knowledgeable about GF. I was reassured that the chips were gluten free, but they weren’t marked on the GF menu. I ended up ordering the shrimp bowl and the waiter asked if I wanted a side of flour tortillas…

So so delicious. We had green ceviche and loved it. Chips are GF. I had the shrimp bowl and it was all perfect. My husband loved his tacos. Topped it off the GF mango cake and he cannot stop talking about it. Definitely more like a 3 dollar sign place rather than 1 like it showed when I looked it up on here. The outdoor seating and music was wonderful too.

I had a reaction after the carnitas tacos, which isn’t what you want from tacos that are $9 each lol it was delicious though. I almost wanna say I would try it again, just because of how many great reviews other people had.

Wonderful experience! Sat in the bar and the bartender was so helpful! His wife was celiac and he knew all about what was ok to eat. I had the carnitas plate and it was outstanding. Did not get sick.

I got the tacos here with a lettuce wrap instead of the traditional tortillas. I got the carnitas and the tamarindo shrimp tacos. The carnitas has an amazing crispy cheese shell - I would totally go back just for these. The shrimp one was just OK. The service stunk but the outdoor area is really nice and cozy with heaters.

OMG best Mexican food I’ve ever had by far. Wait staff very knowledgeable about what is and isn’t gluten free and any modifications needed. We started with Polomas which are made with fever tree grapefruit mixer and was delicious. Expensive but the actual drinks were bigger than other places in San Diego for the price point. I ordered the Carnitas “plate” which is actually a bowl and had to get it without the salsa (a little off salsa would have gluten in it) and a mushroom taco which was fantastic! My husband ordered a short rib barria taco, carnitas taco and a shrimp taco (grilled so it wasn’t fried). The barria taco and mushroom tacos were the best. Again, it was fairly pricey but all of San Diego seems to be that way. Highly recommend!

Mexican is always a bit scary. This restaurant is not fast food, and it is not cheap. 8-10 per taco, and 3 would be an average meal. Plates are in the low 20s. The server was extremely knowledgeable. They were able to do dairy and gluten free, and they even tagged it in their ordering system as celiac. Most of the menu is an option. This was, hands down, the best Mexican food I have ever eaten.

Great experience!! We highly recommend this place! My 9-year old has Celiac disease and a tree nut allergy. She is TERRIFIED to eat out bc of gluten cross-contamination. The staff here was knowledgeable, spoke to her about all the precautions, and even explained once he tells the staff there’s an allergy, EVERYONE in the kitchen changes gloves. He brought her plate out wearing gloves, and their blue corn tortillas are made in a separate area. She ate a quesadilla with the blue corn tortilla and the cilantro-lime rice. She kept ordering more quesadillas ❤ She asked if we could eat there again tonight ❤❤❤ I also had gf tacos and they were delicious! He knew which meat marinades had gluten in them. We highly recommend this place!!

My tacos were extremely flavorful! I asked them to substitute chicken for the pork tacos, even though it wasn’t in the menu. It was very messy, so don’t eat it in the car! The GF items were marked on the menu.

The server asked about the allergy and explained how my daughter’s meal would be prepared separately to avoid cross contamination
They took extra time with her meal which we didn’t mind at all- actually appreciated the effort. The corn dish was delicious and gluten free. They made the shrimp taco grilled instead of fried to ensure it wasn’t contaminated

Not many GF options to choose from but the food was very good! I recommend the Carnitas tacos.

Food was gross. Basically tacos is what you get but overpriced, bland ones at that. It was carnitas, loads of cheese and avocado and so much oil it drips down your arm. I'd eat somewhere else.
The food was excellent. The staff were courteous and knowledgeable. Their chips are GF. The blue corn tortillas with the carnitas I ordered were a highlight for me. Excellent experience.
Yes
I rarely get the chance to eat Mexican food so saying that these were the best tacos I've ever eaten may not mean much. The menu had an adequate number of GF options, the servers were knowledgeable and when my food arrived, the server told me it was prepared with my GF needs in mind. Very reassuring.
Yes
Food was excellent and GF listed on the menu, but price is wrong even as listed on their menu. 3 tacos for $16 should already be rated at least 2 $$. Then they tack on a 4% surcharge for the whole bill, very sneaky move. Can't recommend it because the experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
The staff was knowledgeable of GF items. The food was fantastic! I had the tacos (blue corn) octopus, carnita & mushroom. All unique and full of flavor. I did not have the corn chips as they are fried offsite and they couldn’t confirm if they were GF, but said they should be. So, CC is a risk. The mango brûlée cheesecake was amazing and also GF! Highly recommended.
Yes
This place is just ok. I told the waitress that I have celiac and she wrote it down but didn’t really seem like she knew what that was. I had the carnitas tacos which were alright and I did not get sick. Nothing out of this world. It’s a chain restaurant and expensive. I only ate here once. There are better places to dine GF in San Diego.
Get the cactus & zucchini taco. I asked them to change their gloves and they were great.
Yes
I ate here twice while nearby at a conference. The first day I had tacos and they were delicious and no problems with GF. The next day I ordered a salad to go and it made me a little sick, plus it was a pathetic salad anyway. So I recommend you just stick to tacos.
Staff was knowledgeable and very entertaining. Tacos were awesome too!
Yes
Really yummy! Had the mix and match 3 tacos, all were delicious. Def celiac friendly, server and staff were knowledgeable and I felt comfortable eating there.

Oh my gosh. Best meal since I've gone gluten free 6 years ago. Celiac too.

There is a GF God.... he/she works at Puesto. I am very thankful. The food was succulent and I never got sick. Thank you.

Great meal, good service, lots of options, tasty food, didn't get sick. What else can you ask for?!
Yes
Had the chicken tacos - no issues. Very impressed. Drinks were great although pricey. Server made a note to the chef that I was extremely sensitive. Will definitely go back.
The waiter was super knowledgeable on gluten free options!
Good food, got a little sick afterward. Not sure if it was from the food or just eating too much. Good service, good knowledge but not dedicated space.
Yes
Best authentic salsa & chips ever! I also enjoyed the Striped Sea bass Taco! Fresh, simple, healthy, & GF!
Yes
Good food, environment was attractive and inviting and great service, however it should be labeled $$$ not $. It was expensive.
One of the best places I ate at while in San Diego. We ordered a plate of 3 street tacos. Fresh made corn tortillas. Only three types were gf but clearly marked. (carnitas, chicken, and cactus/zucchini) Chips and salsa were addictive and unique. Definitely pricey. I didn't enjoy the grilled corn side.
Yes
Mainly corn based options make this place "wheat free" not sure about gluten free. Was able to make my own wraps- chicken, avocado, lettuce. Not bad. Questionable kitchen though. No issues after eating.
